Trevor Bauer Pitching Mechanics Breakdown 

Just looking at how many problems you had and you still threw 92 is inspiring. It also shows how far I have to go to fix my mechanics too.

I think many pitchers can relate to feeling how bad older mechanics were for ourselves and the progressions it takes. the only problem is many of us can't figure it out in time and our playing clock runs out.

Seeing this was a real EYE OPENER! My mechanics (did) resemble your UCLA mechanics. Implementing some tweaks based on your principles of DRIFT, DROP, ROTATE, BLOCK, SEPARATE, LOAD SPIRAL, & THROW. Initial results are ENCOURAGING! I'm buying in and gonna keep working on this. Thanks Mr. Bauer!

I went to a pitching clinic as a little league pitcher. They taught a 6 step process that stuck with me. This point here 5:33 I remember I feel almost like I'm doing a split I try to get real low to the ground which forces a nice lunge. When you can mix that with that pushed back foot and drive all that momentum it makes for a good pitch. But at that exact moment at the position you called "block" I distinctly remember feeling simultaneously low to the ground and extremely accurate. It's as if doing the proper mechanics ensures a "feeling" of using simple hand eye coordination like the target feels closer than it actually is. Or rather the more proper the mechanics, the more it felt like I was closing that gap, and accuracy improved as a result.

Can you start a series on RU-vid where guys send you their mechanics and you critique them? I think that would be really cool to watch!

Hey Trevor, To what extent do good mechanics influence pitching effectiveness and velocity? Even with mechanics that you deem less effective - you still performed very in college and made it to the MLB. Just curious to see what made you make significant mechanical changes in spite of earlier success - and what your advice would be to pitchers in terms of maintaining natural movement patterns vs form optimization. Thanks.

QUESTION.. It looks like you used to have a straight front leg on the plant that would allow you to rotate over the hip but now you plant your front foot with a bend in your knee which seems like it would decrease overall momentum/ball speed but the trade off is more control and less damage to the hip joint?

Can we get a video on how you track your recovery? And your thoughts on devices like Oura rings and whoops?

One thing I noticed through all the videos was the evolution of your arm delivery. It started out longer (in college) and got noticeably shorter. Was this something you consciously worked on? Or was it just a by-product of your overall mechanics? Would love to hear your thoughts on this! Thanks !!

in 2010 you are quite obviously "doing the Lincecum". You're pushing off the mound way out in front, plus your bowed back, and the lead leg behind the rubber during drift. In 2011 you land really short, but the front view still looks like Lincecum. Just without the "leap" forward
