I would like to know the object of the game, but as usual Mike goes above and beyond the technology at the time. I just wish songs of distant earth had the same. It’s beautiful. Oh gosh I’m going to start crying lol. Oh and thanks to the channel for uploading x
I suppose finding these rings is the object of the game. But you can do other things too. Songs of the distant earth has i think similar game. Altough, you can't really call it a game. More like an interactive video.
When I first got this game in with the original Tres Lunas album, I couldn't get it to run properly on my computer. I no longer have a Windows computer; only Linux. Maybe I should try to get it running on the more modern computer. I only got to hear the music on the bootleg Tres Lunas II album, with the exception of the tracks showcased on Mike's original disc.
Looks like a very cool concept, hindered horribly by the technology of the time. Had Mike had the idea to do this 10-15 years later or so, the result would've been fantastic. I wonder what engine is used here; looks and feels similar to early LithTech (which is not good at all).
I actually think that this has aged well. I like the early 2000s style. You may find information about the engine from the forums (which are also early 00s).
@@vetehinen8097 Considering the game won't even start on my PC (and I do like and have played numerous games from that era), I must disagree with you :) Might and Magic 9 looks graphically quite similar to this, came out a bit earlier, and was considered outdated already at the time of it's release.
It’s obviously more subjective than you let on. Mike and his team had a style in mind that (to me at least) looks quite hip given the many contemporary genres of visual art and music that take influence from these aesthetics. I think the same concept could’ve been released in 2014 by a vaporwave or PC Music artist to great acclaim.
I think it might only run from a CD Rom and even then probably only from the official release that comes as part of the package as sold in retail stores etc. Something to do with copyright no doubt.
