Definitely not a SAFETY FIRST VIDEO. Unless the point was to prove IDIOCY doesn't claim its victims as often as it should. Also wondering if they even have insurance seeing how many of the neighbors trees were damaged
Here in Australia the Government has been importing 100's of thousands of skilled labors into this country each year from up-and-coming nations. The most impressive skill was the attempt to slide a 70cm round log into a 60cm hole. 10 out of 10 for the great hand signals. Great enthusiasm when climbing into chipper to show the log where to go. I would have never thought of that. Normally these skilled workers would be employed to travel down our highways in control of 60 tone heavy vehicles, it's great to see they have other great skill sets. Rumors are, that the 3 are applying to become international pilots for Quantas, Quantas is always looking to improve its standards with skills from other up and coming nations.
These machines are not cheap I paint these machines in pella Iowa... makes me proud that you can use our machines and abuse them like this and they are going
This guys are dangerous workers. YOU DON'T GO UP TO THE MACHINE AND SHOVE THE TREE TRUNK TO GRINDER??? ONCE THE GRINDER CATCH YOU, YOU CAN FORGET THE DOCTOR. YOU WILL BE " REST IN PEICES .
Eucalyptus is the very worst firewood. It is oily and eucalyptus fires spit gobs of flaming eucalyptus oil out of your fire and into your house. A eucalyptus grove fire cannot be put out. A eucalyptus tree is a firebomb
What do we want? TO SHRED A TREE! How do we do it? VERY DANGEROUSLY! When do we talk? WHEN THE ENGINE IS RUNNING AT MAX RPM! Why are you shouting? BECAUSE WE NEVER WORE HEARING PROTECTION!!!
- all three standing under the crane's load - no hard hat while working under suspended loads (2/3) - walking under the load - no eye protection / face shield - no gloves while handling heavy material / rope - two crawling and standing in the hopper - passing a chainsaw to someone else while it's running - four hands on one chainsaw - pull starting a chainsaw in mid air - working in the pull-in zone while a tree is being chipped - putting a running chainsaw on the ground - distraction with smartphone in dangerous work environment (2/3) Safety rules are written in blood and red numbers. Nobody would come up with them and enforce them if that wasn't the case.
I love how much more trust, respect, and freedom they are given here. I miss those better times. The freedom given up for safety is not worth it at all.
Looks like they have no choices about having the required gear. I mean shredding a tree that size, no options are provided by the locals, the city? they can't leave it, don't have proper safety gear, doing the best they can?
@@BCGray10x Just pointing out some basic common sense learning items that can have positive effects on life expectancy. You may take them as recommendations and start your very own company with insurance rates on an all-time high.
NOT OSHA approved! I was waiting for them to lodge the log in the throat, drop it on a worker(s) or one of the cables getting snagged and pulled in, or one of the guys who jumped up on the chipper deck (NOT an erea designated for workers) to get sucked in as they scrambled to shut down 1800 lbs of razor sharp blades and cutting drum spinning at 16,000 rpm fed by hydraulic feed rollers which all takes several minutes to wind down. All in all, careless to say the least.
I see formal training isn't high up on the agenda of this company, extremely dangerous job. This was scary to watch. I stopped counting after the 10th infraction.
Sara Llewellyn The chipper that they are using can actually handle some pretty big stuff. We have one just like that but I have seen and you can fit a good 20 inch log in there. Course if you do that it does take longer to get back up to speed.
no chainsaw trousers, no ear or head protection standing in the back to the chipper whilst its running, you can see all of the health and safety officers fainting! the list of failing goes on and on
In some cases firewood is not even sold so it is necessary to dispose of the tree this way. We have a bunch of tree services around where I live, and the nearest sawmill is an hour and a half away. So if anybody wants firewood in the City here they would have to have it shipped. So in this case usually the tree services turn it all into mulch, and then they sell it to the city, or other third-party landscaping companies. I am not sure where this video was recorded, but I am sure that it is a similar case. Even though it gets blistery cold in North Carolina during the winter firewood is very hard to come bye. Of course the advantage for tree services is that they can charge their customers higher prices for tree work because that pretty much covers maintenance, and whatever mulch is left over that they don’t sell.
often times wood from residential areas cant be used for and wont be bought for lumber. reason, nails. folks drive nails into trees to hang bird feeders and stuff. one small nail can destroy a $3000 dollar bandsaw blade.
I don't think safety first would be the right word to use here they clearly are unprofessional and don't care about safety I work in the Logging business and literally almost getting your arm caught in the feed rollers is not safe and if your gonna run a saw at least think about wearing chaps if my boss saw one of his workers doing this he would fire them on the spot
holy shit how did they not burn up the chipper? this is what happens when you hire the cheapest possible labor. you end up creating more expense in the long run.
yeah let's buck a piece of the stem right in front of a log that's bouncing everywhere because the chipper isn't made for wood that big. Maybe if it knocks you in the head your brains might be working the correct way again.
Sadly these numbnuts are here in Australia, Universal Tree and Yard Services based in Sydney, we have very strong OH&S laws here, virtually every law is either disregarded or broken in this video. The name of the business is seen on the shirt at 16:16.
Чтобы было быстрее и легче переработать этот ствол дерева нужно было изначально распилить его вдоль! Потом когда дерево ещё стояло вертикально от корня нужно было ветки опилить! Тогда проблем меньше было бы!
I've always wondered why health and safety were so ott..... not only do they not work well together but they are constantly playing russian roulette with each other's lives.
What country is this I wondered ? India, Pakistan, Afghanistan ? If it wasn't for the "No Parking" sign I was damn sure it was third world..... So 1.6 million views. I reckon 1.5 million of them from Occupational and Health and Safety organisations around the world using as it as a "How not to..." training video !
Aw shucks, I was waiting for one of them duffises to dissappear into the blades & come out the upper chute as mincemeat.. Gee willakers, Missed it again.. LOL
No ppe, putting hands very close to the blades and standing on it. Absolute idiots if you touch those blades it will swallow you and crush you to pieces. Not only that but you nearly destroyed the thing. Amatures
@@notafuckinpplperson8233 an 18inch Vermeer can take a 21inch log max. These drum chippers are top of the range compared to the low end disc chippers like the bandits
I hate the sound of a chipper running full tilt endlessly and not chipping anything. Lost revenue in fuel, maintainance,, and engine hours. I wonder if they charged extra for the limbs they tore off the other tree trying to get it to the chipper? So much wrong with this operation from basic operation to ignorance of safety. I particularly enjoyed it when chimp 1 and chimp 2 wrestled back and forth against each other when trying to roll the chunk on the ground. Clown show
tree: WAIT JUST A MINUTE HOLY COW I'M IN THE AIR!!!!!!!!!!!! WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!! WAIT A MINUTE THESE MEN ARE GUIDING ME!!!!!!! IM BEING TIED TO SOMETHING!!!!!!! (sees the shredder ) DUN DUN DUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NO!!!!!!!!! NO!!!!! P.P.P.P.P.LEEEEEEEAAAAASSSEEEEEE!!!!!!! ANYTHING BUT THE SHREDDER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol 😆
Four guys and they weren't smart enough to back the chipper up neither of them had any crane signals these guys are inexperienced with good equipment that could be dangerous as hell
5 years now since this video was uploaded... I wonder how many of these guys has a life altering injury and how much property damage was done so far. 🤦♂️🤦🏽♂️🤦🏾♂️
Vermeer should pay these guys for testing how tuff there machines are holy shit ,slice dice a whole tree and a human and still be sharp enough to cut a tomato
I agree these guys are a long way from safety first. They look more like I want die tree service to me, if that was my property I shut them down u till they used the proper gear.
I love the widow makers they created in a tree they were not even working in. they obviously don't know how to slow down the feed rollers ( lets stuff a hole tree into a small chipper at full feed rate )
