7:20 everyone has their own techniques. plz dont over fill your Rcs with grease, the little dirt that will get in their will turn into a grinding paste, by bye gears, best option is use black silicone on the joint cracks from the outside , as it is peelable/removable.

It’s just red and tacky that you paid too much for. You don’t need to grease anything like that. It all gets thrown off anyway. Plus over greasing causes drag.
@avocares
@avocares 2 года назад
The correct amount of grease is as much as it will take without overheating. Without documentation trial and error is only way to figure out. It does look like Red and Tacky, which is an odd choice for the differential, but an awesome choice for the axle shaft housings.

Looks like he don't drive it enough to know these things. I have a udr myself and will never put that much grease on anything in there. Plus that body still won't last with the tape

I was looking for this comment... I was always of the impression that too much grease is not good and he drowns the thing. Personally I would go for the dust covers and some metal skid plates and thats it.

Greasing the axle..."OH YEAH" 🤣 I really enjoy these vids! You share the same eye for foresight, detail and handling as myself. I'll be purchasing a UDR in the near future and have been doing quite the fair share of research to know what maintenance, mods and spare parts to prepare for and have on hand when I do. I really appreciate the work you do here! Keep it up!! 👍👍

Hey Man! Been a long long time. How are you? This is RC Antics, I changed my username because i dont do RC that much anymore, but this truck made me rear my head again. I might be picking one up this week. Really sad to see Associated killed the Rival while I was on Hyades. I also bought an MGT 8.0 before i left, basically its a nitro rival, so with parts support being an issue i dont know what to do with my 2 monsters. But I am really looking forward to getting back into it, getting my hands on one of these and starting a new build.
@sergeysmelnik
@sergeysmelnik 3 года назад
Im never buying team associated ever again. I just got rid of a really nice SC8e because the front axle was showing some wear and there are no replacements available because Associated disconinued the truck years ago and stopped making parts. Ive wanted a UDR since it came so this was a good time to switch plus Traxxas will always have parts.

I definitely feel that it is a good fix for the issue but more of a Band-Aid. A friend of mine has done the same thing and still had to perform constant maintenance just to clean up the inside of the axles. Unfortunately it’s just a design for with the truck. If you run in dirt and dusty conditions you will have a lot of maintenance. As far as my truck I have not taken the axles apart since this video and everything has held up great

I see how grease prevents water from entering but doesn't it make sand and dirt stick better onto it? And once sand and dirt is stuck onto the grease it'll just stay there and create like a grinding sanding effect. Which in turns will wear out the parts quicker. I believe in using grease internally and sealed off but not exposed so that other elements could stick to it.
@roadrash76
@roadrash76 2 года назад
I agree but with such a deep layer of grease like his added to the axle housing shafts, it would take a lot of effort for the sand/dirt to reach the gears.

I dont want to knock your video cause your on the right path but if you watch rc sparks when he greases an axle a little goes a long way and to much can actually damage your gears as far as dirt coming in the rear axle through tge tubes id try to adapt a bearing in the tube thats how axial combats it then you add a small amount of grease to the bearing and very little gets to the diff

Why not use a gasket maker to create your seals instead of Grease?
@EVERYDAYRC
@EVERYDAYRC 5 лет назад
It’s a good idea but I think it’s a little overkill. The grease will create a nice watertight seal that’s not to permanent

@@EVERYDAYRC gasket sealant isn't permanent either and scrapes right off fairly easily

I love that you’re taking care of your truck, but just looking at it’s condition kinda tells me that you really aren’t enjoying it to it’s full potential. This is a Baja truck and it looks brand new out of the box. Go out and hit some dunes, dirt tracks, short course indoor tracks, go get it alittle dirty and you will soon realize that your excessive amount of grease will cause more harm than good. To better seal the rear axle an o-ring can be used in combination with grease. I personally would use 1/2 the grease you used inside the axles as when they are closed up and spun, it will all get thrown away to the sides.

Thanks bro! It’s all good you can use any high-quality grease. There is a grease that I like to use from the STIHL Corporation. It’s meant for Power equipment but it works great For RC cars

No, that is spray. The grease that I am talking about is for hedge trimmer gearboxes but it is absolutely top quality. Here is the link. rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F142761154644

If you watched the video I shared the info my friends had sent me on the truck and the problems they were having and they suggested to Address some of these issues before I drive the truck. Since this video I have driven the truck a lot and have not had any issues.

@@EVERYDAYRC im just giving you shit dude. i actually opened up my motor case this evening and greased it up with some Red high temp bearing grease, from which your video motivated me to do . to my surprise, they were both bone dry from the factory. actually made the driveline significantly quieter since it was greased.

This truck has been nothing but problems for me. It keeps pulling to the right now no matter what. The steering servo went out right away, the transmission gear went out, and the brushless motor came loose and chewed up every gear...
