Being a blacksmith, I was drooling over some of the wrought iron I spied in the pile. You could sure make a fast friend if you provide a local blacksmith with wrought iron. Its getting really hard to come by these days.

What do you use it for? It's so rusted....And why is it hard to come by now a days?
@jamesmcmillen4828
@jamesmcmillen4828 4 года назад
@@luka5208 Real wrought iron is no longer produced because of the very expensive and labor intensive manufacturing process. Pieces of wrought iron can be fire-welded together by a blacksmith to create something new out of the old material. Yes it looks rusted and useless, but there is a lot of good material there.

Each of those items hold some kind of story that we will never know. That makes me wonder. What mundane items do we lay hands on everyday, never thinking that a hundred yrs from now, someone might find it and wonder about its “story”. We are that button’s, buckle, coin’s story. ..and they will be left to wonder.

On shorelines, things will 'pool' or arrange themselves according to their atomic weight. Things of a size- or material can be found together. And certain tides (w/ or w/o storm action) can pull away sand and silt , leaving the larger goodies hidden beneath.

Hi Muddy Angels! that was different! I think there was a re-cycling workshop there and they were maybe melting waste metal to make into new hardware for the nearby shipyard. The sand in the nuggets suggests they were probably using a sand-casting process rather than the 'lost-wax' technique and therefore, that they were mass producing hardware for the shipyard as sand-casting would be much quicker. The small coins reminded me of early Celtic coins, it's a pity you can't see any detail on them, usually 'stylised' horse images etc. Thank you for keeping me entertained as usual! Big hugs for you both, Louie Xx

Outstanding hunt! All your finds are so cool- fascinating! And those polished nuggets at the end... I'm right now wearing a nugget necklace, gold- and found by my great aunt in Alaska (C. 1900). Those that you have are quite worthy- and would have such a wonderful story to go along with! Congrats on such a fabulous day!

Oh my...that was just too much fun! What a lovely way to spend a quiet, rainy evening here in the Pacific Northwest...A dram of cognac while watching the lovely Scottish ladies swimming in coins. Great finds my dears.

27:00 that rock is indeed natural. In geology, breccia is a type of sedimentary rock where jagged fragments of rock are cemented together by minerals (usually silica) through precipitation.

Would it also be called pudding stone ? I see it a lot on our beaches
@nova0241
@nova0241 3 года назад
@@alisonlyons4691 It's very similar to pudding stone! However, real pudding stone consists of cemented rocks that are moderately/mostly smooth instead of jagged, and is classified as a conglomerate. Conglomerate/Breccia form from pretty much the same processes, but one has smooth stones and the other has jagged stones

Such an outstanding conclusion to your video. Thank you. I wish I could have gone scavenging as you do! But I will be 87 years in June! I find for me it's not as much about the objects you find that especially pleases me. It is more about your delight in your questing and discoveries.Thank you for sharing your excitement and enthusiasm!

Wow that looked like an amazing spot for metal finds! All those coins and intriguing bits of metal! Strangely in our second Portsmouth film we find lots of bits of metal too and we get as equally excited haha. That is the joy of looking for things you just never know what you are going to find!!! :)
