if the xrt has the durability, reliability, easy of maintenance, light weight of the xmaxx and the handeing of the Kraton I see the xrt as a clear winner, there literally is no point buying the arrma unless your a arma fanboy.
@@nichlaslomholt66 I almost sold my kraton to get the xrt but I decided to keep it and still went and got the xrt. Haven't driven the kraton since I got the xrt.
I'm a Traxxas fan for sure, its what I bought and got lucky and always had great customer service....so bought more of them....but either way someone will have a awesome R/C no matter what one they spend there money on....but keep this in mind Earl Morehead contacted Traxxas on a Sunday and a person answered the phone..they answer 7 days...💯.
I think the comparison is ok. Since both cars play in the 8S class and ultimately both are direct competitors in the market. I love both cars!!! Thanks for the great video Greetings from Germany✌
They may be evenly matched but from what i saw it felt the Xrt handles and turns better. Granted the Kraton might have better tyres but still, the Xrt was turning like an 8 scale. Awesome comparison though! 👌
The XRT turns better for sure but the Kraton seems to launch better, even though the XRT got the wheelie the Kraton stayed flat. It was interesting to see them so close on this test.
I bought a kraton 6s after getting back into the hobby. I just bought an xmaxx last week. From a "regular guy" perspective...the kraton seems more like something an enthusiast would buy with everything exposed and old school body posts and clips. The xmaxx looks like a toy with all the plastic...that being said, I replaced all 3 diffs on the kraton with spiral cuts, got new wheels/tires, front bumper, shock oil, steering servo and a few other things in the kraton. Still love the kraton, it seems much more unhinged, you need more skill to use it effectively. Xmaxx is more for the casual rc guy. I assume XRT would be the same. Let's be real here, most RC guys will buy what they like regardless of brand and deal with the BS that comes with it
Cleanliness matters in the long run. A lot of people with side by sides only take them out when they are ready to undertake the huge clean up. It can be detouring for a quick bit of fun.
@Christopher Pirri if running on a clean track those vents are great but for dusty bashing those vents will end up clogging up all the colling fans and fins.
Facts. Until i got my dusty cover, i didnt like taking it out in anything but grass or street for a quick run. All the fun is in dirt and if i wasnt going to be in it for at least 3 or 4 packs, it wasnt worth it to have to clean it uo after or constanly knocking the gravel that would lodge in the cooling fan.
Great comparison thanks! Im sure stuff for the X Maxx will fit so speed running should not be a problem. As for why so dirty inside I feel it's the vents in the bottom near the steering servo the dirt gets Scooped up and thrown in on landings.
Yeah I noticed that too. I’ve had the Xmaxxes make that noise at the CVD’s under load when they are dry before. I’m assuming the same thing but I did run the Raminator tires on it sooo who knows. LoL
Great comparison. I have the XRT and love it. It is also my first "real" RC vehicle. It does get dirty in the chassis, and in the winter snow really packs in there. Thanks for the video.
Got the kraton 8s and I like it. I have a track that is suited to 1/8 scale but on the large side. The kraton feels a little to big on the track. I think the xrt is going to be a perfect truck for it. I’ve got the Xmaxx and in all honesty I don’t care to much for it, it handles like crap compared to the kraton but it is a fun basher. The xrt addresses that issue and looks like the kraton has a real contender now.
you can tell you are not even giving the kraton part throttle. when you do the tires this is where you can hear and see you get the throttle opened on the kraton . the kraton is faster and it stayed clean wich is huge because that means all your expensive electrics will last a lot longer . you need to get mud guards for your r/cs . they mount on the lower a-arms and keep your axles clean .
I do need mud guards. Both trucks drive very different so that’s why I went back and forth on them. Even swapped batteries. The Kraton in stock form feels week but pulls harder.
First time Kraton owner here, got a screaming deal on one…(I think) original owner ran it like 3-4 times and put it away ….let it sit for a couple years and now nothing will roll or turn on it…wheels locked up and possibly diffs…assuming he put it away wet. It powers up and all so I figured it would be worth the risk…excited to dig into it.
@@ExocagedRC update on the Kraton…got a start on rebuilding it and dang near everything metal part that rolls or turns is rusted solid …couple bearings so far that I was able to break free…(just for fun…lol) spent 2 hrs just on the front end having to soak, heat and pound bearings off components. Bearing kit on the way but man, how time consuming…….at least I got a good deal on it for $200.
Great video I have a Xmaxx , XRT, Sledge I would like to see a video on the XLX2 and 1100kv (Castle Creations) installed on the XRT I have that set up brand new waiting to see what to put it in or should I buy a Kraton 8s to do it I have not seen a video on anyone who did this yet with the XRT
i bought the kraton 8s EXB on sale for about $536. got a bad ass motor setup and servo and its about the same or a little less than the xrt cost me stock. the EXB will run the pants off the stock xrt for the same money i paid between the two. they are both VERY nice trucks, but i prefer to run my kraton over the xrt currently. if i had the same motr setup in the xrt, i still think i would prefer the kraton EXB just because of the beefier tires on it. the EXB has WAY more traction the the stock xrt tires.
Excellent comparison video...the one we were all waiting for from the RU-vids. You can really see from the way it performs that the Kraton is a heavier truck. Interesting how a few extra pounds makes such a big difference. The Kraton really looks less peppy and less nimble. Almost looks like the Kraton needs a bit more than 8S. The XRT on the other hand, it looks like I'm watching an 1/8 truggy driving around the track. At $1K though, that seems to be so much to pay for all that plastic fantastic in the XRT. Granted it gives it that lightness for performance and flexibility to make it absorb the hits so you can't really fault it. That's probably the engineering solution needed to meet the performance and durability requirements in this size of RC on 8S power.
Do u think the newly released Kraton 8s EXB will be better than d XRT out of d box? Many people ve issues w d XRT durability n electronics.. My X Maxx ESC failed on my 3rd pack n XRT seems to ve that issue too
For the money K8s exb wins. I own both. I have done a lot of upgrades to my xrt to improve the reliability. It these are big 1/5 vehicles, I don’t really like to bash them. I have most fun with 1/10 scale.
It’s possible, I’ve heard that with the Xmaxx when the rear CVD’s are dry. Plus I did run the Raminator tires on the XRT and haven’t opened anything up from it.
Kraton all day. Proven durability and it looks way cooler lol. I’ve got a ton of traxxas rigs but to me the XRT is ugly and first gen. Maybe gen 2 I’ll come around
I thought the Kratom stock pinion was 22? Or is that the speed pinion that comes with? I don’t actually know lol I bought mine used and it already had a 34/39 on it. Which was way too damn high for 1100kv, I promptly changed to 30/47. Been thinking about picking up the 800kv and putting the 34/39 back in but we’ll see! Honestly, I don’t see a clear winner. Just get what you think will be fun! Who gives a shit which is better. It’s not like you’re gonna be professionally racing 1/5scale truggies every weekend. These are bashers.
the only thing i know that does not make them even is the repair bill when you break stuff and everyone knows you will break stuff over and over if you are running them hard
@@superdogfrog I went with the xmaxx depends what you want bashing through a grass field on 8s I’ve yet to flip it I find it decently stable and very fun xrt will handle better but the xmaxx is just simple fun really.
Kraton for the win you have to do more upgrades to do to XRT and also they have a exb version that is a roller and put whatever electronics you want to suit your driving preferences. I do like the XRT and would still get one but if I could have only one it would be the kraton. But I want them both.
K8s exb for me is ultimate big basher/racer with enless options for powerplant, battery size, servo size, tire options. Not to mention it looks far more menacing
The XRT is great, but you are saying they are closely matched.....well that's good and all.....But the Kraton is old and the XRT is new....Don't you think the XRT should be the Clear winner....with all the R & D the XRT has had....hmmmmm.... seems to me the the XRT should of kicked the Kraton's butt...I have jumped my XRT pretty good and have only had a few things break or bend. But the ESC in the XRT only lasted 3 hard bash days. I think this is a win for the Kraton as it is old old!!! Maybe some real hard bashes with both of them will leak out the weakness of each one....Thanks for the great video!
When really had bashing I’d give it to the XRT just because of the Xmaxxes durability record over the Kraton. In this scenario on the track, I got what you see.
@@ExocagedRC As I don't disagree! I have beat on my XRT, and it has been pretty solid. But no real crashes or really bad ;landings, so time will tell. But XRT is a Great buggy!!!
Hi mate your using the same batteries I think you should use the same tyres that way they would have the same traction. Me personally I'm a arrma man all the way 🥰🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 another great video mate 👍🦘🤣🤣
Hi just watched your video it's alsome bro the traxxas XRT is the best way forward then the arrma kraton it has a lot more power and punch level I think then the arrma kraton we will see time will tell guys
This might be a conspiracy theory, but, are you receiving monetary compensation from traxxas to do these videos? A few of your videos shows that you drive the traxxas harder and will pretty much always clear the jumps with them. But when you drive the kraton your coming up short on the double, braking early in turns and not driving both trucks to the same standard. Just an observation I noticed in like 5 or 10 of your videos. Either way keep doing what your doing and get your money by all means! 👍🏼👍🏼
i wish i had such a track in my area. i am sometimes on a pump track (when its empty) with my traxxas rustler and not long ago a neighbour from that area came to me complaining about the noise. what a shit country im living in.
You should of used each manufacturer’s recommended battery’s since there designed for each vehicle and who the heck cares how clean one is vs the other. They all get filthy eventually
The kraton has more to offer me with its ability to go with any servo i want and driveline is way stronger on the k8s. The servo, gears and plastic of the xmaxx were trash and broke way to much for me. I truly love all rcs, but I always find my ARRMA rigs have done better for my money......
