Great video , very honest opinions you’re giving. I think I speak for the majority of us when I say I don’t have the money to be replacing/ repairing these things like certain RU-vidrs do. I’ve taught my son, if we break it, no big deal but that means we have to take it home , get parts and fix it, fun is over for that day. Work hard , buy the nice RCs , but there’s no need to be an idiot and purposely break the damn things.
Very well said man 🤝🤝 being winter now I wish I could send this things more for better videos but knowing I risk the plastics breaking and have to fix them myself ontop of tons of other projects can be conflicting
I own both I've spent so much money on my kraton 8s that I cud have gotten 3 of them just so it wouldn't break the cost to bash is 3 to 4 times the amount then the traxxas xmaxx or xrt most people are not wanting to go out and spend 1500 dollars on a m2c or other aftermarket parts put 200 or less in a xmaxx or xrt and there almost unstoppable.
Agreed. I’ve owned 2 Arrma Cars , Senton, and a Krayton. I easily surpassed the price of both in upgrades, and replacement parts. They’re long since gone! I now own an XRT and it’s a Beast !
I have them both and I do a lot of off road racing with both of them every time I take the kraton out Something breaks is either a dog bone or mainly a staring issue And I have EXB If anyone knows of any upgrades I can do to the staring to keep it from breaking please help me out. Anyways I also have the XRT and I drive that just as hard as the kraton have not broken it once 🤷🏿♂️
Both rigs are put together exceptionally well but it all in how you drive and maintenance your rig I have 9 Kraton 8s and 2 XRT and 2 X-Maxx and I like them all the same
Yeah man maintenance is huge on these big boys. That’s one of the reasons I love the Kraton so much I can knock out all three diffs in an hour. The Traxxas is a different story
Dude you really should be getting love and praise often if you're working in a ER 3 12hr shifts a week. Still you'll get the homeless, depressed and suicidal drug addicts that don't care if you worked your ass off to save their life. But the work you're doing is amazing. ❤
Good thing calling out Talbot. I don't care how much 'fun' he is, he does our hobby a disservice. Those of us who grew up in the Tamiya days want something that drives well, scrabbles about in the dirt and does the odd jump. Dumping on a brand because it breaks after sending it 40ft high is like complaining that a Ferrari is poor off-road.
What?, how is he doing a disservice? I might not really enjoy his content but he brings people into this hobby and that’s what keep cash flow in it. Without cash flow this hobby dies. Just cause he breaks vehicles who cares. This is a hobby not something people depend on.
I WENT WITH XRT...you own an arrma you own it all they all look the same freakin thing same design just different shape and sizes so i wanted something different i gotten the xrt altho it feels like a toy grade with all of the PLASTIC
Unfortunately these were aftermarket hardened steel upgraded 18/50 gears. And it didn’t just slip off it moved and shredded half of the pinion! My one friend says that the shaft the spur rides on bends and that’s what causes it too. Vitavon makes the upgrade… 86$ 🙃
Yea Talbot says some funny things, some of my favs are: Traxxas are made of plastic to keep the cost down lol. To who, them for profit margins? Cause they sure as heck aren’t passing the savings onto the customer as their cars are crazy expensive. Traxxas are easier to work on as you mentioned. What? You have to disassemble the entire model to access the diffs and servo. How is that easier? He also takes the arrmas since they are capable of quick rotations and does 3 flips, lands on a single tire and of course it breaks from 30 feet. Then takes the xmaxx and does a level jump from 20 feet with no rotations, lands on all 4 wheels everytime cause it can’t rotate and claims it more durable. It’s like dude, of course a car that is flipping and more rotation capable with off center landings are gonna break more.
Also a good point 🤝🤝 I’ve seen that in other videos it does seem like it’s a gnarly side landing on the front wheels that causes it. Seems to be an easy fix too which is good.
It's pretty much the same bell crank as my X-Maxx. I've had my X-Maxx for like 3 years and have only broken the bell crank like 3 times. And I'm talking about very high jumps with giant electronics. Are they break infantil that part? I know that the wing mount on the XRT breaks easily, but I haven't broken that either. And I've had some crashes and roll overs already. Including an upside down landing.
@@joseCalderon1976 I still haven't broken an XRT bell crank yet either. Crazy how easily that kraton chassis bent though. Definitely gotta go at least EXB. I still haven't bent my k8s exb chassis.
I had a buddy of mine to lock the center diff on my 8s outcast it is so much better he did with jb well it drive so much better it got faster!!!!! It does hellcopter spin of the mucle no strip gears center diff wise !!!!!!! It works try it on that 8s kraten you will love it
I thought you raised some valid points about both of the trucks. They both have their weak points. But in my opinion the arrma has more. Chassis, arms, and shocks. (All of which are no cheap) While the traxxas is mostly plastic it keeps those parts that break a lot cheaper. Im through and through a traxxas guy. I dont “hate” arrma but i think they dont live up to the hype, except for the fire team. Those fire teams are crazy good. Came from instagram and really liked the content, got a sub from me!
Im new to RC cars, thanks to the youtuber your referring too, i found the hobby. Didnt realize how cool the hobby was and how far it came. I will say, that i can clearly understand that hes breaking stuff doing stupid things and i like to the think the adults (not the kids) who watch him understand that. I think he does more good to the hobby than bad.
@@midwestern_rc haha that sounds awesome! I actually found your chan because I was looking for dbxl videos since I just got one and haven't ran it yet. =D
For the longest time I simply couldn't decide. So I bought both. Out of the box first day I bent the chassis ($200+) and destroyed all 4 shocks on the Kraton. I find it heavy, self destructive and VERY expensive to fix. The XRT has been more fun, more durable, more reliable and best of all cheaper to buy and operate. Have I broken an XRT chassis? Sure have but it was $25 bux.
I broke the front bulkhead on my XRT and had to wait six weeks until it was back in stock. And then when I finally had it apart I realized the upper was cracked too. Had to drive 4hrs round trip to get it so I could have my workbench back. I’ve sold the XRT since.
For me nothing will compare to my exb k8 with m2c goodies for big air. But as far as just going out for an average bash I am with traxxas with the light weight plastic trucks
great video im going with the xrt over the kraton seen few people run upgraded servo and a max 6 esc and the truck rips and bashes really hard even tho i liked the kraton but like you just shown the chassis bends like butter but the traxxas parts are cheap as well
Great video. I am just now getting into RC and purchased an Arrma. However, I have never understood why anyone is married to a brand. If you don't do this, you have more choices and more fun. Easy to know who you were talking about when referring to a specific Englishman. I like his videos, but you can tell the bias. Example, he ran a Sledge and nicked a poll and tore the backend off. Did some basing that didn't appear that extreme to me, and ended the video with how tough it was. I was shocked since it seemed somewhat brittle to me. However, it was done in colder weather, so maybe he was adjusting based on that. However, when he looked at the Kraton it seemed to do better, but would say "Arrma tough" every time there was an issue. Although the Arrma looked to hold up better he definitely favored the Traxxas. Keep in mind I am new, so may not have a clue what I am talking about :). Love his and your videos, but not make a buying purchased based on the other person even though I love his videos. You seem much more unbiased, so thanks for that.
What really blows my mind is how he says Traxxas cars are easier to work on. Arrma vehicles take me a fraction of the time to fix compared to a similar Traxxas repair
I have a arrma mojave and xmaxx, both great cars in their own field. Both very easy to work on, actually i love working on them. Part of the hobby i.m.o.! Only annoying thing on the xmaxx is the torque biasing diff. There like almost 40 screws to get to that dang thing
Your opinion on the Maxx v2 vs the Kraton/Outcast4s and the Kraton 6s. I can tell you the Erevo 2.0 is no comparison fro the Sledge. I should have bought the Sledge. Anyway, I’m an #Arrma dude. Love your commentary on the jumping.
Yeah I’ve sold my XRT since this video man. They’re fine the first like dozen battery packs then they start falling apart and I was waiting MONTHS for parts to come back in stock it was ridiculous. Love my Kraton 8S. Easy to work on. And super durable if you know how to drive em and not crash them.
My M2Cified Kraton 8s vs EXB added only 2lbs, guessing from RTR Kraton that would be about 3.5 pounds stock, weigs 26lbs M2Cified.... Not to bad really even with Max5 and 800kv, but I think the M2C Chassis is lighter than the JBIRC one?? Spot on with dialogs 😎👍
M2C chassis is 14G lighter. I just double checked. But I think people think M2C was significantly lighter because they were looking at just the weight of the chassis without the chassis stiffeners installed. Even after installing the JBI 6061 on my O8S though immediately I was like okayyyyy we need more power. I have a pair of the gens ace HV batteries on the way tho. Hopefully those and turning the punch up helps. Still gonna buy a max 5 800 from a friend Wednesday tho and see how I like it (probably going to like it 😬)
@@midwestern_rc yes I run the 800kv max 5 in my Kraton with 37p/39s and it's pretty potent! 🔥🔥 1180kv Hobbystar Max5 35/39 in my O8S is 😜😜😜 Bash on my friend
I feel it comes down to what you expect from your RC Experience. I like 8S cars, for size, and provide better traction on same surface vs thier lighter variants. I DONT do big jumps. I think all RTR servos are garbage, but motor and esc is fine stock (Arrma). I race on tracks Clay and sand. Very little concrete and pavement uses. So for me vitavon, M2C, Scorched, etc are waste of me, but would be great for Shelf Queens, or mere bragging i guess. But, at the end of the day, stock parts will suffice 95% of people, why companies like Jennys RC are so successful.
Very true. This videos like 2 years old now. I just don’t like the big sends and crazy shit anymore. Sold the XRT cuz they’re such a pain to work on when the diffs go or need maintenance. I have the new K8S EXB tho and man stock it is amazing! The servos much better than the V1 too.
Great video and I totally agree with you. I love the way 8s handles but its just way too heavy and expensive for my taste. Arrmas 6s line is the sweet spot for me. I had a Kraton BLX and loved that car. Fireteam is my current setup being converted into a Kraton XL
The fireteam is amazing! I have some other videos on the fireteam you may enjoy. And I agree I wish the 8S Arrma cars were as durable as their 6S line up
The question is how will diffs and drivline cope in xrt with big power! Kraton will love it! Traxxas will have many issues I believe! Seen it before! And you did not add art costs how much more? 3 400 dollars! Arrma every day of the week! Buy a used one get upgrades and max 5 800kv you have an unbreakable beast for same money as a xrt! Traxxas are not as great as Kevin Talbot!!
So I did upgrade to the HD crown gears on the XRT as I had issues with my Xmaxx. But still man if the Arrma diffs are serviced and taken care of they last long! I do maintenance on them every 10 packs or so. By spring both my O8S and K8S will have aluminum chassis and max 5 combos. I may run an XLX2 800 system just for a comparison video. And I agree. He will break a Traxxas and shrug it off. He will then break an Arrma and rip on it and make negative comments. Not cool!
@@midwestern_rc ha ha I enjoy kev's videos no hate here but he calls out fan boys and he is 100percent a traxxas fan boy! I have a RU-vid channel on rc cars it's called baddazz garage! I no longer make videos but there is 10 or so vids you might enjoy! I got over 20k views on one of them! Check them out if you like! Thanks mate!
The XRT and Kraton 8s are both $1,000.. am I missing something? I got an XMaxx but now I’m tryna decide between XRT, Outcast EXB and Kraton EXB. My buddies got the XRT so I was wanting something a little different like the Kraton but man idk 🤷🏻♂️ lol. Which do yall like better?
I recently purchased a Traxxas XRT and love it. Ive never been a fan boy but do love this truck, not to mention how cheap parts are. My first 1/5 scale was my Losi dbxl-e 2.0. I do like it just little more only because of its driving characteristics. I had an issues with the pinion coming loose as well. A little brake cleaner and some sand paper to score the metal's between both & a little red lock tight fixed the issue. This method could work unless you shattered the gears?
I really appreciate you taking the time to make videos. I can’t imagine the time it takes to do it. But I have to ask on the arrma’s if you are going to up grade the electronics why not just start with the EXB editions first?
Full disclosure the Kraton 8S in this video was a gifted promotion. Then my Outcast 8S I achieved in a trade. Rumors have it that they’re coming out with EXB RTRs next 👀
Solid points you've raised and it's nice doing a comparison. Can't wait to get my XRT as they've only just been released here in Aus last week. It'll sit quite nicely next to my X-Maxx. Personally I think the X-maxx is easier to work on than my Arrmas (6s line)... 'Cept the centre differential lol.. And a huge thank you for what you do. Massive respect working in health care mate!!
Bro WHAT are you smoking 😆 how are you claiming the Kraton is a 1/5 scale while the XRT is so much smaller it's really a 1/6 scale??? What??? You literally have them side by side and they are the same size.
It’s the tires that just make them look bigger. Do you own either of these? The box of the Arrma says 1/5 scale. They’re just toys calm down you adult child.
Thanks for explaining differences and showing us great job. I had X-Maxx but didnt like it since it handles like a turtle when you try to turn ;) , got an Arrma Kraton didnt like it because it is so heavy it is almost painful when it lands after a jump, I will try XRT.
Great video! I think you touched on a lot of good points. I don't own either rc, but I think before you buy into these larger rc's you most likely already know your own personal driving style and you can decide which one will be right for you. I'm not sure how much lighter the Xtr is vs the stock Kraton, but being a lighter weight will give you more control to make corrections in the air if you need to. From what I've seen both rcs seem to fly pretty smooth and straight as long as you launch them straight. That is a nice place to run your trucks!!
I agree fully. When it comes down to it too I enjoy just ripping the Kraton in an open field more. I love jumping it. But yeah they’re definitely more prone to breaking. And thanks I love this spot and am so lucky it’s 4 minutes from my house! 😬
I sold my kraton they're a money pit with the build quality of a wet turd! Out of the box utter junk!!! And as you say it's not just t bendy chassis the junk!! Arms and suspension! Yet the deluded fan boyz love them! Arrma dont just bash! Bend!
Lmao I’ve sold the XRT since this video. My Kraton has the upgraded chassis now. EXB parts. And it’s been solid. Kraton is much easier to work on. And I had to wait MONTHS for Traxxas to restock lower bulkheads when the chassis snapped on the XRT. Which also cracked the upper bulkhead and broke the servo and steering. Would’ve been nice if it just had bent….
I have gotten in and out of this hobby so many times every time Arrma comes out with something new I have to get it. I have owned most of them except for the outcast 8s. I must say that my favorite arrma vehicles are the Typhon. 3s is a great basher with a couple of cheap upgrades. And the granite 3s is an unbeatable basher. The Kraton 6s is my go to speed bash King. The 8s Kraton does need some upgrading before bashing it hard it is extremely heavy and takes a toll on those parts
I like my xrt so much I sold my kraton 8s and outcast 8s and stuck to my xrt and xmaxx. I put a max6 on my xrt and that made a huge difference. Then went to the speed gears and was impressed even more. So far I really like my xrt and plan to get a second in spring of next year. Great video with good points about both platforms.
@@midwestern_rc Actually all three. And you can gear up and it will run cooler than the vxl8s does. Just an overall more efficient and more powerful and tunable esc.
Max6 is definately the pick for the X-Maxx aswell. The only thing I like about the VXL-8S is that my daughters can drive their X-Maxxs on training mode and I dont have to worry about them bring extremely hurt, until they get some more time under their belts. I personally have my own X-Maxx and an Arrma 8S Outcast. Yet to break a chassis on either... in time Im sure.
Idk but I’ve sold my XRT since this video. It breaks too and the parts availability is horrendous I had to wait 2 months for a front lower bulkhead. And the gears wouldn’t stop stripping
It’s a shame how expensive these are but yet you have to spend extra money to make it more durable or even the fact you have to buy a battery for it. That’s what’s been keeping me from buying one.
Honestly after owning all sorts of RCs I’d have to say 8th scale Arrmas are where it’s at. The size of a 5th scale is fun sure. But yeah they ALL need money spent on them to be durable and even that they will still break and are more expensive to repair.
Arma a crushes the on road scene. Traxxas crushes the off road. Just my opinion. The arma chassis needs to be addressed. Traxxas electronics need to be addressed.
Well put actually. But Arrma 8th scale is better than Traxxas. I just got a new Arrma Kraton 8S EXB RTR with the revisions. Gonna do a video soon and doing the exact same jump that bent the chassis on the RTR Kraton 8S V1
I agree 100%. They both have their issues but yeah I like the Kraton better overall. The XRT is very fun with jumps tho haha but it definitely needs the M2C chassis brace.
You talkin about kevin lol... Yeah my 7s outcast was easier to work on than my xmaxx but i soent so much time working on the outcast i got rid of it lol
13.2 on a 4dr sedan very respectable. you had me at "its a really stressful job and uh, i hate it!" more of us need to focus on mental health. work life 'EFFECTIVENESS' is what we changed the term to. cause i dare anyone to try and 'balance' it. 😅
I have not but from what I’ve seen the redcat isn’t the most reliable. The XRT is a good truck. Get a chassis brace from M2C racing. Plan on upgrading the servo and wheels and tires. Oh and the wing mount get a 3D printed one. Then it’ll be able to handle quite a bit of bashing.
The Scale is BS on both Arrma and Traxxas. Its just marketing, a Losi 5ive-T is a true 1/5th scale. Compare them to that. The Losi Super Baja Rey/Super Rock Rey are 1/6th scale and properly advertised, and THAT is where ALL of the Arrma AND Traxxas 8S models are - they are 1/6th scale. X-Maxx, XRT, Kraton 8S, Outcast 8S - ALL 1/6th scale. Arrma makes Great 3S, 4S, and 6S trucks, but in terms of large scale, Arrma will NEVER compete with Traxxas - and this comes from an Arrma fan, I own 5 Arrma trucks and 0 Traxxas trucks. Why? Arrma is too heavy. Because of all the Aluminum, a Kraton 8S weighs over 25 pounds, while the XRT weighs 21. Thats a BIG difference, in fact the entire weight of an Arrma 3S truck fills that gap. On top of that, Arrma engineered their 8S trucks the CHEAP way - the STUPID way. Instead of engineering a new platform, they simply super-sized the 6S platform, including the plastics. Thats why the Arms are "Made of glass". Yours seems to do okay, but my Kraton 8S did jumps even SMALLER than that and it shattered both front Arms on landing, even landing just as nicely as you did. This is because Arrma did NOT change the composition of the plastic going from 6S to 8S, they just scaled it up, which means its far too brittle to handle the massive weight. And it showed when my arms broke - they were clean breaks, like super clean - like a hot knife through a stick of butter clean - there were no sharp edges or any fraying of any kind, the breaks were as clean as brand new parts - not even joking. You said it yourself - the Arrma 8S trucks need some huge upgrades to be any good, most people spend $2000+ before an Arrma 8S is even remotely durable. With the XRT things aren't perfect either but its issues are much more minor and much less expensive to deal with. All you need to do is get hardened steel pinion and spur (about $50), DIY reinforce the wing mount, and think about getting a better steering servo in the future ($100) and that's it - the XRT is now ready for some FAIRLY extreme bashing and will not break. Arrma will NEVER compete with that unless they go back to the drawing board and start over completely from scratch with an entirely new design - which is something we all know will NEVER happen.
Big facts. I have a DBXLE 2.0 and an SBR. Soon I want to do XRT vs both of those individually. I’m actually really shocked with how well the DBXLE handles jumps too! And yeah man these arms flat out suck. I’ve replaced 3 on my O8S. And I haven’t heard the best with RPM arms either
I hear ya brother, kraton 8s broke arm 3 times. The third hit was hard af and totally expected but the first and second arm breaks were from pretty mild jump/landing and not in cold weather either.
@@RCorDIE and unfortunately the RPM arms are so flexible that you end up bending CVDs. I broke my outcast 8S arm in half while at the beach doing sends off my plastic kickers. 50 degrees out. But also a pretty hard send. Got it on film too
My Xrt is absolute JUNK. Glad everyone else is having good luck. 1 month of owning things that broke. Bellcrank,Tires, spur gear, Diff gear, 3sets of upper bulkheads, esc.
I’ve sold mine. Basically same reason. I made this video like a year ago. Sold my XRT like 6 months ago maybe. And that was when all the parts were on 6 week back order. Traxxas sucks.
Idk about the M2C but the 6061 chassis is more than enough for medium bashing and it’ll hold up. Idk how much lighter it is but I do know it being lighter I won’t break as much other stuff
Traxxas trash 🚮 broke smh Arrma is my go to if you bend your chassis you can still drive if your plastic chassis breaks you can’t drive until you get a new one
My xmaxx runs cool on stock gearing so i bumped up to 50t spru, so 18 pin 50 spur , gave it more air control and does wheelies going faster and hasnt been above 141 degrees yet, but its not hot out right now so guess ill see in summer
I’ve sold both of these since this video actually but I sold the XRT to a friend. He just put red loctite on the motor shaft and set screw and hasn’t had issues since
Thanks for making this video , I find it useful. I own the outcast 8s , so I was thinking to get the Kraton 8s or xrt. After watching your video I have the ans for it already. Thanks again.
Glad I could help. And I’ll say this. With the new Kraton 8S EXB V2 I wish I still had my XRT to do another video as the new Kraton 8S EXB box stock is amazing! Should be a video on it soon
I'd like to see one of you guys put some buggy/truggy type wheels and tires. The wider and softer the tire the slower it is on grass. A harder compound and an inch or inch and a half width tires might haul ass.
I gave you a sub and a like for your honesty! (The Tangent helped too! lol) Thanks for your input on the 2 RCs. I decided to go with the Traxxas because of it. 👍
Glad I could help! I’ve sold both of these since this video. I did get the new Kraton 8S EXB V2. But I want another XRT. Be SURE to get a chassis brace for it and the steel pinion and spur gear. If your spur gear keeps shredding or slipping off the motor shaft put red loctite on the motor shaft and slide the pinion in place then put blue loctite on the set screw. The guy I sold my XRT to did that and hasn’t had any issues with the gears since!
Ok. Thank you for the advice! I really appreciate it! Can you believe that I’ve never even seen one of the Xmaxx or Xrts in person yet! I’m 99%sure I’m going to buy a Xmaxx though. I’m an old school R/C Monster truck guy. I just wasn’t sure if I was going to go with Traxxas or AARMA? It’s going to be Traxxas though now. Do you have any advice on the Xmaxx that you would share?
@@bradduranso512 I’ve owned two Xmaxx actually (regret selling both LOL). If I personally had to pick I would say the XRT as it is MUCH more manageable with jumping it and it’s easier to control in the air and do stunts with (once you change out the wheels/tires). If you don’t plan on doing many jumps with it and just want to have fun on the street. In dirt. In grass or sand the XMAXX is a LOT of fun!
I have the k8s exb the minute it came out added the max5 running 30/stock47spur, 20mil cntr diff, thing is a beast. Theres nothing u gota "upgrade" or buy to make it great, it is great out the box is all user error just like u said n the easiest to work on. The xrt is a beast on its own n a beautiful built machine i love it, the only thing is it runs traxxas syntered gears n plastic spur on a 5th scale car😂but like u said throw in a max6 n that is all it needs man is a perfect truck. I find it a little rear heavy hence its famous traxxas roll over but thats just what it is. All in all they both r great vehicles. I wanna add the arrma uses ala porsche style bevel spiral ring gears which greatly strengthens itself alot while traxxas uses the old fashion straight bevel gears which break teeths but it works too nonetheless.
Very common issue. I’ve been running a Robinson racing pinion and hot racing spur with the Xmaxx motor mount washer system and gear mesh set with the pin system. 7 battery packs and no gear issues.
@@JohnPopeye it will likely eventually happen. Just not as quick. Changing to the upgraded pinion and spur is a really simple job though. For when it happens.
I am new to the hobby and picked up a used kraton 6s its like 5+ years old and it never went of jumps but the owner said he also never changed the diff fluid so thats what im trying to do now but im really nervous when i was a kid i could take things apart np but never get them back together lol
Oooooooooh. How much did you get it for? Honestly if possible I’d look into selling it and finding at least a V5. If you break something on that you may not be able to find parts for it
@@midwestern_rc 370$ pretty sure I over paid but I didn't realize it was a V2 till a few days later since I'm new to the hobby but it came with some upgrades a 4s and 6s battery the manual a hobbywing program card brand new db backflips tires 2 packs of fast Eddy bearings and it don't look 6+ years old guy only drove it in doors and never off jumps. I was thinking about selling it or just get a v5 chassis and the v5 plastic kit on Jenny's RC it's less than 50$ for both with shipping and I was told from ARRMA forums the suspension will convert right over
EXB has stronger parts like the shocks. The turnbuckles. The chassis. A front bumper. The motor mount. But the EXB does not include any electronics. So you have to add your own. The RTR has all the electronics and then you can just upgrade the chassis and shocks.
@@teamnevalus6363 the RTR for sure. Go through all the diffs make sure they’re topped off with oil. Put 30wt shock fluid in the shocks. And ease into everything. Don’t do big jumps. Plan on eventually upgrading the chassis too either to an EXB chassis or a just bash it RC chassis. Again. With large scale RCs take it slow and don’t go big. Get to learn the car
Until you need parts and have to wait 6-8 weeks for them. Sold my XRT since this video. After like 20 battery packs through it so much shit kept breaking and so much shit wasn’t in stock anywhere.
@@jonnymaglite666 honestly I’ve pretty much stopped doing YT videos. I was sick of having to send the shit out of these cars just for audience retention and views. I still have my Kraton 8S. I don’t do massive sends but I still jump it and tear it up. It’s been very durable and if something breaks parts are in stock and not bad on price AND THEY ARE WILDLY EASY TO WORK ON COMPARED TO TRAXXASES SHIT ENGINEERING
@midwestern_rc thanks so much for the info. I like the Kraton way better but was reading the comments and everyone leaning Traxxas, I'll at least feel comfortable grabbing the Arrma now
Honestly the new EXB RTR Kraton 8S is gonna be an awesome machine. My biggest tip with these bigger RCs is take jumping them and stunts very very slowly and enjoy the learning process. Your wallet will thank you. And yeah when something does break the Arrma vehicles are a ton easier to work on than Traxxas
Nothing fixes a bad driver, these are expert/advanced rc vehicles. If they break 99% on the driver regardless of brands. Save money, do research, change all fluids upon purchase, use the vehicle for what it is intended for, neither of these are bashers nor made for it. Track trucks aka truggy. 6s is still best bang for $ performance, durability........
I see most of your points but unfortunately most people buy these to bash them. Like where I live the closest track I could race something like this on is 3.5 hours away. I’d much rather drive to this field right by my house and have a ton of fun bashing and smashing it around. And if something breaks I fix it. But my points in this video were related to the 99% of people that buy these to bash them which one is more durable and some opinions coming from a person who owns both and uses both not for their “intended use” like you’re claiming everyone needs to use them for
@@midwestern_rc not claiming "everyone needs to use them for intended use", more claiming that user errors cause more problems than durability with a side of "it's not made for that so don't be surprised if it breaks". And to be fair, why did you not use an exb? The rtr 8s is horrible compared to the exb, especially knowing the $500 off can get you killer ESC/engine combos. I guess for a first time driver the rtr? Also why not say what you get is what you get with the xrt as Traxxas does an amazing job at limiting the user from buying non Traxxas batteries, ESC and engine? Or at least let them know to get a tape measure. :) Great video though and thanks for replying. A lot of RU-vidrs forget that 1/2 thier audience is non experienced drivers, don't want someone hating the hobby cause they don't understand.
@@bobbygrinns3003 fair enough. I misread your comment my apologies. People can just be so aggressive with RU-vid stuff ya know? So I have some newer videos out since this has been posted based off of why you may want the RTR vs EXB and how to basically change certain things with the RTR to make it a more durable version with EXB parts. I’ve actually really enjoyed the stock electronics too to be honest! With the right gearing and changes to the ESC they’re more than enough fun for me (and that’s with the added weight of the JBIRC chassis) And you’re 100% right about RU-vidrs and their audience man. I will stick up for my opinion but I also really try to engage/educate people through my experience, while also stating that it’s also just my opinion 🤝
@@G__Mason waterproof to so that means they are submarines because it's advertised.....? It's shown on a skate park to catch the attention of that following, as there are way more "bashers" than racers. It's 100% a truggy and pretty sure truggy are made for tracks, yup still are a year later.
i have a field like this right in front of my house. short grass too. i wanna get a truck and set up cones to make a oversized grass track. what truck do you recommend for just grass track racing / driving? not bashing. i was thinking either a xrt or xmaxx or desert racer
@@Mr1dvsbstrd I had to go through my Xmaxx center diff and rear diffs 5x when I owned that truck. Absolute nightmare compared to Arrma. And I’ve done the xrt diffs already. Same thing. Compared to Arrma it’s a nightmare
