Oooh that colour scheme of black, red and hints of that sort of brassy gold really is up there for me. Reminds me of Soundblaster and Dead end. Not quite among the likes of purple and black but still an all timer.
The moment I regretted not picking up either this fellow or Overlord was when someone at TFW2005 showed us you can actually swap halves between him and Siege Skythread with exceptedly hilarious results. But yeah, I get what you mean with feeling meh about Overlord. I would've been all over it had the toy come out during the late 2000s when I was obsessed with Japanese G1, but during the early-to-mid 2010s I was so much into IDW I couldn't help but wish TR Overlord was more like how the character had appeared in LSoTW.
Got this guy at the end of summer. Loads of fun. That popping sfx you used during transformation was the highlight of this video. Unexpected and totally satisfying.
I’d like to take a moment to say I use your voice in my head a lot. Whenever I think about some random topic it’s just a little Mr. Spence going “I’m really happy M4 was confirmed to have a body suit, for the longest time it was pretty ambiguous as to what she was even wearing.” I want every person to have your voice and sense of humour it’d make the world more bearable.
won this guy on an ebay auction a few months back and I've been over the moon ever since! such a fun and interesting figure with a very fun transformation. liked him so much I went hunting for an overlord
Gavin, I love your reviews. This channel is fantastic. Love your humor and the fact that you examine the toy in detail. This is a fun channel. Everyone should subscribe.
This guy definitely wears the mould better than Overlord but my dedication to that character makes me prefer it. I'd still get this guy if I could find him for abt £30 or so
I felt sky shadow was the superior toy of this shared mold. I just wish they sound a way to keep the chest storage compartments and he came with 2 head masters (maybe each the same but with different expressions?) just so I could set one in each vehicle mode cockpit.
I echo your sentiment that TR Overlord seemed rather insubstantial given his spectacular leap from obscurity. TR Sixshot and Sky Shadow were fine, but I decided to get MMC Carnifex for my Overlord purposes. Years later, it still has the rendition of Nick Roche's head design for Overlord with *The Lips*. That said, it's a miracle that Hasbro decided to make all three Phase Sixers at the expensive leader class.
Isn't Sky Shadow the obscure dude that died by the hands and beautiful singing voice of Tarn? In all seriousness though, I also wonder why there have only been 3 toys of this guy made. He looks so cool.
I own overlord, he’s still one of my favourite figures I currently own Wish I could get this guy too though, too bad he’s usually too expensive to afford
feel you on overlord, but the takara Version works a lot better somehow, plus I've customized mine. still interested in Skyshadow, maybe I'll pick him up someday. you're good at making me buy toys
Quite possibly the most underrated TR figure. Got him on sale from Amazon for like half off years ago and was taken by how much I liked it, doubly so once I got Overlord and realized that, good as Overlord is, I still like Sky Shadow better.
I really should pick this up someday. I have Overlord and Dai Atlas from this mold, but I already had the deluxe Sky Shadow from a few years earlier and decided one was enough. So of course it turns out it's a really good toy and I'm a fool for skipping it. Ah, some day.
I like using the Titan Returns Head of Sound Wave on overlord myself. I do wish they would of done a cheap blind bag series of just the Titan Master Heads so you can get a few without buying full figures everytime though.
I've got the Cybertron Sky Shadow which is nothing like this toy at all but is also grand, this guy looks really good, I love the gimmick of splitting into two vehicles it reminds me of my boy Tidal Wave. Definitely a guy I'll keep an eye out for
Something interesting about titan return was some of there toys start off as characters who take form of intentional transformers like the 3 transformers with the 3 decepticon triple changers made for the actual triple changers. Kinda a genius way to make money
how did they not do an energon megatron with this i mean just look at those two vehicles! even if this thing is from 2017 it would've made a way better shattered glass megatron over the one we got imo
I collect by character, and this dood is a bit of a no-mark, the best version of this mode came in the Big Powered set, which I really *really* need to rehome!
