@@MJC7283 Honestly, the biggest way they can attract more fans to the sport itself is simple. Let the fans & players help spread the content that's produced. Look at the NBA & NFL. A lot of content from them is shared on social media whether it's Curry making a very ridiculous 3, Kyrie breaking ankles, An awesome td celebration, or something like the players singing/rapping to a song that's being played in the stadium while a game is going on. The MLB only restricts their content to be released by either themselves or other big sport medias. If the MLB was less strict with the content that's spreaded out and gives players to express themselves, they'll gain more attention than what they're doing rn. Manfred ain't the guy to do so and this will continue on until the game itself can't be recognized as baseball anymore due to Manfred's antics.

I feel ya there. I live in the St. Louis Area and the 2 biggest TV providers are Dish and DirecTV. Dish doesn't carry Fox Sports Midwest anymore. That deal actually ended in the middle of the season. I'm in a few Cardinals fan groups on Facebook and of I had a Dollar for everytime someone bitched about the Dish deal and blackouts and whatnot, I could have retired when I was 10 years old. This dude gets it. This commissioner is utter fucking trash. All he cares about is funneling money into the game and trying to screw with the integrity of this great sport. The pitch clocks were a damn atrocity to the sport. Up until then, MLB was the ONLY sport of the Big 4 that didn't use a clock. And that only shaved maybe an average of 3 minutes off of the game. Wanna get the next generation into the sport? Take your children to as many games as you can and in between spend some time to educate them on the history. That's what I do with my 10 year old son and the biggest bummer for him is when we have to leave the stadium when the game is over because he wants more

Fay Vincent was the last commissioner in all sports who genuinely looked out for the sport’s best interest, not the owners’. And when he failed to hide and/or deny the mid-late ‘80’s collusion the owners removed him with a no confidence vote. That put all current and future commissioners on notice to not bite the hand that feeds them.

His name was Fay Vincent. His replacement is in the HOF

Richard Looby I got his name right. And yeah, the same guy who led the witch hunt to remove Vincent ended up replacing him and is in the hall of fame. The same guy who, along with jerry Reinsdorf, led the collusion in the ‘80’s which resulted in the owners to make a $280 million payment to the players. My point was Vincent was the last commissioner of any sport to NOT be a stooge for the owners. You can’t possibly be making the argument that Bud Selig WASN’T a stooge for the owners, right? He WAS one of them!

I would argue that being a stooge for the owners is not all bad. David Stern took a sports league that was almost broke in turned it into one of the most popular leagues in the world. About the only league more popular around the globe than the NBA is the Premier League. And frankly, Roger Goodell is a worse commissioner.

Bottom line is, if you like the sport, you'll watch it. I dont like soccer. Its not about the length of it, or the low scoring, or anything like that. I just dont like it. Its boring. They could make it 20 minutes, they could shrink the size of the field, they could expand the size of the net, they could do whatever to "improve" the product. But nothing they do would make me watch it. And making a baseball game 2 hours instead of 3, isnt going to make many more people watch it either. Biggest problem with getting people interested is there are so many more entertainment options now than there were even 20 years ago. The 12-18 year old kids that might've watched an entire baseball game back then, are now playing videogames during that time. There's nothing that can be done about that.

Agreed. The problem isn't the length of the game. The problem is the lack of enjoyment of the game. Like you say, if you love the game you can never get enough of it. Spectators today don't love the game. I think a way to get people interested in the game is to educate them about the nuances of baseball; the game inside the game. In a 3 hour game there is less than 10 minutes of 'action', but there is over 2 hours of strategy. The fans that stay engaged love it all.

I'm a newer baseball fan and i love the length. Love it. It's an art from start to finish, an experience like no other sport. Teach people about Baseball and they will love it too.

NFL teams can run around probably 10 plays to in 3 minutes, depending on their tempo, as opposed to baseballs 10 pitches in 5 minutes. I would be guessing. @D T In Los Angeles, the cable company is now Charter, BUT Charter is not city wide, only in small areas of the city. MLB has a local blackout, so the majority of Los Angeles City resident cannot see the Dodgers, unless they have an illegal hookup. It's crazy.
