My Traxxas Summit running a Tekin RX8 ESC and a 2250Kv motor. This was my first run with this set up. Ended up smoking the slipper clutch later the same day. SCRC www.scrcrawlers.com Tires- store.rc4wd.com...
Thanks for your kind anwser.I've to apologetic about my poor English listening. I'm from Taiwan, and I have three 1/10 summits too.Two have regular motor, and otherone has RX8 on it.Summit is a nice, fun R/C car.My two cute boys and I all love it.Thanks again,swezy207. ohm....I'm Richard,by the way.it's so nice to watch you sharing.
I have that same motor in my Hyper-10 SC. I love it. It really packs a punch. If your truck is wheelying so much, you should gear up a bit on the pinion. The motor can obviously take it. And I'd tighten that slipper clutch all the way down. The more it slips, the more you'll keep burning them out. The drive train will handle it just fine. If anything needs to give, it'll be the tires slipping a bit instead of your slipper clutch. Same effect, less damage. Nice truck, though!!
Wow...that motor is pushing a ton of power. You need to firm up the rear shocks. You see it squat big under throttle and its causing you to have the truck flip. If you leave the shocks that way, you need to add some weight to the front end. A friend used some melted down 2oz fishing weights on his. Think he has 4-5 melted into a rectangle. Then he mounted them up front slightly behind the bumper. He also tuned his shocks a bit firmer than out of the box. His truck still squats but settles down very fast and it is alot harder to flip. And a plus to the weight in the front (minus less flipping) is he can crawl stuff better. The weight causes the nose to dip when climbing. Thus it makes things like the parking block you went over faster and easier with a ton more control. As it makes the front dip on stuff like that so you cant get high centered easily...seeing the nose dips, the front wheels make contact on the ground at almost the same time as the back wheels come off the ground. Meaning constant traction an less chance of getting hung.
Ive had a lot of request for more extreme terrain... these tires are horrible on most surfaces. I will try to get another video up in a week or two. Thanks for your interest!
Just put the 40 series rock crushers on my summit and it looks great!! Thanks for the idea! Please post more videos of your summit with the ROCK CRUSHERS
I did upgrade my slipper to the HD Traxxas one. It has worked well... until the last outing. It started slipping pretty bad by the end of the day. I heard there is a slipper with 6 pads instead of 3, I might try that one next.
Hot Racing makes the 6 pad "double up" slipper. You will need 2 sets of traxxas slipper pads to put on it, Im going with the HD pads again, they worked well for a while for me. Im going to order mine pretty soon.
That thing is awesome. Very fast looking. You need to put a wheelie bar on it so you can rip it high speed without having to worry about the car flipping over.
hey I have a question as I just put 120 down on a summit from my.local hobby shop. did you have any overheating problems with the 7 s lipo and the r 8 motor and esc combo? and did you have to change your gearing?
@TeamLik Yea, I have steel center drive shafts, I will get the others as they break... I know they will, but we'll see how long the stock ones last! Just got a 17t pinion to put in it, and im waiting on my new slipper. I'll make some more videos soon!
To much power for the purpose of the SUMMIT - You better bought a e-revo... The stock motor setup is really great for crawling and light bashing. But I love the paint of the body!
NICE!! i have summit with brushless i fell love it! LAST LONG! brushed suck.. sorry i said that.. lol i have hard time to choose which kv for my summit 4s with 2250kv like your or 6s with 1550kv reason i think about 6s bec esc will running more easy than 4s bec of high amps (if right kv match 6s and keep under 40k rpm) also 6s will last long time play. right now i have tekin 2650kv on my summit 4s last 1.5 hour while 6s (with parallel) it last 4 hour and still can play more but i stop. so i am curious are u happy with 4s or maybe wish go to 6s? thanks!
In this video, I am running stock gearing. Since then, I put a 17t pinion on it. It is crazy fast with a ton of power. Wheelies on demand any speed. Im used to crawlers, so I have to get use to such a touchy throttle.
Ive gone up from a 17t pinion to a 20t pinion... works a little better, more top speed but will still wheelie anytime I want it to. I also upgraded to a HD slipper thats tightened all the way, and since have snapped two axle shafts.... so... I got MIP axles.
150c (GOOD LORD!!) AND I LOOOVVEEE THE STOCK SETUP ON MY SUMMIT!!(THEN AGAIN IF I WANNA GO FAST I JUST,BRING OUT MY 6S EREVO(((((THE BEST 2 RC TO OWN(MOST/MOST OF THE PARTS YOU CAN SWITCH OUT;)
thanks for the info, much appreciated. I was just checking those out seem to be well priced and lots of good reviews, I think the 7.4 7600mah 40-80c 2s looks good for now until I get a better esc. But when I get that I want as much juice to that dewalt as I can, don't care if it wears brushes as they are cheap to replace and should be lots of fun. :)
Ive gotten alot better at driving it, you just have to have a soft trigger finger... Im used to full throttle with my crawlers, so I had to teach myself to ease into it, and be light on the throttle. It is now a blast to drive.
wow man great work, your summit looks bloody awesome!!! love the paint and dam those tires are shimmy!!! i gunna get some for my summit... thumbs up mate, subbed too
It has stock gearing in this video. since then I have put a 17 tooth pinion in it. with such a powerfull motor I didnt lose any torque, I gained some top speed tho.
who makes the 6 pack slipper, I'll give it a shot, each dewalt is 1650kv, that's a lot of torque and 6 sounds better than three, I grabbed the HD slipper spring from KD and might as well do it all at once
@DJspiffyFISH actually if you know anything about batteries... series will double your voltage, which means it is 4s, and parallel will double your run time (mah).
I dont drive in water.... Its a mess afterwards anyway. Tires fill up with water, axles get crap wrapped around them. Im fine driving on dirt with ungodly power.
I have absolutely nothing bad to say about Max Amps. Awesome batteries, great customer service. The only downside (like anything worth a damn) is price. These guys even sent me a hand written letter thanking me for my service. The batteries came with a card that says exactly who built it in case of any trouble. So, I guess if your a broke ass... then stay away from awesome Max Amps.
I have twisted both driveshafts, snapped 2 axles, melted the slipper 2 times, and I just destroyed my 3rd diff.... so yea, id say ive had some issues with the drivetrain. lol
I dont know. I run both 2s batteries in series so that it is 4s. I have never run just one battery in it. While crawling or trailing around, I can go for maybe 2 hours, but with all that power, I cant just go slow the whole time! lol
What kind of motor is in that summit iv got a summit too I want that motor man that was awesome on your summit and what kind of wheels do you have on your summit
