This power system isn’t intended to replace the VXL. It’s to replace the brushed system which it is leaps and bounds ahead of. This is a beefy truck with semi low power, it’ll last and be fun

i like mine alot yeah the electronics aren't the best but its better then brushed.i have already ran about 10 packs in the backyard/bash spots i got a smile on my face, its def my leave in the truck rc. if the slash i bought had a brushless system when i first got into the hobby i probably would have kept it. thanks for the reviews!

Great job as always. It's so easy to listen to your honest commentary. Personally I only have 2s and 3s RC's. I have never had the opportunity to drive anything above 3s but for me I can hardly stand to run 2s because it's just not enough power for really having fun off jumps. You made it look good because you are a very skilled driver. 👍

Nice over view of the truck and run at the end. Always enjoy your videos. I will agree with others it’s a bit pricy for what it is. However, I do really like this truck. I like the upgraded plastic parts with their extreme duty parts I find they do hold out well. I’m thinking of getting one of these to bash around in the yard with during our long winters ☃️🇨🇦. It’s got the extreme duty parts for cold weather bashing and I won’t feel too bad about getting the truck full of snow compared to one of my 1/8 rigs 😂. The 2S system probably is plenty for my smaller yard also, my 3S rustler is over kill. Later I might throw my 3s system from my rustler 4x4 in it and sell the rustler as a roller I’m not sure or upgrade the rustlers system and keep both.

Tell you what, I got into RC a few years ago (during the pandemic, like many others) and my first car was a brushed Rustler 4x4. These 2S brushless re-releases are really cool for new folks, particularly with the EHD upgrades. The most common breakages I had once upgrading to the VXL-3S were hubs, arms, shock towers, and driveshafts and it seems like they are the central focus of the upgrades. If I had just gone with these things out of the gate (granted they didn't exist yet) I would have spent a lot less money replacing parts. So overall it's pretty cool. Nice review Razor!

So far its not a replacement for the 4x4 vxl but rather the 4x4 brushed version. But i think the 4x4 vxl will be treated with the same body and HD suspensions parts in the future. The 4x4 brushed was alwys extremely underpowered and pushing the 12turn Titan motor way over its limit , resulting in cooked motors pretty fast.
@RazorRC
@RazorRC 8 месяцев назад
Yeah, it really is just a slightly better brushed Stampede 4x4, but at $330 it's competing with the big boys (Granite BLX, Rival MT10) and is way out of its league in the electronics department.

They already have the Hoss, so I doubt they’d make a second brushless 3s monster truck with this chassis and body design. That would just be cannibalizing their own product. It is a much better 2s 4x4 than the old brushed models though. They used to retail for $350 if I remember correctly, and that was way more than they were worth. This new system is almost the same price with better performance.

All they did was take the chassis from the Hoss, removed its wheelie bar, replaced the aluminum driveshaft with composite, changed the color scheme of the body, put the extreme heavy duty upgrade kit on, and replaced the 3S, high-torque system with a 2S brushless system. I mean, once I typed it out, it seems like a lot of changes, but it reallly isn’t. And what they did change isn’t even an improvement to the design (apart from the extreme heavy duty upgrade kit). Traxxas tough to be long lasting pretty fast and fun, not intended for the same buyer as the 3S granite more intended for the brushed four-wheel-drive buyer/first real rc. This guy is focusing too much on what he thinks the truck should be and not on what it is. A replacement for the old Stampede 4x4 brushed version. It was a weird play by Traxxas to cannibalize their own product by making a Stampede 4x4 using the Hoss, but I own a Hoss, and it’s a fun truck, so this new vehicle should be good for beginners. It should have been called ‘Hoss 4x4 brushless’ though. It’s a little expensive for a 2s brushless truck, which I think is mainly due to the fact that it has the Extreme HD upgrade kit, all the parts for which are more expensive than the regular ones. It’s definitely a better deal than the old brushed 4x4’s, which were $350 if I remember correctly. Performance wise, it does look like it would benefit from more speed. Mark Santa Maria has reviewed this system, and said that it runs cool enough that you can easily gear it up several teeth, so you should maybe do that and see how the system handles it.
@RazorRC

What it is, is the slowest brushless 1/10 RC car on the market today at the same price as the competitor’s 3S cars that go 50mph out of the box. If that’s what Traxxas was going for, they succeeded.
@falcondragonslayer
@falcondragonslayer 8 месяцев назад
@@RazorRC Sure, it’s the slowest brushless 1/10 scale on the market. So what? I don’t think Traxxas intended it to be a competitor to the Granite. The BL-2S system is clearly meant to replace the XL-5 brushed system. A.K.A: an affordable brushless system for beginners that doesn’t have the drawbacks of a brushed system. And, as I’ve said, which you skated over, was the fact that the system is probably able to handle higher gearing than the stock ones.
@RazorRC
@RazorRC 8 месяцев назад
@@falcondragonslayer slowest brushless system is not a big deal when the car costs the same as other 3S cars? really? tell that to the kid who buys this when his friends buy a Rival MT10 or Granite 3S and blows his Stampede out of the water for the same price. I didn't discuss gearing earlier, because I had no idea whether you can gear it up, and neither do you since no-one has actually geared it up. Having said that, I just tried it. Despite you all hating the new Stampede name and thinking it should be a Hoss BL-2S, I think the name 🤟HOSS 🤟 has foreshadowed the Stampede 4x4. And I like the Stampede name WAY better for 2 reasons. 1. It has a the same exact chassis but it has been changed and remodeled. 2. The layout is exactly the same as the older version. I really don't see the appeal behind these new BL-2s systems. These don't go much faster than the older brushed systems. You can't even hook up a different speed controller to the motor because of the quick-connect system, which I see really as more of an attempt to make the system only work with it's complementary electronics rather than allow for ease of use. Nobody frequently disconnects their motor wires to the point where it needed to be reinvented. And these are expensive. Trucks at this price point are running on 3s. The brushed 12T may have been underpowered for many of the 4x4 beginner models, but $330 is asking too much. It's effectively a 2s-only hoss, which is somehow still overpriced. You could gear it up by a good amount considering it's conservative stock gearing and all the venting, but it's not hitting 50 like the competition is.

So far, Traxxas has sued Losi, Hobbico, HPI, Redcat, ARRMA, Maclan, Skulldugery, and probably more. This bully known as Traxxas has patented designs that they not only didn't invent, but have been used for years in the industry. The worst part? While Traxxas was suing for simple things like rubber o rings, double servos, or lay down shocks, Traxxas was stealing things like complete car design by TheJang's Chimera A (including the color scheme) and relabeling it a Telluride. Traxxas is a Texas lawyer with some cheap plastic products to sell you in order to kill the market with RTR's like they did HPI. They REALLY put the ASS in TraxxASS

Arrma Gorgon looks better than this. At least it is 3s capable.

Not out of the box it isn't. The brushed esc will only run on 7 cell nimh and 2s.

Honestly, you really need to be a big Traxxas fanboy, to choose this over a Granite 3S. Same price, with twice the speed and power with matching durability (mine has been through hell and broke only minor parts). For your money, this just isnt there. Bigtime pass.

Traxxas is a scum company. Even tomley RC agrees. I'll never support such a spiteful company. This hobby would be larger if it wasn't for TrASSas
