I found treasure metal detecting around an old house built during the mid 1700's. I searched the dirt basement, around the lawn, and in the pasture. I found lots of old coins and relics including a HUGE piece of silver!

Thats one of those houses that I see and say to myself "If I won the lottery and money was no object, I'd rebuild/renovate from top to bottom and use as much reclaimed beams, etc - would be so sweet if done properly.

That's a life goal right there. I'd for sure want the exterior as close to the original as possible, but the inside would be top of the line.

Or a hairbrush handle. A BEAUT ! This style ran well into the 20's and should have markings along the seam. The one I found in three separate pieces, still had wooden bristle holder in the head. Careful when cleaning these are NOT strongly joined. Heaviest piece of silver I have dug so far.

That little piece of lead you found in the basement is part of what I believe to be an old shipping container seal. They used them much like on a power meter box on the outside of a house to ensure someone hasn't tampered with the contents

Global rider , that’s a load of hoo ha, I’ve seen other detectorists finding the Merry Widow condom tins and have not been demonised over the mention of it at all. This is just a sheer case of him finding the word ‘ condom ‘ abhorrent to him. By him making that statement it makes the word condom, a little dirty in his eyes. Like I originally said, he would’ve been better to delete the finding of it altogether from his video clip and no one would’ve been none the wiser.

Maybe some day we can give it another whirl. It appears to have been detected in the past too as the fields are rather quiet. We were there all day trying our best to find a colonial coin, but only some colonial buttons popped up. Didn't even put a dent in the trash pit however. Who knows what's down there. I was just happy to pull that silver piece out. Seems like the yard had fill dirt added sometime around the 1950's when the driveway was added. Thus the newer wheat pennies and WW2 relics.
@faffinabout323
@faffinabout323 6 лет назад
Great video! You definitely found a trash pit/bottle dump in that cellar hole. There’s a 1700’s abandoned colonial I go to often. I’m definitely going to persevere next time and see if I find any neat relics in that cellar hole.. or at the least some intact bottles.

Unforntunatly Metal detecting and digging Colonial, Fedral and Empire period Coins and artifact can be" nearly" impossible if you live in the Minneapolis, Minnesota metro area like I do.I've always wanted to detect and dig much older sites and farm fields in the eastern and southern Atlantic seaboard States like I see on your/ these great videos,and everything east of the Appalations ,BUT NOT ALL' is lost up here for me in the BoId North of Minnesota.I found my finds of a Life Time so far in 1994'95 and 1996 in the way of the Colonial, Fedral and Empire period artifacts kind and coins using my old USA made Bounty Hunter.Finding my first finds of silver washed pewter buttons/ all early American military with 13 stars,flat with soderd loop/circle shank in one small area along with round unfired lead musket balls and.grape shot all by chance during Improvements and new paths to Minnihaha falls Park a very OLD part of Minneapolis and. Ancient and sacred to the Native Americans,the falls of Minnehaha is a famous park and area which I so happened to live across from and 4 miles from Fort Snelling of 1820 and 2 miles from untouched Camp Cold Water of 1819 that was unseen and untouched in 1996 hidden behind fences and closed down opd Fedral building.This place is a natural spring that Coronal Snelling with a large military force of 500 + Men Officers there Wives childrenSkilled labour tools food goods spent the winter 1819 at Camp Cold Water that Minnesota in the 1890s built a beautiful memorial marking the spot were brave early Americans spent a winter outside in tents lean twos and stood against the British Army kept them from trying to control the Mississippi its Native psople and fur trade in a hostile dangerous wilder Ness all but forgotten and hidden away out of sight and off limits to none Fedral employment yup that's us lol.Well you guys get the idea that my house waz in between all this. Awesome history of the earliest Anglo near Colonial period presencel And the beautiful Indian Princess Hiawatha the one Longfellow wrote about, Minnehaha falls that year were a gold mine and Fort Snelling artifacts ECT by having a knowledge and love of history and Early Coins and artifacts believe it or not this Boy got a piece of New England Colonial plus bling rite here in Mpls outside my front door unbelievable

Than Banner 563 tag looks to be about the early to mid 1800's. I believe they where Slave tags back then, I googled it & didnt find the shape you have, they came in a diamond shape or a square with point at the top, That was more or less what I found on it except perhaps a reference to manufacturing tags. Who knows :)
