Lio Convoy is a design that just works for me. I don’t know why I adore it, but I do. So I picked up the normal release, and I love him. I will say though, the addition of pupils on the lion eyes for Nemesis Lio are a huge improvement
Not just an appeal to the edge Lord colour scheme, but the more monochromatic colour scheme makes the kibble more palatable, as it visually sticks out less, due to blending in better with the robot parts. Still can’t defend that lion head though. They needed to sculpt him with at least a slight frown, or determined scowl.
Euuuuugh but GAVIN, he’s not a Nemesis Prime, he’s Copy Convoy-who kinda sorta started the whole “black and teal and evil clone of Optimus” shebang, but he’s TOTALLY different
Good review. Honestly I also skipped Leo Prime as honestly they just don’t do much for me (I’m more a Big Convoy/Ultra Mammoth gal) but I must say that the Nemesis color scheme really makes this mold shine. Looks freaking phenomenal and I think I may just get this so I can have at least one Leo Prime/Convoy.
I was surprised how much I liked the Leo Prime version. Been a bit lukewarm on the modern beasts but he had just enough little gimmicks and a quite cartoon like lion mode that he won me over in the end.

Its the one and only real lio convoy! Or atleast that's what he would say about himself. Copy Convoy is a complete giga-chad in his one and only appearance in BWII. No one h3 inspired all future evil prime clones!
The lion head reminds me of that one scary thing from that anime I can't remember the name of. Something about someone being turned into this horrible thing with long hair and blank eyes. UPDATE! I think it was Fullmetal Alchemist.
Outside the figures , I own to the ones that I'm waiting to be put back in stock and the ones , I skipped , Nemesis Leo went from skippable to I might pick him up if I spot him .
The eyes having pupils makes the face look a little better but it's still too goofy. Has convinced me to try and pick up the normal version and just paint the eyes.
Great review! I have not been sold on many of the Transformers Legends toys, but I havento agree, the black lion does look good. Also, you once again got my wife to laugh out loud with this review. You are fantastic!
I pretty much agree with you at the start and aswell I'm not familar with the anime. I "may" buy him if he become dirt cheap over time as he look cool as Nemesis black colour theme. Just that the kiddles and the arkward transformation I've seen on his reviews still put me off.
Ok I bought him days ago cos I think Toysmyths accident put the clearance £15 on him eventhought the website still say £29.99! I actually end up liking him! The head scuplt is so good and for now, the plastics on him is solid even for the fragile parts on him aren't weak! I actually like the monotone colours on him as it blends alot better in lion, not like seeing bits of red around the mane! It was tricky transforming the arms to fit under the head but once you understand it's to get the arms into the tabbing area, it's easier to pulled it off due to the multiply rotations on the joints! The only nikpick I got is while it's cool he comes with extra pistols but there are no 5mm ports on the lion mode to attach the gun onto! The only option is using the "evofusion" aka flip one of the side mane and stick it there with the two pistol attach but what if you don't want the ecofusion display?
he doesnt need one, yes he is a "nemesis" but in his episode, he wanted to replace the original, but still stayed loyal to the maximals/cybertron by refusing an alliance with the predacons/destron also his packaging maximal symbol is slashed and his tech specs depicts him as a "renegade maximal"
I was just thinking that the Transformers make everything out of metal, which is kind of like us making everything out of flesh. Imagine driving around in your little meat mobile? Kinda gross.
HAHAHAHA WHAT IS THAT FACE ON THE LION?? I much prefer the original deco, but that goofy face on the lion is REALLY tempting me to get this version instead
I genuinely hate this. Not the figure, the figure is great, but just how scummy Hasbro is. I have the Leo Prime, and I love him to bits. But this guy has more accessories which is annoying and the lion head looks better in lion mode. BUT the lion head is wrong in robot mode, which the original surprisingly got right. And it's not like I can just give the original the weapons because they're the wrong colour. Here's hoping that they release a Burning Convoy version that give him the correctly coloured stuff.
