Follow Magnus an I, building a treestand out of the willow tree´s. The roebuck season is coming, and it´s time to prepare and maybe build a new treestand. #DIY #traditionalbowhunting #tradlife
This video reminds me of the stand I built back in the early 80's. I built it out of small pine trees. I prefer walking when I hunt, but my new wife was just a beginner so I built her a stand. I put it up 2 weeks before the season started and the first day she hunted out of it, she killed her first deer. It was an 8 point buck. It was a nice size deer but the rack was nothing to really brag about, other than the fact it was her first deer. It began a long history of her bringing down deer...both out of a stand, and walking.
Cool video and great use of your surroundings. For me, I’d rather hear the sound of your instructions and Mother Nature than the music, but again, that’s just me. Thanks for sharing.
I really liked this video, Peter. Preparation for the hunt is a big part of hunting. It was especially interesting to watch you build your own treestand out of natural materials. In The United States we could call that a brace..I'm looking forward to seeing you take a deer from that stand.
Brilliant! Very well done tree-sit. Congrats and I hope you get a buck from it next season (and show it to us all in video ;) ) Thanks for sharing Peter.
Peter Juulsgaard your more then welcome to stay at ower place Peter , me and my 9 yr old daughter live in north Northumberland lovely countryside and it’s full of roe deer 🦌 , a hope one day it is here we can’t even hunt full stop with bows here crazy . Take care , Liam
I missed the video so good to see it now. I made a short ladder like that from hazel - it lasted more than 10 years but I wouldn't trust it at any height after 5, hazel gets very weak unless kept dry. But dead willow seems to stays very strong and more difficult to break so your stand may last longer than 2 years. Of course it will rot in the end, especially in mild wet winters when it never dries out. Regards from Scotland.
The fantastic about this particular stand is that it have actually set roots in the ground. So it May not rot in the ends towards the ground. I shot a buck from it this season too! Did you watch that video? ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-22k9j7xksL8.html
I just took it down this spring. It held up for 3 years. I shot a buck from it the first season it was there. Make sure to watch that hunt on my channel👍 thanks for watching
When talent makes this look easy 👏👏. Amazing job! I have the ladder but need to build the base (sitting area)...I like your idea, but raccoons would destroy it where I live.
@@peterjuulsgaard You're welcome! You have a great channel. Yes, you are fortunate for not having raccoons. They destroy our feeders too. Costly little creatures lol
Just a great example of using what you have to make something work! Look forward to seeing you shoot a nice buck from your "Tree, Tree" stand....haha. BTW does Magnus hunt?
Magnus is only 15 now, and they need to be 16 to hunt. And then they need a hunting license first. But I try to encourage him to be a hunter and bowhunter. Thanks for watching
He's 15? You better be good to him then because he is already as big as you are....hahaha. Have you ever heard of "saddle" hunting? It's a type of treestand that is very light weight and portable. Just wondering.
You might want to use some kind of safety harness in your stand. A friend of mine fell from a stand and was badly injured. I like your videos too much and want them to keep coming. Take care my friend.
This has nothing to do with this but when i was little and was at my grandmother's place i mentioned an old man not wearing a helmet when riding his bike. My grandmother responded: "well you're not supposed to fall off the bike". Of course everyone should chose safety first but sometimes we might get too comfortable relying on safety equipment. Hope you are all well during corona crisis and thank you Peter for the video.
