I love how Trevor says that even though there were significant turning points in his journey, there wasn't any point where suddenly everything became easy. Becoming sober and becoming active in Church was accomplished day by day, and it took faith and perseverance to keep moving forward. I also find it really interesting that he said that what attracted him to the other Christian churches was their easy lifestyle. I agree with him that it is better to have any relationship with God (be a member of any church) than to have no relationship with God.
Adjusting to my new life in the Church was tough. I learned when you ask Heavenly Father to help you he will provide strength and support through the Holy Ghost and His chosen earthly supporters. I am happier than I've ever been, rough road notwithstanding. Thank you for sharing your experiences.
Trevor, I love your attitude of always wanting to do your best and to be a good example. The youth today are presented with far too many shallow examples. Some people view a testimony like building a large fortress, a lot of work in the beginning, but once it's done, you're good to go. However, it's more like physical conditioning. It's something you have to do every day, or you'll quickly begin losing the benefits. Stay strong, Brother.
Loved your journey home story. It never ceases to amaze me how true the scriptures are when they say “For the things which some men esteem to be of great worth, both to the body and soul, others set at naught and trample under their feet.”
Very interesting how different people are. I absolutely would never join the military, and never touch alcohol, and definitely never have anything to do with any protestant church. I do have a very different set of weaknesses.
"why you gotta do me like that" lol. Great story, thanks for sharing. I am always looking forward to the next podcast, so uplifting and inspirational. It helps so many people have hope.
