The woman is a professional BTS hater and a SM stan who's all Big Bang and wants Kpop to remain a little niche market. She contradicts herself many time's, especially about Kpop and the use of English Oh and the racism is blatant as hell.

BTS didn't try to connect to the Western Market in the beginning (USA/UK), Their first experience with connecting in the West was when Billboard invited them to their Award Show because ARMY's voted for them and they qualified for an award. Then the AMA's invited them to perform their song DNA. It wasn't BTS trying, it was a fluke. ARMY's in the USA were just that big. And then everyone was surprised when they won Top Social Artist in 2017. Even BTS. Boracity did a really great video explaining it. I find it interesting how the host of the podcast points out three of their number 1 songs, saying it was the beginning of their 3 number 1 Hot 100 hits in the US, when he pointed out BUTTER, Permission To Dance, and My Universe. Those were actually not the "beginning" of their Hot 100 #1 Hits. Dynamite, Savage Love Remix, and Life Goes On, came before those songs in 2020, and they were the first three #1 Hits. I think he doesn't want to point them out, because the second two, Savage Love Remix, and Life Goes On, BTS added Korean Lyrics with Savage Love, and wrote the first successful Korean Language Hot 100 #1 Hit on Billboard with Live Goes On, which was a huge accomplishment for BTS. And they conveniently leave out the critically aclaimed album 'BE' released with Dynamite and Life Goes On on it. (Both Hot 100 #1 Hits), and the one right before that that was #1 album in the world in 2020 - Map of the Soul: 7. By the way, Dynamite, Butter, and My Universe were were all nominated for Grammy Awards. and Yet To Come on their album Proof was also nominated for a Grammy for the music video. NO OTHER KPOP ARTIST HAS EVER GOTTEN A GRAMMY NOMINATION. On HYBE, the Podcast folks were wrong in their thinking about HYBE. First of all, Big Hit Entertainment grew with BTS, so when they got so big they decided to expand, to separate the business section from the music production section, and they were doing more than just producing music, they were into games, social media, and other projects, and so they separated Big Hit Entertainment into the Business side "HYBE LABELS Corp." and the music production side, "BIG HIT MUSIC", which is BTS and TXT's Label. Then they expanded into Japan and the USA with home bases and HYBE acquired more labels to diversify, which is a very smart decision. HYBE doesn't control those labels, they all are run independently by their own staff. HYBE just supports and gives a framework of supporting artists and music. It's a brilliant framework, in my opinion. I love BTS because they are "Outside of the Box" and they are thoughtful, artistic, and genuine. I love them as people, and as artists. 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜#WithBTSForLife #APOBANGPO #TheBestIsYetToCome #BTSxARMY2025

I knew about kpop in like 2010 when I started listening to 2NE1 and Big Bang bc of a friend but it was in 2016 when I discovered BTS that i dived deeper into kpop (listening to hundreds of songs, getting to know so many idols) and yeah, even if some few do participate in writing their lyrics like Big Bang, I’ve always found BTS pretty unique and special. Through the years I found out that so many songs and groups are just similar to each other and lack idk something. BTS may grew up in the kpop environment and they trained like a kpop group but that's it, BTS never got the kpop industry support and they had to find their own ways to do things and success instead of following the regular kpop way and of course bc they wanted to be different and share their own messages. They literally paved the way and they made it! that's why they are more than kpop.

I think people need to understand with the “genre changes” bts has their are 7 members who love singing 7 different ways that’s why as BTS they do different stuff cause they all write and produce bts songs, and it’s magnified with their solo work. Also they change as they get older, they were young talked about youth and school , grew up talked about the struggles of life/ living yourself, Grew up talked about their past selves almost disbanding ect. They make music about their selves that alot of people are either growing up with and can relate, or are older and can relate cause they went through it already. It’s not just “ to expand” (which they do cause they are a band it’s smart) but if you really listen to the music that they write themselves it’s just them growing up and struggling through life. Also the people hate on butter , dynamite , ptd just are trig to finding something to hate if those are there “worst songs” than that’s a compliment. Also if they were from America and white people would be proud but since they are Koreans snd singing in Korean they want to keep them in a Korean bubble which is just gross. Jungkook album is a pop album of course there’s no korean 😭 bts is timeless because of how they make music, they aren’t a “niche” they are always evolving

To me, the fact that BTS is constantly "discussed" is proof that they are important and different from other artists in the industry. I mean all of them are in the military now but people still talk about them whether positively or negatively. If they are such a common artist, why talk about them, right?🤷 So yeah, I don't know why these people even try to downgrade them so much. I mean okay, if these people dislike them so much and want to criticize BTS, at least do some proper research. So far, I have never seen or heard or watched people who actually deep dive into BTS and genuinely wanted to discuss their journey and "flaws". from what I understand while istening to that podcast, they definitely wanted Big Bang got the spotlight instead of BTS and I understand it hurts when your favourite artists did not get that but yeah I agree with you guys, you cannot control that. BTS themselves did not expected to be this big so why did you cry like that? Overall I feel like these podcasters don't even know what exactly they want because they keep contradicting themselves but just want to downplay BTS. If Bts is such a common and non special artist, then where are the so called "greater than Bts kpop groups" now? This is the time for them to shine while BTS in the military but they still can't even beat a solo member of BTS.

Not just discussed but also studied 😂... But maybe, like what BoraMag said these so called "experts" already have these pre conceive notions, well let's be honest, that's what they always see in many kpop groups. Like they can already predict things cause it's always the same. Concept, style and sound. Their "Expertise" is being recognized. But when BTS came and broke their pre conceive notions, i think their so-called "expertise" are being threatened, being questioned. they are not an "Expert" anymore. She hates Hybe and BTS... like how can she praise other Kpop and congratulate them but then can't say a nice thing about BTS and other Hybe artists without being sarcastic and petty.

YES! also I remember a comment somewhere that said, "You know BTS did not expect themselves to be this famous now when you look at their digital footprints" BTS broke barriers and became what they are now because they are genuine people with genuine Art. They are real(normal )people who millions of people see as someone they can relate to

I always find hilarious these kpop journalist that always talk sht about BTS and clearly act like haters bc they are biased, many have their favs and that's okay but many look bitter bc "my favs should have what BTS have instead". I'm sorry but that's just life. Maybe they will have the opportunity in the future or maybe not but denying reality and literally history seems so crazy to me. And it's so funny to me seeing people criticizing BTS so much for a couple of English songs saying "they don't like that direction" while literally ignoring the hundreds of previous korean and japanese songs and the ones that they released in between and after. BTS experimenting with generes and concepts is nothing new, so yeah they are not doing that only for western validation.. maybe they think in that way bc kpop usually follows the trends without any own artistic direction. Get over the BTS English songs come on lmao. Remember everyone complaining about Butter bc it was pop and literally ignoring the whole BE album in between? 😂 Make no sense BTS became the biggest group in the world without any industry support and they did that coming from a small company while struggling financially, so if they are at the top is only because of their music, talent and artistry. 🤷‍♀

It's true though.. Most of Korean are not into Kpop, if kpop is a genre.. They like "normal music" That's why BTS never belong to kpop because of their normal music. That's why i like BTS and other korean musician out of kpop box.

BTS is unique. They make different genres of music, expressing their thoughts, feelings and their artistry. I love them because their music, dancing, MV, professionalism, love for art is enormous. They grew up without any help from the industry, radios, and so on. Love them. They deserve the sucess. 💜💜💜 I congratulate you two by the high level of your analysis and insight. I Subscribed and I am hoping for more content. Borahae.

She's telling lies yet again as BTS are very big in the South Korea and with a older auidence than the normal 10year old to 20 year old that are the norm with the rest of kpop. BTS have a much bigger South Korean following that kpop in general.

As BTS songs... Haters gonna hate players gonna play but at the End of the day BTS is the One who success because OF HIS MUSIC Army knows a lot of music in a lot of genders range I get into them because of hip hop and my knowledge in music has grown because of them and really enjoy new genders I never thought I Will... The problem is in music industry calling them as K-pop for not allowing them to compete against western artist for the trophies. When I read Latto with jungkook competing as kpop categories in billboards ir any august d, V, .... as Kpop... Ejem ejem jajaja

i remember when i first got into kpop a decade ago and thought kpop must be a huge part of korean culture, the people must love it. and then i saw more korean media, some street interviews and other korean youtubers who were all just kinda... "meh, we dont really care about it, its not really good." they differentiate between korean pop music and "kpop/ idol music". that says it all really. having observed kpop for so many years, its funny how its always the international fans who want to gatekeep their exotic source of entertainment, the korean fans never were so "anti-western" because theres not much korean about kpop to begin with, other than the language. but leave it to the english speaking fans to demand they must sing in korean. their favorite group will never achieve big things and those fans actually like that. as bora said, its not about the actual music, its about a fetishized hobby no longer being a secret, so you want to find something new to gatekeep. those type of fans dont genuinely like these kpop groups, and they sure as hell never truly liked bts before becoming an "ex-fan". they just got too big and no longer felt exotic enough. to be honest, the fandoms are often more entertaining than the groups; they'll always find a way to make threads about the most nonsensical thing, fight each other because their fav idols had the same hair color, make their 20th "unpopular opinion" video or have monthly re-awakenings of "omg this industry is actually toxic :0" its a great time when you view it as braindead entertainment and dont take anything serious. it will be an awful time tho when you realize they're indeed dead serious lol.

Thanks guys for your great reaction, as always. It is SO sad to hear all that nonsense on that podcast discussion. They have no clue about what they are saying... Though our boys will continue to struggle as they put out excellent music, because of haters & racists, they will overcome and move forward just like they have since the beginning. Unfortunately there will always be criticism but BTS are stellar artists, kind and humble human beings and THAT will always bring them to become bigger and brighter stars than they already are. 💜🙏💜🙏💜

Im an author. It's similar in the book world. We have "fans" like this, too--people who want the same book over and over with only name changes to differentiate the stories. Most authors who wish to write in different genres(which happens more than youd think) uses different pseudonyms because people love to pigeonhole peoples. Nora Roberts/JD Robb is an example. Some artists enjoy sticking to one thing. Others enjoy exploring various styles. Some painters also do sculpture. Some country singers do pop. And there is nothing wrong with that. I honestly think the woman is not a creative person and simply can't understand how it works. That said, the English songs(Butter, Dynamite etc) aren't my cup of tea but thats ok. I just listen to other songs instead. And bottom line? This whole opinion is based in racism. She wants to keep pop for the white kids of America. No Asian can do it because, in her opinion, they need to stick to "weird stuff". She mentions JB. He's Canadian. Why is she okay with him singing American pop? Why not be mad he isn't sticking to Canadian stuff? Because he looks like her.

When this New York times podcast dropped that was just mind boggling.... it did spark a lot of very interesting conversations tho around BTS, the American music industry, the fetishization of K-pop from a western perspective, artistic expression, and the ethnocentric view of music, the use of the English language etc.... Still very confused how this outlet let such misinformed takes on their platform...

Talking about BTS' music. What i really commend them, is that even before they debut they listen and learn different genres of music. Especially RM, he really took his time compiling different songs in different genres and distributed it to the members to listen to. To the point that, this method is now being used or was used by Hybe training staff to the 4th Gen (maybe the 5th) gen Kpop idols. I remember seeing Army tweeting that if they are not a fan they'll never believe that these seven men are in the Same group. 😂 Just look at their Solo albums/songs. Like brooooo it's like fruit salad 😂😂😂

The creature described as a "K-pop specialist," I'm not giving her the courtesy of calling her "lady," is just a biased stan on Twitter hatting 875 because they burst her bubble of being in an esoteric community where she can feel significant. BB was popular only in K-pop communities. It's absurd to compare them to 875 Impact, excluding their criminal scandals, only music-wise, they were made as a copy of the Seo Taiji & boys prototype - for me personally - an unsuccessful one. This repetitive narrative from K-pop stans is exhausting, and it's really annoying.

I truly got a stomachache hearing these people speak so negatively about bts and what made it worst is that there was no facts used or any effort in finding out real information. Then you had a big bang stan talking and hating on BTS smh it’s so gross hearing Americans speak on this bts subject which they truly know nothing about . For the record BTS is not just KPop or anything westernized they are their own beast! Separately grown from major labels! Apobangpo

Something that we often forget ,the word pop is an abreviation of the world POPULAR! K pop ular , US pop ular, UK pop ular , Australian pop ular etc types of music which people liked because they could associate and became popular! After the invation of radio and especially TV and MTV in our homes the popular became just pop! I don't remember Wham called UK pop! They were POP!( Maybe bcz they were english speaking !?) Nowdays with the use of internet and social media we have the rise of pop coming from other parts of the World(Africa, Asia) which has mostly the same sound as western pop ! In the case of S. Korea and BTS we see their music wining the western fans and becoming popular in other words Pop! When music is popular only in your country u can call it French pop , Italian pop Korean pop , Japanese pop etc but the instant this music goes out the boarder and becomes so immensely popular as BTS's music it stops to be K pop and becomes POP bcz it means that people from all over the world can associate with this music !! If western industry wants to make a profit out of this situation has to find a way to embrace BTS and their success bcz the door has opened and musicians from all over the world are gaining popularity even when their language is not English!💜💜💜💜
