Always surprised at how much grease and oil people allow to build up on their drive train. It's pretty quick and easy to keep in a reasonable state between full services.

Ive been using WD 40 for all purpose but i think it was not meant for bikes lol theres a thick grease that build up on the chain and rear gear…

I look forward to these videos every Wednesday it’s now become part of my midweek Decompression/ Destress routine….. Seriously.😂 I’m already looking forward to next weeks Triathlon bike strip down. Great job you guys when I see how much care and attention you put into servicing the bikes I wouldn’t give a second thought on paying whatever you said it costs . Outstanding 👏🏽👏🏽.

It’s also my destress Wednesday evening thing. Simon edits these and often the first time I watch them is the same time as it’s published. I love our Wednesday evening sit down for the premier

I'm on the bike, every single day,365 days per year,no car... I have never ever neglected my bikes in the manner that I see here! And I rarely clean my bikes!! 🤣 That frame is beautiful,I would never neglect that Trek like that!🥺

I do a regular detail to the frame, wheels and components. But what helps most is several coats of Meguiars hybrid ceramic wax, dust and dirt and dead bugs just fall off after a ride. I definitely don’t let my cassette and derailleurs get to that point this bike got to, I can guarantee you that’s what snapped that derailleur hanger. Great video….hopefully riders see what regular cleaning and lube will do for a bike because I’ve ridden with people that don’t and you can hear it in the shifts and when they brake….they sound horrible.

It's amazing how many people over tighten the head bolts. I can totally understand why, no-one would want their bars coming off mid ride. But surely, that particular one would've been just as dangerous. Great job, as always 👍

Wonderful bit of restoration. Thank you for all that you do and explain to the cycling community. Although I appreciate the format with the sped up footage, is there anyway to slow it down like five percent? Just so we can see a little more of the intricacy with certain things? Again, thank you for the vids!

Wax is the way to go especially the price of oil 😂
@MJarthur95
@MJarthur95 2 года назад
That dirt was from “car motor oil”, I’ve seen people use it to lube their chains because it’s “cheaper” & you don’t have to grease it that often. PS it has the opposite effect 😅

I wonder if the unknown buildup is Squirt wax lube. That residue looks remarkably similar to the dirty, thick buildup I got when I used Squirt.
@biscuitdingus
@biscuitdingus 9 месяцев назад
I feel like they must’ve used a petroleum based protectant on their drivetrain. That residues qualities make me think of cosmoline, I highly doubt it’s that, but there’s a bunch of similar things that are rust preventatives which harden over time with exposure to air.
@DeanPattrick

Another bike lovingly bought back to showroom condition. The oil/lube on the rear cassette was really odd, I’m struggling to think what was used on it, as you said it wasn’t lubricating ?!? 🙌😎🇫🇮

Id love to see a complete guide on fixing V break ! I have trouble with mine, i tried to best i could but left side is too close to the rim and the right side is too far away….if i tight the break more then left side touch the rim but then the right side is close enought to the rim but not to close to touch it. If i loose the break more then left is still close to the rim and almost touching the rim but then the right side is now way too far and no longer break…

Those 8 watts sound unplausible. A clean chain is I think 98% efficient, so assuming 200w of input that's 4watts lost in total. 0.8 maybe? On another note: what bearings are in the jockey wheel?
@Bikespeeds
@Bikespeeds 2 года назад
This was on a sora they don’t have bearings. They are bushed.
@Jacksparrow4986
@Jacksparrow4986 2 года назад
@@Bikespeeds bushed to bearings is pretty big difference, ceramic bearings in particular. When you spin them the comparison is amazing, in real live I think I read about 0.4w less for the best bearings compared to steel bearings if I remember correctly.
