For me, easing into it 1x a week for a month and then 2x a week for a month and then 3x a week for a month was very helpful. I also followed your suggestion of putting CeraVe on first before applying it. I've been on it for about 5-6 months, and, yes, my skin is still more sensitive in some situations.

I started tretinoin 0.05%last year 2023 and I didn’t get the dreaded purge stages but just a few dry patches here and there. My skin is smooth and glass-like and not a wrinkle in sight. People think I’m in my 20s but I’m actually 40 lol. However, now in my second year I’ve now graduated to 0.1%. Tretinoin and I are besties forever ❤

@@DragonicCherry I’m curious too. (RU-vid needs to do something about when we reply to the original person who wrote the comment, it doesn’t highlight their name but highlights everyone else’s on the thread, like yours at the beginning of my comment, @dragonicCherry. Hope I’m making sense.) Anyway, my doctor has written out a prescription for Retin A, strength 0.01% but it has been discontinued here in Australia. The pharmacist has Tretinoin which is under the name of Retrieve and the lowest strength is 0.05% I’ve never used Tretinoin before so really don’t know what to expect. Do you or anyone else reading this think that the strength 0.05% would be too strong? I’m 66, fair skinned and was lucky that I didn’t start getting any wrinkles until about four or five years ago and then wham, they all came at once 😂. So with me having fair skin, would Tretinoin irritate my skin more than someone with olive skin? Also, anyone reading this, is how long before the results start showing? I would love to hear some stories from people who have been using it.

For the past several years I have been using Retin A Micro Gel in a pump 0.1% I order it from a pharmacy in Canada, I fax them my prescription. @@Sandy-o4l Start off a few times a week, and slowly build up to everyday. Sometimes everyday is too much, so you can do it every other day as well. I no longer use it everyday though, I usually shoot for 3-4 times a week. Also, if you're just starting, I recommend putting the tret on top of your moisturizer, you'll get less irritation that way. Once you get used to it you can put the tret on first, but beware that it can be more irritating to your skin that way.

Since September, I’ve tried bumping up to the .1%. There’s so many that have this “Go big, or go home!” attitude about tretinoin/Retin A and I never could find the info I needed on whether the .05% was going to do what I wanted in the long run. Well… I’ve tried several times now to use the .1%. My skin just can not tolerate it. I take the weekend off from tretinoin so I tried the .1% on a Monday night after my skin has had a break. Nope. Didn’t work. Tried on a Friday night … that turned into me not being able to use tret for almost a week! So now, you’ve helped me. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. I’m sticking with the .05%. I think some people suggest to switch retinoid acid with other less irritating anti aging product in the summer because retinoid acid makes your face sensitive with the sun. By using less retinoid acid in the summer, you could prevent your face skin from burning or getting red

I want to say thank you for recommending Retin A ❤❤❤ I suffer from acne and I'm on my 7th month of the lowest strength. I started with the gel version, but it had alcohol, it stings when you apply it. I feel like cream is the way to go even for acne. My results are: 1. Reduction of pores 2. scars have minimized 3. Redness minimized 4. Reduction of milia. I didn't know Tetrinoin works for milia bumps too, but it helped me out 😃 When I run my fingers through the bumps, my skin feels more smooth and the bumps are less noticeable.

Cleanser question: I know you're supposed to avoid touching your face to prevent contracting a virus, but even with good hygiene, germs will inevitably end up on the face. So would you recommend cleansing the face for 20 seconds (per CDC recommendation for handwashing) & also, are facial cleansers (such as non-foaming) as effective as hand soap for killing germs? I’ve just started - I would have preferred a cream but they all seem to have parabens in them, which I’m allergic to, so gel it is 😌. Thank you for all of the work you do for us.

I started my tretinoin 0.025% today. I only want to do this once a week and see what happens to my skin. I have clear skin to begin with but my face is sensitive. So I followed the instruction to put moisturizer first before tretinoin. By the way I am using the gel type but I also purchased the cream type. My skin is dry and sensitive. I'm starting to see fine lines in my forehead but not that visible yet.

She mentioned it in other video (cant remember which one it was) that once youve been on retin a for a while you dont have to use it everyday for maintenance. So someone whos been on retin a for at least 2 years can just use it up to 3 times a week and will maintain same results.

@@kjohnsonshelton0923 hi Kim. My dermatologist first prescribed the basic tretinoin cream at .025% which I get at CVS with a coupon for about $70. It lasts for several months, 3-4 months I would say. After 3 months, she upped it to the next strength, which is .05%. Let me check the website I use for the discount coupon, just a sec.

@@kjohnsonshelton0923 I use GoodRx, 0.05%, 20 mg to and because I'm using Walgreens it's about 30 to $32 but if I selected one of the other drug stores , it would be less than that in the US. It does last quite a long while. When I'm ready to purchase again , I will check GoodRx at that time to see if I can get it for an even lower price, if not, the coupon used before is still on file and can be used over and over again.

@@DrDrayzday hello ,I use tretonoin every night and i suffer from night sweats every night from my anti depressant medication...My question is i tend to get a lot of peeling and even though i apply tretonoin to dry moisturized skin i wake up during the night and in the morning with wet, greasy facial skin which leads me to believe this may be why I'm peeling ?I have tried using less, mixing it with moisturizer ect but I still continue to peel...As long as i apply it to dry skin does it matter then if my skin gets wet later on in the night ? I would really appreciate your opinion Andrea...🙂
