For just a moment, I thought you were going to say Hasbro had repainted Earthrise Oppy into Thunderclash. In which case I would scream in base animal rage and throw money at them. Also, it's nice to have a short, sweet review of this guy with a good camera so I can see him in HD from all angles. I got Machine Wars Optimus at a flea market once. That's as close as I'm getting.
Got this big bastard for I wanna say my 6th birthday and instantly declared him to be Optimus Prime's boss, and as far as I'm concerned that's an indisputable fact. All the gold plastic is intact on mine, but I lost the damn back-flap that hides his head in truck mode.
Im so used to IDW Thunderclash that everytime I see a G1 toy review, Im waiting for the part where he combines with the trailer into a more impressive bot.
I'm saying what we're all thinking...When the f*** are we getting a modern Thunderclash? This guy is begging for a modern version. I need a white, gold, turquoise, hot pink and ferrari red truck-former in my life and its got to be Thunders!
Thunder Clash, Black Zarak, Skyquake and UW Motormaster are the figures that I wish that they were not breakable. Oh well, being sexy comes at a price, I guess.
PotP Orion/Optimus would be a good mold to bring back this lad. The truck would transform into Thunderclash and after combining him with the trailer we would get a Hyperdrive robot.
Say i got a question but would you ever review machine wars (G3) optimus prime? He's a repaint and new head mold of thunderclash Side note: he's from machine wars too (G3)
I don’t think I’ve ever seen the back end of Thunderclash if I’m honest. I’ve also never had any gold plastic figures, do they feel any different apart from the fragility?
I have G1 Pyro. He feels great, honestly. All his other plastic is splendid. It's just the knowledge that his waist and forearms are gold and could break at any time without warning. Gold plastic tends to be "Everything's fine here, boss!" until it suddenly isn't. Beast Wars Mutants Soundwave, on the other hand, I got about for transformations out of him before the jaw broke off. That was bad engineering though, as way too much pressure was put on it. G2 Electro is the worst. I got one in a box lot, attempted to transform it once to sell it, and naw. That was like trying to transform a shortbread cookie.
@@AlexReynard Yeah, I agree with that. The gold plastic figures feel absolutely normal until suddenly you notice they've dissolved into crumbs due to a passing breeze. RIP BW Neo Randy. You were too beautiful to transform more than twice, apparently.
This guy is maybe my holy grail figure. But lord, when I dug out all my figures recently two of them were showing the old gold plastic syndrome. Slingshot lost a tail, Beast Wars Grimlock has some cracked peg holes. Still, if I saw a Thunderclash in person and he was in one piece I'd grab it right away. Just sheer ostentatious glory that guy is. Would totally go for a modern figure of him too. It's time Hasbro got into bringing back the post G1 cartoon figures. I leapt on that G2 Megatron when they did that.
Have you been paying attention the last 3 years? The first wave of Legacy United coming up next year literally doesn't even have a single G1 character in it.
The sub-line is called the Turbomasters and their aesthetic is EXTREMELY G2, but they all have the G1 Autobot symbol on them. I think they might have been the last things to come out under Generation 1, and they weren't even properly released in America.
