Okay PEOPLE 😅 she didn't put the vaseline all over her face she used it as a buffer at the corner of her eyes, nose, and mouth, when you first got your prescription from your doctor didn't he / she tell you to avoid putting at the corner of your eyes nose and mouth or around the mouth/ lips , if not they should've or you can do this also you can use the vaseline or any petroleum products and for people who can't use or don't like petroleum products use can use a balm like La Roche posay cicaplast Baume B5 , as a buffer some people use it as a buffer around their eyes then the go in with a small amount of Tretinoin .. also you can use your moisturizer before or after your Tretinoin or you can just use your Tretinoin by itself if your skin can tolerate it .. there is no hard and fast rule.. u can also switch up your routine.. it doesn't have to be the same every time. .
When I started with Retin-A, I was told to either mix it with my moisturizer or use the moisturizer after, which didn't help my sensitive skin, at all.
Valesine is a petroleum product Tell me why you would put that anywhere on your skin especially close to sensitive areas Makes Zero Sense because its toxic
After I apply my tretinoin, I like to wait half an hour or so, then apply Cosrx snail essense mixed with some centella extract. This combination is especially soothing to my skin. When my skin was adapting to tretinoin, some moisturizers really burned after applying, but the snail extract was much easier on my skin.
@@alainaclement1252 Other good additives for the snail essense are great tea and rosemary. I will try licorice extract try in the future. It is known for reducing hyperpigmentation.
Thank you Dr. Dray! This is exactly my nighttime routine except for: 1) I use Clinique Take the Day Off Cleansing Balm instead of the oil. I just purchased the oil to try it. 2) I use La Roche Posay Toleriane Purifying Foaming Facial Wash. 3) I use the Tretinoin before the moisturizer, perhaps I should try the way you do it.
I use jojoba oil instead of moisturizer because I found that it helps my skin the most, it's very calming to my red skin and doesn't cause any pimples or inflammation which all the moisturizes I have tried did. And im talking mostly about the cerave and the ordinary ones 😅 I don't know why they are bad for me and good for so many people
@@peablaze yea. I apply the jojoba oil on wet skin after I wash my face or shower and then let it absorb for like 10 or 20 minutes and then use the tretinoin. I just started this method for a few weeks tho so I can't say if it still works 100% but so far my skin is good and better than before. I use the oil in the morning too, before my mineral sunscreen because it helps to spread better and won't dry my skin like when I use it without oil
@@houske1261 well, since your skin is better than it was when using moisturizer then I guess it's working... Can't seem to find any moisturizer that works for me.
😂 I use that much Tretinoin Cream just on my Forehead lol😂 that's NOT enough for ME anyway! But I have been using it for many Year's, so My skin can handle it. I also don't use Vaseline or moisturizer before I put it on. I put it on then I use a heavy moisturizer. Then I use vaseline on my face for slugging.
Dr Dray, Great video, but the descriptions you provided describing each step are layered (hidden) under your channel name and the video description. Can you slide the descriptions up a bit so that we can read them? (That would then answer many of the questions people are asking.)
@@DrDrayzday On a moble, or a laptap? (They usually display/present differently. All 3 of my various brands of cell phone have the descriptions covered.)

I promise you’re not the only one. You know it’s not just getting up to do it after you doze off, it’s the ‘dribble ‘ of the water drops coming off the cloth or hands, it’s rude when you’re sleepy!😂😂😂 and you’re gonna be fully awake after that.😮thanks for your honesty.
Tretinoin is a topical medication that is commonly prescribed for the treatment of acne. It works by increasing cell turnover and preventing the formation of new acne lesions. Tretinoin is often used in combination with other acne medications, such as benzoyl peroxide or antibiotics, to achieve the best results. Tretinoin can be effective for treating both mild and moderate acne, and it may also help to reduce the appearance of existing acne scars. However, it is important to note that tretinoin can cause skin irritation and sensitivity, so it should be used under the guidance of a healthcare professional.
I’m watching this while trying to heal the corner of my lip from tretoin sensitivity, and it’s my 2nd time! Definitely going for the Vaseline option from now on.
I was just prescribed that Tretonin and after using it a few times it gave me more wrinkles and lines than ever along with the redness and soreness. I stopped using it because of the side effects and i went back to my regular prescription and that has no bad effects and it made me look 30 years younger. These new prescriptions like tretonin are not aways better than the older prescriptions
@@debraferguson9992 Retin A /Tretinoin is not new! It has been around for ages. Your skin has to adjust to Tretinoin meaning you might go through some redness, burning and peeling. And you only use a pea sized amount once or twice per week to start or watch out!
@@debraferguson9992glad you found what works for your skin. I have the same issues with tretinoin..it's simply too harsh for my skin (even when using a pea size amount and a pre moisturizer about an hour before tretinoin application so that it completely dries). May I ask what prescription you're using instead of tretinoin?
@@debraferguson9992 those are temporary wrinkles and lines from the dryness but you gotta trust the process. Going straight into tretonin is too harsh if you're a new retinol user. I started with differin 0.15% (1~ year) --> dirrerin 0.3% (2~ years) --> and finally tretonin 0.05%. (1~2 years now) I don't peel as much anymore. I am going to get tretonin 0.1% soon
Oh my gosh I wish I could see a Dermatologist to get Tretinoin! Being Military (USN-Ret) forget it! Just seeing a Doctor eveb after having cancer twice, a stroke AND heart failure is next to impossible! The average wait to get meds is 7 hours! HOURS! My last time was 6 Hours 48 mins! I want those 27 years I gave to the Navy and this country BACK! I just want a tube of this stuff lol
I got a prescription online at Nurx! You upload photos of your skin, fill out a questionnaire, and can message with a dermatologist with any questions. You also upload your insurance, if you have any and they’ll mail your prescription by mail!
@@SueRosalie I’m in the military medical system. The local hospital is down to 1 MD. One. For approximately 57,000 people who are eligible to go there, ONE MD. And… She’s leaving soon for Maternity Leave! She replaced a Doctor who finally broke. He quit the Navy, He Quit medicine. My last appointment with him, he never made eye contact! It lasted 11 mins. He was struggling putting in my prescriptions. This new one I met the other day. She wanted to change all my meds 🤦♀️ Reinvent the wheel. Ugh. When we ask for something like Tretinoin, which I have and he said “what for?” “My face” I replied. He says “you don’t put steroids on your face” 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤷🏼♀️ I thought if I argued with him that it’s not a steroid (I’m a retired licensed Esthetician lol) he would start crying he was so stressed out. This new Dr, was so busy telling me she was confused by my BP meds… (I did contemplate asking for it) I gave up! 26 years in the Navy and this is the level of care we get. But thank you. In a normal world I would
This short video was really helpful in making me realize why I have been using Retin-A for a year now and my skin hasn’t gotten better.. I was using *way* too much and it was actually destroying my skin barrier. I’m taking 2-3 weeks to use a basic skincare routine (gentle cleanser, moisturizer & SPF) until my barrier is in tact, then I will start off slower and use less when I get back to my tret. Thank you Dr. Day for giving us this priceless knowledge that people past hundreds if not thousands of dollars to learn in an office. We appreciate everything you do for us! ❤ 🧴
I just started a new product line ..All natural. The night routine has 11 different products that you have to use….grrr. I much rather have simplified version like yours. I’m finding I don’t really have the patience to do all of it but I will now that I bought it.
Hi Dr. Dray, I was wondering if you ever worry about the Retinol going in your mouth if it is around your lips? I place it above my lip as well but wasn't sure it was safe.
I dunno why but the cerave face moisturizer with spf I have accese to is only spf 25 last time I checked. And it's a weeny 52ml. I bought it though. Hopefully it works well for me.
That's great to know that we can put petrolatum on our eyelids! I'm going to try that. I love putting Vaseline on my lips at night. Makes them super soft and it is way less expensive (and more comfortable) than La Neige.
How long after cleansing do you apply moisturiser and how long after moisturer are you applying tretinoin? As it looks like you aren’t waiting any time to apply??
Presque la même routine Je mets la tretinoin après que l’eau florale de menthe poivrée sèche complètement 3 fois la semaine sans crème hydratante ; c’est plutôt le matin que je nourris en profondeur avec l’huile de noisette 😊
You can do it both ways. Putting moisturizer first will decrease irritation from tretinoin but if you have have no issues with putting tretinoin first then theres nothing wrong with using it before moisturizer.
If you have Rosacea, and/or if you do not wear makeup or have a buildup of water-resistant sunscreen to remove, double cleansing can be very destructive to your skin barrier.
My skin actually feels less stripped doing a double cleanse with cleansing oil and a gentle cream cleanser. You don't have to work as hard to get everything off of your face. I have rosacea and my skin is on the dry side. Sunscreen is a must for me. UV is a major trigger for a lot of people with rosacea.
Dr.Dray, Great content..as a beginner, after applying moisturizer to the whole face and vaseline to delicate areas can i apply tret on top of vaseline or just dont even take tret near to those areas..? Forever..??
Can someone please tell me where online is a good trustworthy place to get tret, I live in the UK where it is not available and I'm trying to get rid of scarring :(
Dr Dray, Ive been using Tret (0.5) for about 11 weeks now and very successfully too. However, in the last week, I've been feeling very dizzy when I wake up in the mornings. Could the tret be causing this and have you ever heard of this happening before? Happy Christmas to you.
Dray, question, do you apply tret to your neck? I feel like I’m always seeing influencers and even some derms do these types of videos and they never apply to their neck. Did I miss a memo?? Should I not be doing that?
Dr. Dray I know this is a super late question to this post but can healing ointment/vasesline be applied after you apply your tretinoin also? Thank you 🥰
Question on tretinoin. Is there a huge difference between using a prescription from a pharmacy vs using one from Agency? I know that the future formula has added ingredients but the cost is so much higher than a tube from my local pharmacy (using GoodRx). I use Agency right now but thinking of switching. Thn in advance for your advise.
The cream you use PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion - 3 fl oz - up & up™ is there a version you know that is also just as great of a match that I can buy from EU? The ingredients are perfect but I can not buy 😢
Its the knock off version of Cerave's nighttime lotion. The one dr.dray has is Targets version of that. You might have better luck finding the Cerave one if you dont have a target where youre from
Dear Dr Dray is it possible to get vitamin A overdosis from 0.05% Tretinoin, my endocrinologist is not happy about me usingit, but I dont want to stop it as otherwise my wrinkles come back. I reduced it to every 3rd day now. Thank you.
