Your intro said you didn’t do endurance until now because other RU-vidrs were doing and they got it right. I think a bunch of us still like to hear your opinions regardless! Appreciate your content! Especially the laid back rally stuff where you just drive your favorite combos wink wink.

Good content Mike. Agree on the quirks. I am confident the AI will be tweaked for the next update. Personally, I am looking forward to the historic endurance dlc.

Great video Mike! Really immersed us into an endurance race, where you ponder the strategy of the other cars, not quite knowing where you really are in the running. Whether or not it was technically accurate, it all added up to a great race.

Sebring is the major missing track, after Sebring the track I'd like most is Croft, but it's unlikely.

Fantastic video & race, a pleasure to view. I'm new to AMS2, still feeling my way. Would love to know your car setup as I found the new DLC cars quite slidey although that might just be lack of skill on my part (mostly been on ACC).

Check your track settings Livetrack 3.0 increases grip on the racing line (and marbles off the racing line) as more cars drive on it. You can select presets on how rubbered in the track is prior to each session start, or have it naturally evolve through a weekend.

I think rFactor 2 still does a better job on this. Grid size is not limited to 32 cars and I can easily setup a 24 hours simulation with a racing time of 30 minutes at 48x time acceleration (or 1 hour with 24x). In AMS2 48x and 24x time acceleration is no option and you have to choose 25x or 50x to get closest to 24 hours simulation.

rFactor 2 is a also a major pain in the ass to work with, has terrible AI most of the time, has no native championship system, and *still* has an awful menu system.

@@Logan912 I never had any issues getting rF2 to work and have played it since the 1st beta. I recently bought a new system, installed the game from Steam and started playing without any issues. AI is not perfect, but that applies to AMS2 as well. Look at how AI in AMS2 is passing slower (blue flagged) cars. That is a real problem for endurance racing. Championship system I never use, but yes, AMS2 is better in that area. Menu system of rF2 is fine. I have more issues with AMS2, where it happens sometimes that after specifying the grid and starting the race, the number of cars is not what I have set it to. And why does AMS2 show 33 cars, when only 32 cars are on the grid? When I start a race in last position (32), AMS2 is showing that I am 32/33? I really like both games, but for endurance racing I still prefer rF2. But I hope LMU will become the new standard for endurance racing.

@@pcraenme set AI to 110% and Aggressiveness to "High", Reiza just pubished a fix for that so the AI anticipate more the pace of slow lapped cars and they are now changing lines before they get slowed down. Anyway, it's still the best AI overall sims and they make it even better on a regular basis which is great !

Riveting! AMS2 Endurance is the gift that keeps on giving. It's not perfect, but damn, does it do a lot right to get the feeling, get a good race, get some nice memories. I did a similar race in Pcars2 in VR some months back. 3 classes. Insane amount of fun. (and drama!) Now that Le Mans is "back"?! Looking forward to racing this winter

Due to Sprint Race Brasil being in AMS2 I thought Sebring and Homestead would be in since the series raced an international leg there, but actually the endurance packs might actually bring it to AMS2. Part of the equation is also because Sprint Race became NASCAR Brasil, so I don't know which entity holds the license of the overseas NASCAR series and if these will be put to use.

A couple of things that might help : regarding the timing : the Leaderboard works by check points so that the time difference updates when each car passes the same checkpoint, while the telemetry showing the cars ahead and behind is a live tracking. Now I think you can be faster, especially at Le Mans, if you wait for the RPMs to clip before shifting (passes red on the gear on your bottom right telemetry or goes to blue on your wheel) : that's the sweet spot to use your gear configuration. Of course, you can also adapt the gear range for every particular track (strongly recommended if you're doing a championship with tracks as different as Le Mans and a much slower track with lots of corners). You can easily check that by trying to do a hot lap session ;) Let me know if it gets better ;) Also make sure while turning, you are not too much off throttle. A few subtle inputs on the gas can make you gain up to one sec in each turn. ;) Hope it helps, let me know if it does :)

One big plus of me getting back into AMS2 and AC is I'm back to enjoying more SimRacing604 content. I wasn't paying as much attention for a while because I was only racing in iRacing. It's good to be back. I also need to thank you for putting me onto the RSS GT-M pack. I'm not usually a big GT3 guy either, but those cars really make it fun. I've also been impressed with how far AMS2 has come along. I drove the 963 for a while the other day, but IMO, the stock setup is terrible. I had to tweak it quite a bit to get it handling like I think it should (more like the iRacing version). I think that is one of the major issues with AMS2. I think the physics would feel better if they gave us better stock setups. Now I need to grab that VRS Pageau...

The defaults setups are definitely a big issue. Before I touch any car, I usually go in and soften some of the suspension settings a bit, fiddle with the preload and adjust the aero, after that everything drives a lot more to my liking. Of course that's just my approach. With a good setup the cars drive quite well and it's a lot of fun.

Just getting back into casual racing after 3 years. Just got a Cammus C5 and took advantage of Automobilista 2 Holiday Steam Sales of 50% to 70% Sales. I decided to try ThunderFlash Mods and the Project Cars 2 track Mods before I pay full price for Endurance Pack 1. I am getting greedy though. .. Lol.

This game still runs great on my 3 year old hp laptop, ryzen 4500, 16 ram and GTX1650! Apart from a full grid with stormy weather 🤣🚗🔥💖

What a great fun race to watch. It amazes me that you were able to race so hard, with such good pace without crashing or spinning and still be able give us decent commentary throughout the race. Well done on the on the somewhat cheap win (AI pitstops definitely need fixing) but great win still. By the way "sitting duck" is a British saying also.

These AI are demons on the brakes. At 117 skill and aggro on high, you have to be perfect to pass on the brakes. I find on acceleration, when using Qualifying mode for a gear to two you can pass them back.

The morning sunrise with the morning fog and sun rays just look incredible in this game. I thought GT7 had great day night transitions but AMS2 is next level. I admire your patience in this race. I would have stacked ages ago lol. Thanks again for the great video

One other thing that this sim really needs is better replay cameras and controls, especially for VR. It's awful. I can basically use onboard/follow views or near the pit lane. I think we could get some awesome footage with the weather effects.

The per lap allotment was a mistake and was removed with a hotfix. The thing that hasn't been implemented is stint length energy allotment, but hopefully that gets added in the near future.

I hope to try it. I don’t know any more than you, but I think it could be a great mid-tier option for sim racers. Frankly, I think more companies should follow suit. I hope more sim hardware manufacturers offer an “all-in-one” solution with a direct drive wheelbase, load cell brake pedal set, dash, and button box.

@@SimRacing604 I'm going to go simagic for that exact reason : the ecosystem is great : Alpha base (alpha mini looks great too if on a budget), P2000 to have a touch of hydraulic breaks (I think P1000 also can be added a hydraulic kit now, so it may be worth a look) and Formula Extreme pro FX Pro Wheel. In terms of wheels, Have a look also at the Leonxz XF1. I hear great things about it :)

Almost all sim racing games have missed the strategic element of endurance racing, which is ENDURANCE in real time. Factoring in pit stops, fuel consumption, brake pad replacement and mechanical wear need a mid-session save function so we can SIMULATE the 24hrs @ Le Mans, or the Bathurst 1000. ACC does it well. It's my understanding that the Automobilista 2's game engine prevents adding a mid-session save function. Shame. But, this new pack as well as other recent improvements are making this sim fun to play.

I feel you, especially there could be a save function in between race 1 and race 2 when activated, although one could say there is no save function in real life ^^ But to be honest, pit strategies matter, there is no brake replacement available, but it's the only thing missing. One way to "have a break" without pausing is to let AI do a couple of laps after pitting (change driver "on" on the screen when calling a pit stop). It's not ideal, but using it may sometimes help ;)

I don’t think you missed anything. They are automatically triggered. If your game is updated to the most recent version and the problem persists, I would suggest reporting it as a bug on the forums.

Good video Mike, I agree the AI needs some work, every race I’ve done has had AI pitting on the final couple of laps. By contrast I did a Le Mans race in AC using the VRS Prototypes and RSS GT-M cars and using the RARE app to set AI fuel levels and tire wear / pit range. Absolutely amazing racing, the latest CSP and Pure look better than AMS2 and AC drives and sounds better. As a bonus I was also able to watch a replay and jump to anywhere on the timeline with a click rather than fast forwarding for ages.

Most discord servers about simracing are full of people that take it way to seriously.
