That's a great Up-grade for the motor E..... I had a similar issue with my XMaxx as to the noise coming outta it under throttle.... So went to HR gearing and it runs twice as quiet as the stock gearing...... The RC runs great and basically you almost hear nothing but the motor humming along more than anything..... as always E......Thanks for the wrenching Demo..... I for one have benefited from your efforts......
Earl as always excellent videos. I've tried those aluminium washers from Traxxas, be easy on how much your torque them down they bend and bow real easy, if those don't work for you try the hot racing ones they are made of stainless steel and you can torque them down a bit more.
i agree must go through your RC’s nut, bolts just like you told me i got a exb with every part that goes into metal with no lock tight. thank you for your new and past advise
How you doing Earl I heard about Ken Block from RC car garage that is a sad thing man you wonder greatest afro races I ever seen and I'm sorry that he's gone and looking at your video today man really bring special meaning to me man because it brings back and make me feel good to know that you out here still doing videos thank you Earl 😢💯🙏and I appreciate what you do
Yes I sent Rc guy the link early this morning as I heard about Ken last night at midnight and didn’t see any new station talking about it I thought it was a bad joke then realized it wasn’t 💯
Yes those washers are very rigid and I’ve found that aftermarket gears sometimes have tighter mesh and noisy… got rid of pins and mesh it myself… a lot quieter but found that setting mesh while rolling wheels to find tight spots and adjust as needed… crazy but I believe gears are sometimes never perfectly round 🤬🤬🤬
Great video Earl my x maxx did the same exact thing to where I can't get the mess right using the pin system so I just removed the pins and mashed it myself and that's the only way I was able to get a good mesh with the gears and I'm using Traxxas 50t spur gear
My other xmaxx is the same and is fine removing the pins leaving the motor to move under hard crashes and landing is not what I want but I do understand ppl do it 👍💯💯
Sucks that changing the shaft didn't get rid of the noise. Seems like the only other options are that gear, or the motor shaft. You'll get it sorted out sooner or later.
Check out the WFO gear setups and debore shaft for the X-Maxx. It replaces the cush drive. I know you like the Kush drive because it gives... Kush... Lol But WFO is extreme quality.. yeah it's terrible when that pesky thing called. Your job keeps calling you.. hahaha
WFO racing , they got the stuff , funny , there 5 blocks from my house , in good ol' Spokane Washington , you have a great day ! Keep up the videos , I got the M2C motor mount and the mini big block coming for the XRT, I've got the brand new never used motor and ESC up for sale to try n cover the financials
🖖✋🖐️🤚I wonder if you would ever get into building a 5 scale gas rig ? I've built three now , they are a blast , specially if your putting in a sprinkler system 😂 🤣😂😅
I used a Arrma pinion gear and Hot Racing spur gear ..never have any problem ..ground down the stock motor shaft to fit the Arrma D shaped pinion gear..works great
@@earlmoorhead5555 kinda nice cuz ..I believe on that upgraded shaft for cush drive ..has beaing on other end and fits right in that open spot ..keeps the shaft from bending over time ..keeps spur and pinion in line as well..pretty awesome ..just ordered mine little bit ago ..should be here in few days
Might want to try replacing the cush drive housing. I'm having a similar problem with wobbling spur gear. I think its because my cush drive housing has a lot of play / wobble on the drive shaft. Looks like the the center of the housing got rounded out or deformed where the shaft goes through it. I'm waiting on a replacement cush housing to confirm. I also tried replacing the drive shaft, spur gears, bearings and cush drive itself but spur still wobbling.
I put those washers on my Xmaxx and XRT Definitely ads a major improvement on securing the motor it’s more solid for sure. The fact they don’t put any washer at all from factory is ridiculous
Easy to remove the anodizing from aluminum with ez-off oven cleaner. No need to wait for a color unless its a show piece of some sort, honestly I'd kind of like to have a super mixed up bunch of colors and make the ocd people freak out a little :)
HI earl great video. Just ordered those screws for my New XRT. What was the Mod that you did for the front and back bulk heads from cracking? that metal part that you add to help keep the upper bulk heads from cracking? Thanks man
The same part that on the front half of the bulkhead same part number that on the XRT also I showed the installation video with the part number in the video .. the tie bar 👍
Wouldn't it be that the Traxxas spur gear is only held on to one side of the spur gear. Where as the VITAVON CNC 45# HD 1.5Mod. it has the shaft holding it on both side of the spur gear. It should be true that way. Just my thoughts.
Filming a pool scene? What kind of job do you have?? lol... Do you still use the pins in the motor mount? When I put the Castle 2200KV system in my Maxx I used an aftermarket pinion and spur but it is stock gearing. The mesh was absolutely horrible! Since then I removed the pins and adjusted mesh like normal. No more issues!
