TRAXXAS PUFFY LIPO BATTERIES (My experience with customer service) 

WOW Nick, thank you for the great story..! I am super happy to know that I had a tiny hand in pushing this in the right direction..! These are the comments you live for. Since this video was uploaded, I built an Associated B6.1 kit and it was short 4 very odd, very important set of diff screws, (4X6X2.5mm). Called them up and was blamed for losing the screws by putting them in the wrong spot. I actually believed them and pulled most of the car back apart looking... Nope... So I called them back and got run around again.. They were not rude, just no help... I finally bought a set of 10 for 6 bucks on Ebay. Not excited...

I really appreciate your great comment and subscription. Thank you for making me re watch this video then I made. 2 years ago plus.!! to be quite honest it is a mind bending length of time to me. Not much has changed with my channel except for maybe getting rid of the 45 second channel opener. I can't imagine how many people skip this video because of the long opener.🤣 The good news is that you stayed and for that I thank you.

I love the conversations that this video generates..! This is fact, you can charge third party batteries on a Traxxas iD charger, and vice versa... I have seen the balance port on the chargers, so I guess it's the matter of an adapter to charge the other direction.. Cool comment, not many people know that little Easter Egg..!

I have made that analogy myself before

After reading this comment I had to watch my video again only to find out that I was bit misleading... I did finally say at the end of the video that TRAXXAS sent instructions on how to discharge the battery and dispose... It almost sounds like I hint that TRAXXAS asked me to send them the battery back and that is not true. Knowing what I know now, that would be very dangerous... It makes me wonder about the video that I speak of in this video and the person that said that TRAXXAS made him pay for shipping to send the puffy batteries back to TRAXXAS... I bet TRAXXAS has a policy against it all together... I thank you for this great comment...!!! The real important issue here is that you won an M41 from Snap-On...!!! That must be a wonderful story...!!!

AMAZING RC I never got instruction... but as much of a electrical/electronic nut I am, I remembered I have a trailer setting out side with lights on it... found that one of thr 3 cells were bad in my battery. so I worked up the wires up to that 5000mah battery and about 2 hours later I had all three cells at 0 volts. Battery barley got warm and the puffiness never got worse on it. In fact the two cells that were good still are still solid and flat. Then soldered every single wire to each other. I have the battery pack setting on my grill for the last 6 months nothing has changed with it.

I have actually seen that there are videos where people rebuild LiPO batteries... I have not watched yet because I will try it for sure... I am a nut too...!!! LOL...

AMAZING RC no its true. Have the emails/rma's requiring them shipped in for replacement. Not all of them, some just pictures. But the video was true, paid to ship them in and then paid again cause they wanted the 8.8v lipo back. Still to this day shipping bad ones in for replacement per TRAXXAS.

I was struck by the comment just before yours when they stated that it would be dangerous to send a puffy battery through the mail, and it surely would no doubt... It sounds like you have had a battery issue or two in your time, and had to deal with TRAXXAS in doing so... After viewing your channel(I subbed) I can say that I definitely believe you... Got a question, the batteries that I have had replaced just a few short months ago for being puffy are beginning to puff themselves... You think they will replace these as well..??? I was actually going to cut the loss and go a different company for batteries all together... I just know that I am going to need them for something big someday... ESC, MOTOR, Etc...

Amen Brother...!!! I'm with you on this one... Just picked up a 3 cell 6400mah 50c by Venom and I love it...!!! I can actually tell the difference between the 25c Traxxas battery to the 50c venom... The burst on the Venom is crazy, and reasonably priced as well...

@@AMAZINGRC venom is bad value, the lipos are okay

Crazy thing is, this was the last Venom batteries I bought.. LOL. Still use that battery from time to time. Usually when I do something crazy like drive up a waterfall.. LOL Got to use an old battery for that. Thanks for the comment

Well that's odd... so soon sounds like the defect that people talk about on this video. The good news is, Traxxas Is really good about getting things fixed up pretty quick. Grab your receipt and give them a call and they are pretty good at getting you fixed up. I am interested as to how things are working down there at Traxxas due to this pandemic that's winding down. Let us know how things turn out and thank you for dropping a line.!!

@@erick1076 even better idea.! I am sure that they are under contract with either Traxxas or the vendor themselves to just replace the batteries. Very good. It does suck a little that they puffed up a bit in the initial run... pretty rare I would think...

@@AMAZINGRC yeah. First truck since the hpi sprint days. Didnt help that i didnt have the battery springs installed because they cane with no instructions so i didnt know what they were until later last night. But broke a pushrod and a-arm on the first run too. Accidentally ran it up under my roommates car

Lesley Jordan 😁👍 I have been dealing with Traxxas now for about 5 years directly and I can say that there has been minimal if no issues with their customer support team. Don't get me wrong, I have heard a few horror stories about everyone of the RC companies that are out there. I just haven't had any to talk about myself with Traxxas. It's not like when I asked Team Associated for four screws that they left out of a b61 kit and all I got was the runaround. Ended up having to purchase the screws separately. The team associated buggy was amazing, customer service not so much. Thank you for your input on this subject and checking out one of my videos...!!! 👍👍😃🏎🏎🏎

I feel dumb for asking but there asking fir the serial numbers on the lipo battery's is that the bar code number?

There is no such thing as dumb question, Brother... There are several numbers on a Traxxas Battery to look at...I'm not sure if they asked me for a "serial" number… Looking at one of my batteries I can say that they did ask me for the Part Number, the date of purchase, and a copy of the receipt... When I hear serial number, I think a number individually specific to the item.. So I am not exactly sure what they were asking for.. They are open today so I would give them a call back and get some clarification.. Sorry it took a day to get back to you on this one, I'm usually a bit quicker..lol..! Hope this helps a little..

well I wasn't sure what they where looking for ether they ask for pick of the batteries i sent them then they said that they wanted picks of the other side of the battery's then they asked for even more picks and im like wtf so i took pick of the front back side to side in side the connectors the wires on both side and they finally accepted them as bad so there gonna send me 2 new ones but i had no idea what serial number they where looking for. I was looking on line where the serial number might be I couldn't find any thing. well at least there gonna send out some new one I also showed the the recite.

Bryan S 😂😂😂 thank the heavens that they are going to send you some batteries after all of that...!!! They ran you all the way through the wringer..!! They must have been looking to see if maybe the batteries received any damage, or they were puffy, or whatever. No serial number though, not sure what they were trying to have you do there. Good news is, Bryan with a Y has two brand new batteries on the way..!! I think we can still say that Traxxas has a decent, to good track record still down there with customer service. They may ask for us to jump tandem out of a plane, but when we hit the ground they'll send us some batteries..!!!😂😂😂 Thanks for the great conversation, this was a lot of fun ..!👍🏎

Genesis RC & FPV ---- I'm currently using a pair of 50C venom 3cell lipos for my 6s and they work much better. I need a pair of 4cell lipos now that I have upgraded the xmaxx... I do not buy traxxas batteries now if I can help it...

Justin's RCs --- since I posted this video I have had the same happened to myself as well. I have just had an issue with my 8's X Maxx ESC and Traxxas was all too happy to fix it, I just was required to pay for the shipping to Traxxas. I declined, and fixed it myself. So, I believe your statement is 100% true, it just happens to be that sometimes you get lucky and sometimes you don't. Now with that said, I've never had a bad experience with customer service at Traxxas. But they have since asked me to pay for shipping. Great comment, thanks for stopping by...!!!

I am 100% behind you on the batteries by TRAXXAS...!!! I have dumped their batteries altogether as well, however for a different reason... I did not appreciate how TRAXXAS cornered you into purchasing their chargers... Believe it or not I only own the two batteries from TRAXXAS that you see in the video... I wanted to purchase two 4S LiPos for my X-MAXX and found out that the #s dual charger that I just purchased just three months prior was not going to be able to charge the new 4S batteries... I went to Venom and am currently checking out new options as well... I ended up with a dual charger by Dynamite rated at 6S, and I love it so far... I am feeling you on the RTR comment as well... I think that your Tamiya thought is spot on, I am building a kit right now by Team Associated and I was surprised at the price compared to only last year. (16%+) So I think you may be on to something...!!! (kinda hope you're wrong...lol...) The one thing I still stand by is the Customer Service at TRAXXAS is amazing...!!! Now I have had issues with TRAXXAS (4) separate times in 7 months because I buy quite a bit of TRAXXAS. Until they give me a hard time down there I will be forced to support their Customer Service Dept. One thing remains true... there are changes to the RC industry over the last few years that the diehards can sense...!!! Great Comment...!!! I'm headed to check out your channel now... Joe M 👍 I keep my batteries in a battery bag by Proline. You can pick them up in various sizes from a single battery to multiple batteries, and from multiple companies. They also make a box called BAT BOX, they run about $60 and are the ultimate in battery storage. 5 batteries could ignite inside the bat box and not only will it keep the fire from harming anything inside your home it will also filter the really bad smoke to where it doesn't harm you when inhaling it. kyle mecham 👍👍👍 thank you so much for your comment, Kyle. I have had wonderful experiences with the customer service department at Traxxas. I have been dealing with them now on a serious level for about a year. In that time I have noticed now, as of recently that they are a little less friendly with things like paying for shipping on a warranty item. I have now had to have 3 warranty issues serviced by Traxxas. The third time they are now requiring me to pay for the shipping to get the 8S ESC to them. I refuse to buy any more Traxxas batteries, I feel it unnecessary to change the terminal in between a 6S and 8S model x-maxx. With that said, I am still a staunch supporter of the company. I absolutely love new information, and I am a sucker for documentaries. So I am going to research the Eastern Texas, Traxxas, patent story. It sounds like a very interesting topic indeed. I am extremely busy with the new amazing RC custom RC shop at the moment so you will have to give me a week or so, but I am going to read over the information and comment back to you and let you know my opinion on the whole subject.
