Colbert often takes the backseat and let his guest du all the talking when he knows he has a guest who can carry the segment and do his thing. Like with Trevor, Conan, John Oliver, etc

I remember when Trevor interviews his guests, he would sometimes not say a word (apart from nodding and simple responses like “right” “sure”) for minutes. Both he and Stephen are good professional interviewers, apart from being amazing comedians.

Great example for your daughter...he had entrepreneurial spirit at a young age in the townships of South Africa...a place where youth don't seem to naturally lean towards entrepreneurship, sadly. He took on a great opportunity and challenge by selling in a tough situation.

he is very, but he's an improv guy first, and this show doesn't allow for his characters inside to come out. He tries to poke at his guest but if they go super logical, the spirit isn't there.

Carolyn Worthington He was going on Ellen & wanted to make sure he picked out a really nice outfit just for her show but didn’t want the outfit to get wrinkled or messed up on the flight from NY where he shoots his show & lives most of the time to CA where Ellen’s show is. However, he has a temporary home in CA as well & when he asked his stylist to ship his special outfit overnight from NY to CA for Ellen... she mistakenly sent it to his CA home & not directly to The Ellen Show studio. He didn’t go to his home when he flew in. He went straight to The Ellen Show. So, when he asked Ellen’s staff where his special outfit was & they said they didn’t have it... he immediately thought he was being pranked since Ellen is always scaring & pranking everyone. Once too much time had passed & no one brought him his clothing, he contacted his stylist & together they realized what had happened. So he felt really bad that he couldn’t wear the outfit for her & instead had to wear what he wore on the plane which, to him, was more of a relaxed outfit that wasn’t that special. He told her all this on air & talked about how the special Ellen outfit had many shades of brown etc. This outfit is brown so the OP was making a reference to the outfit in Trevor’s story to Ellen. However, he was a guest on Colbert in Feb. 2019 & he went on Ellen in Apr. 2019. So if the “Ellen outfit” was special & purchased just for her show... that means... there’s no way this outfit is the same one since this show aired 2 months prior & he had already worn it on Colbert. He said the outfit in question was specifically just for her show. So although it’s brown... there’s no way it’s the same one. 😂

Good for him! Last time I was in the Jo'berg airport I saw several huge sales displays of "Born a Crime," so nobody could walk by without seeing that Trevor Noah had a book available. Before this, I hadn't known that he was such a big star in his home country. I am very happy for him (also happy that I eventually bought the book because it is so entertaining).

I can think of no job a person ought to hold for fifty years at the same level.

All elected senior political posts (President/Congress/Governor) should be just one term (of 5/6 years as 4 is too short to accomplish anything). Then they could concentrate on the job at hand rather than having their eyes on the "prize" again.

Trevor is right on the nose with this, term limits are essential. As he said, most of them are only thinking about re-election and money.

I think in the end it wouldn't matter. It's not just singular politicans concerned with getting reelected, it is entire parties. And that's not going to change just because specific people won't be in office anymore. Even if Trump couldn't run again in 2 years, Republicans would still want to force the wall so next time they can say "LOOK WHAT WE DID FOR YOUR SAFETY". Allowing a president to hold office for two terms on the other hand has the added benefit of a longer period of stability (......normally). Keep in mind that the base idea was to elect a fitting person for the job, and for hundreds of years that worked just fine. I don't fucking know why a nearly-majority of people thought it would be fun to put the jester in the king's seat for 4 years, but based on his approval ratings, I think by now we all mostly agree that was a HORRIBLE idea and you hopefully learnt your lesson for the future. I may not have liked what former Republican presidents stood for, but at least every single one was a mostly respectable man that tried his best to wisely lead the nation to prosperity and a good future. Trump on the other hand is an angry toddler throwing a fit.

I think more Americans agree with that than you think.
