To strengthen the external rotation isn’t it by externally rotating it other than internally like you said.

Hi I have my ankle sprains almost 7 weeks now on both ankles. Have alot of tenderness, swelling and a little bruiced on my leg at first but not as bad now but still have some swelling on the atfl or aitlf I'm not sure wich legaments. Got mri done on both ankles 5 weeks ago and the first report says everything looks normal but had to request for another review and second said subcortical marrow edema around the feet and ankles but all legaments are intact. When through 3 doctors and they're going by the mri and says I just need to use my legs and feet and do physical therapy. What do you think? Should I get a another opionon, xray or ultrasound?
@MichaelBraccio
@MichaelBraccio 3 года назад
It is difficult to say. I don't receive images on every ankle sprain, but there were probably some that had subcortical edema after the injury. From the practice guidelines, movement and exercise is recommended once tolerated. So I'd consult with your physical therapist and see what they say.

Hello sir, I have heavy ankle sprain 8 month ago and suffering from pain on opposite side of a sprin.
@MichaelBraccio
@MichaelBraccio 3 года назад
Sorry to hear that. There's multiple things that could cause the pain to spread. Try to have it evaluated by a healthcare professional.

So if I have a giant bone spur on my heel that's causing me to rotate my ankle to the left so the foot is almost sideways when I walk could that cause this?
@MichaelBraccio
@MichaelBraccio 3 года назад
Could that cause a high sprain sprain? It might cause some compensation but the ankle ligaments are pretty strong, so they'd need some high forces to injury them.

Hey can i ask if there is other ways to recover with high ankle sprain? I have a partial achilles tear in the same leg with high ankle sprain
@MichaelBraccio
@MichaelBraccio 2 года назад
Hey there. These definitely aren't the only exercises that can help with a high ankle sprain. Sometimes you have to find the exercises that you feel comfortable doing (especially if you have another injury) and start building up from there.

I have mild (3/10) temporary pain/soreness when doing the bear crawl. Is that a good thing, or should I avoid that excercise until I'm more healed?
@MichaelBraccio
@MichaelBraccio 3 года назад
Could be either. The general recommendation for pain during exercise is less than 3/10 and stops after the exercise. But hard to say whether this particularly is a good or bad thing.

My ankle is strong but when I externally rotate it my lateral malleolus hurts a bit how do i increaae the range of motion when externally rotating so I don’t feel pain.
@MichaelBraccio
@MichaelBraccio Год назад
It is tough to say. Sometimes working in some different ranges of motion can be helpful to allow the ankle not to be painful. But sometimes reducing the load with the painful movement can also be helpful.

I been dealing with a high ankle sprain for 8 months now. I have 2 MRI and I have visited 3 doctor's and they can't find any problems. It's swollen and painful...
@MichaelBraccio
@MichaelBraccio 4 года назад
Hello! Sorry to hear about the ankle pain. It might be viewed as a good thing that the MRI doesn't reveal any structural issues in the ankle despite still being painful and swollen. I'd see if there was a physical therapist or chiropractor to take you through a thorough functional assessment to see if there's anything else contributing.

TheWir3d I am in my 6th month with high ankle sprain. The doctor said the healing time is 3-6 months or even longer depending on the grade plus tendon damage. It’s rough. Good luck to you for a full recovery.
@MichaelBraccio

@@michellevictor1041 unfortunately very true. the healing time is longer than an inversion ankle sprain which is the injury most compare it to.
