Great video! The hesitation when initially accelerating or just after braking is probably due to cogging. This is common among brushless sensorless ESC/motor setups. Basically, the motor is just trying to figure out its position so that it will spin the correct direction. This is similar to a brushless quad or airplane motor twitching the props 1-2 mm when first powered on. Having a sensored setup (using a sensor wire to connect the ESC & motor) can help eliminate this cogging. (Your VXL motor does not have this option.) I wouldn't worry about it, this is perfectly normal.

Hi Kevin! Great Videos! My Truggy sort of had the same problem. Check what motor timing you are running with the ESC. Having it set too low can make it stumble.

Dirt gets inside the axle because the rubber rips and also when the rubber rips the pins falls out

For the delay in your electronics, I noticed that my Dad's velineon system in his Pede actually has quite a bit of delay. I think the motor coggs at very low speeds, so the only way to fix the problem is probably to replace the motor with something that won't cogg. I don't know what motor that would be, but you might want to look at Castle Creations. Don't know how much of a difference that would make but you can always try it. Hope this helps!

Maybe you gome some faulty Driveshafts. The "Klonk" sounds similar like the problem that i had on a RC with Dogbones. I found out that the dogbones had to much play. I dont know how these driveshafts are build up, but i would check them.

Go to Tekno outdrives as they have a 6mm stub on the outer bearing, if you go this route also pick up the XO-1 front knuckle and rear hub.

I'm pretty sure there's a rebuild kit for those shafts. So I would think you can get new boots if they crack.

They do make replacements parts for the Traxxas metal driveshaft Traxxas has a kit u can buy. I have 2 4x4 Slash trucks that I run them in. I have broke one before but other than that they hold up good for me. I am just running 3s though so 4s or 6s might kill them 😂

I have a traxxas stamped truck it is ruggid I've flipped it a lot hard on concret but it has not broken

they're not bad but if you're really going to be bashing go mip really heavy duty also did you ever think about also putting 17 millimeter tires on for Speed runs so you can have belted tires I use grip, no ballooning summer rated up to 180 mile an hour

Since Ive been watching your videos on Traxxas Slashes ive always wanted one since ive been saving up but everyones got to agree there abit to much for my liking but ill make the money some how and get one soon :)

I did the same thing a couple of weeks ago. Seems to be a weak point. Dunno if it’s worth upgrading them. Seem people break the expensive MIP ones too.

I have a himoto ziege and it flys but i have a feeling that your slash isent cutting out its your back diff my car did the same but sadly in aus traxxas prices are more than double in some cases so check out your diffs 👍

Check your punch modes on the esc

If you found out why ur slash was cutting out like that what was it I think it's somthing to do with the controller or receiver cuz mines doing it to an i have a bran knew esc an motor so it couldnt be that

I'm running those same cvd axles and only broke one running a 4600kv castle creations sidewinder 4 motor

your problem is the telemetry turn it counter clock wise all the way and it will work fine

I have those traxxas heavy duty shafts on my Stampede 4x4 vxl and I have never had any problems with them. However I only use 3s with that rc. Hope they work for you well! Btw another cool video Kev!

maybe a faulty receiver Kev... I had the same problem with my axial bomber, spektrum radio and receiver, swapped out the rx and problem went away. you never know, could be motor, esc .....etc

How can it break both wheels off. Traxxas ;) For the cogging, try calibrating the ESC again, it looks like a wide neutral zone to me.

Get 8s Steve to program it to punch level four

try getting the monster fusion body and 2.8 wheels for your slash, it could be a really good basher then

you might want to get the castle 1406 2850kv where its rated for 4s, you might have burnt up the motor with the extra stress.

I had the same problem with my remote and receiver I changed them both and calibrated the ESC should work after

I had the same problem with my xmaxx. 6s esc and 8s esc (power up kit) I recalibrated the transmitter and the problem was solved

i got the same ESC and when i got it it did the same thing to me and did not do it with stock.

I'm thinking its probably a lose pinion gear or your motor/ESC is using too much "juice" for the battery to handle.

I had the same problem with a smaller car, the ESC started doing it all out of a sudden. I was going to go brushless anyways so I just changed it, but if that's the case then you can probably just re-program it up.

Thats What happens with Plastic Axles ... you can't run more that 3s or you will bust from torque The traxxas metal axles may solved this issue

the solution is a 5th scale hobbywing motor and esc

Not sure how you managed to brake both rear wheels like that. LOL Dumb luck I guess. I have beat the crap out of my slash 4x4. I have broken about everything on it at this point. But I still have only broken one front axle like that and I hit a pole at like 40mph on throttle to do that. LOL I replaced all the Traxxas shafts with Tekno RC ones and have not broken another one since.

I've broke a lot of those axles.. But not like that!

Hi mate just a quick question, I have just brought 2 new 5000mah 3s peak power plant batteries and put them on for there first charge today but the charger stoped at around 50mins but they had only reached 1600mah I then tried to use them on my car and they didnt have enough power to move it. I then charged them again and they only charged about 400 mah ?? However the batteries are at 12.6v ?? If you have any ideas let me know. Keep the good vids coming you will go far on RU-vid. Cheers

Its your motor i had the same issue after i ran my traxxas velinoen motor you should go get a 3800 castle motor but could be a setting in the esc but i doubt it traxxas velineon motors suck man
