Hi Lau, great video 👍👍 you missed your calling in life, you should have been a koi vet 👍👌 nicely done. If I get a problem with my koi, I'll give you a shout 👍👍 you take care and stay safe, Terry.
Very good point about the ends of the spawning brushes. I had an end come off 10 years ago, one of my fish cut herself close to her eye - a couple of mm different and she'd probably lost sight in her right eye. Koi can push really hard when they think some food might be hiding behind something !
I thought you had the ulcer all taken care of before but on tails with constant movement it can interrupt the healing process. Hopefully you've got it sorted this time around. I don't think even a vet could have done a better job of treating it than you did. Good tip on the brush ends as well. I have never even considered the possibility of the ends coming off. Cheers.
Thank you Ken. Well I have taken her out 4 times now in total. It was needed but it far more than I have ever taken all my fish out... I need to let her heal now. Time will do its thing as long as it doesn't become red anymore. So far so good. Thank you for the kind comment
Thank you Martyn. Yeah I wish the gel would wax up like candle wax and do its job under. It stays like thick paste but eventually goes. And I really made sure I dried properly and let it dry for 30 seconds after application.
Thank you Marek. That's very kind. Really pleased with it all, expect the ulcer of course. Been lucky with no parasite so far though, so pleased about that.
Thank you Graham. Yeah I hope she does. She looks better today so hopefully 4 treatment was needed. Thank you for the kind comment. Garden has been hard work.
We spoke a few weeks ago about the ulcer. Hopefully it will heal now, it might take some time as tails can get a few weeks/months to repair. A few treatments are generally necessary and it's not a big or nasty/infected ulcer so I am pretty sure she will be fine. You certainly have got the skills judging by how you are doing it.
Thank you Mimi for your kind comment and email the other day. Yeah I didn't expect it to go after a first treatment but didn't expect the redness to come back. Especially after cutting all the necrotic tissues. I have done another treatment since the video. That will be the fourth. Need to wait and see now.
You might find it easier handling a sedated Koi if you wrap it in a towel soaked in pond water, leaving just the area to be treated exposed, also helps keep them calmer, avoiding any accidents and injuries.
Thank you Cecil. I had a proper surgical one but I have used it on a road injured animals and left it at the rescue centre. Will need to buy another one.
@@DerbyKoi yeah I hope so Andy. I ve taken her out 4 times already which is far more than I would have liked to but I also need to giver her time to heal. Just making sure that it does get red for now. Tail are a funny thing to heal up.
I hope she heals OK you appear to be doing everything right I have my fingers crossed for her 🤞 your fish are looking really healthy though other than that 👍
Thanks Jamie. Yeah other than that, fish are doing great. No parasite this year so far and growing nicely. Will see. Luckily I think she had a good immune system
Yeah I did appreciate the tip from Karl. One of my end came odd on one of the brushed in my filter, it was proper sharp, it would seriously damage badly a fish with that.
@@LauMagroTheFrenchKOInection yer I had one pull off too ... you'd think they would be an s shape and molded into the end but they seem to just be screwed into a hole
It was kind of an easy decision I guess as I took on some decent little fish to grow and gained some experience with different varieties rather than keeping just Chagoi. So I knew they were not going to stay if that make sense. Hope you are going well
Wow that is amazing how it was coming then bam what the hell... That's crazy.. Good job.. Always a bit nerve racking putting them to sleep and working on them. She is a thick fish... Wow looks like she ate a watermelon.. not body shaming lol. Better numbers now that you have moved a few on
Yeah she has grown in the couple of months or so I have had her. She is carrying eggs which explains the belly. Hoping she will spawn but she s not showing signs. So hopefully in autumn and winter she will reabsorb the eggs.
Hi, yes totally healed thank you. Healed very quickly then had to clean it again. Now she has like a small mark, so she wouldnt make it to a show anymore but I am glad it didn't get any bigger.
