Watch as I treat my DIY garden room cladding with Osmo UV Protection Oil. This includes preparing the wooden cladding before application and how the oil is applied.
You can see the Osmo oil i purchased here on Amazon - amzn.to/3FDaJuo
You can also see the Osmo natural hair brush here - amzn.to/46FRKLL
I did quite a bit of research before purchasing Osmo oil, because it is expensive. However, the more research I did the more people I saw saying that despite the cost it was by far the best product for the job.
From what I understand the oil will need a re-coat in around 4-5 years, but until then, it will maintain the natural colour of the wood and avoid weathering and greying.

Watched all your videos on this project, really well described, and such a pleasure watching someone doing a really thorough job, while not scaring us ham fisted Wally's too much....👍👍👍

The oil definitely made the knots stand out but that extra character just makes for a more interesting appearence! 👍

I've used osmo for my garden office as well. Very happy with the end result. Will continue to use it in the up coming years. Yes expensive but worth it

Yeah its not cheap, but the finish is very nice. How long ago did you add it to your garden offic? and how is the finish holding up? Also what sort of cladding did you use?

Great video. I have to reapply some more osmo to mine after i did it for the first time a few years ago. I was wondering what grade sandpaper to use before adding new coats?

Hi, the finish looks amazing, can you please send me a link to the oil. Is it a clear matt finish you used? Also, can you use for any treated wood finish? Any advice would be appreciated, thanks

Looks great, good job. I'd be intrested to know what the full material cost was in the end. Is there anything you would have done differently now you have had time to think on it? Might be worth doing a little video on those subjects.

Hi Dean, Im in the process of creating a video of the entire project that will include pricing. If you want to know now, I actually wrote an article where I revealed the pricing yesterday. You can see it here: thediyfix.com/diy-garden-room-cost/

How did you find using British red cedar? I’ve accidentally ordered that meaning to order the Canadian that I had seen in the photos (didn’t know they were essentially different woods).
@Platformcamb0621

Also - any reason in particular you used the clear osmo oil rather than their specific cedar one? Cheers

Hi Johnny, Im very happy with the British cedar, it was significantly cheaper than the Canadian and that was my main reason for buying it. I might be wrong, but I think it is the same species, however the canadian trees grow much slower in a far colder environment, this gived them their darker colour and fewer knots. With regards to the clear oil. I just liked the look of the wood and didnt want to use a tint. Also, I assumed the the cedar coloured oil would be more specific to the darker canadian variety

Did you wipe any excess off after each coat? I've not bothered on my project but worried about it getting sticky. Any issues on yours?
@thediyfix
@thediyfix 3 месяца назад
No issues at all Peter, it just soaks in and then once the first coat is dry just add the second. Its a very clean finish

Hi Gavin, I am assuming you mean the whole garden room? I need to have a final tally up and work it out but around £7k. The oil for the cladding in this video was around £80
