@@johnaugustin3472 You just like what he says because it confirms your massive bias. The guy is ONE SIDED. Every one side, if you blinker yourself to adhere exclusively to it, can be made to sound wise and logical to you. But Cheva is a flaming bigot. It is easy to escape looking bigoted if you are advocating for Twitty Bird while QUESTIONABLY accusing BIG Big Bird of stepping on Tweety’s toes deliberately. In fact, you look like a downright compassionate, knight in shining armor Robin Hood. That’s why Al Sharpton can spill a lot of vacuous, easily debunkable claptrap and his audience just blindly cheers their approval. On this, Morgan Freeman would agree with me. Thomas Sowell as well. Others ... many, too. Candace Owens. Denzel. Lil Wayne. ALL BLACK. ALL SENSIBLE. I recently caught Cheva in a video mocking white people for their lack of rhythm. Which is fine. But he’s raising a fuss through the stratosphere about ‘deep in the mind’ micro aggressions thoughts of white people. Yet he blithely utters a good sized, not so micro aggression hisself. Nat qvite togeda in da hed, dat Cheva. You people need to examine your own “white supremacy” ... cos guess what. Everybody’s got it. The whites colonized not because the blacks turned down the opportunity because they’re moral. No. Whoever gets their act together colonizes ... even within a family. It is nothing personal. The commies that are using “colonialism lingering pain” lies to hammer at the smart and powerful white folks in order to defeat them and institute communism worldwide ... they know that they are spewing lies ! But they don’t care as long as it works and serves their purpose. You see ... people who benefit from the lies, and those who’ve been guilted and brainwashed by the lies ... believe them.

WOW - AMAZING that I relate to Trevor's story?!? I am amazed that I can relate. Reared in the mountains of TN, MTN City, TN to be exact, I was the ONLY black girl born in 1974. That separated me from others by age, grade, and experience. My mom went back to college, and my brother and I were moved to finish school in McDonough, GA. When I walked into class, it was similar to Trevor's experience on the playground. The whites sat on one side; the blacks sat on the other; and I didn't know where to sit. IN AMERICA, there are so many ways people choose to separate, feeling that helps them belong. I wasn't a Georgian, I was still a Volunteer (Tennessee). My skin was black; I had a curly perm because that was how my mom handled my kinky hair in the mountains. I had no friends; my black experience was my mom, dad and brother; I "spoke white", but I really spoke English, Sign Language, and some Spanish. I admire Trevor's comedy and the way he LISTENS to others in order to "speak to their hearts." I now have mutt accent as I listened to others and picked up bits and pieces from TV that I could master and not get picked on. Having my own children, it's so cute how "Mom's language" is being passed to another generation. Now, I can realize that and laugh. Trevor's life has helped me not to take myself so seriously. Thanks, Trevor Noah!

I can't wait to read Trevor's book! I have a very similar background, being born down South to a white mother and black father, but in a poor mexican rural household. When it. was discovered that we were black, all he'll broke lose, and baby sister and I were spirited away to a Catholic Orphanage. Eventually we adopted by an Educated Black couple in Philadelphia. The journey had begun, because now we were black, not Mexican or white. My new black father became a music professor, and my mother was the 1st black jeopardy champion. I even had cornrows for a short time at Stony Brook University. I worked for ABC News, eventually teaching high school Biology in NYC. I am going to search for "Born a Crime" today! Thank you for the inspiration!

As a kid, I always thought after democracy was introduced in South africa the racism issue won't be relevant anymore. I can tell that Trevor was kinda touched by what he was reading as if he could relate more to it. He always speaks and joke about how proud he is of being labelled black and African but he struggled with his identity from a young age. This guy is an ICON! He is smart and intelligent and sadly underrated. The society could learn a lot from what he educate through comedy which is equality and racism.

Trevor, and to whomever else can answer this question, I don't fit into the notion of black or white and can identify with that feeling of sometimes being accepted by one group or another but when I talk with people about racial discrimination and economic inequality it is always judged through the lenses of whomever I am talking with. As an outcast from either group I have often argued that white people need to be part of the conversation but I have noticed that any time a white person asks a question of or makes a positive statement about a movement like Black Lives Matter or the Black Women's march, they get met with hostility and are told their opinions are invalid. I understand that this stems from the fact that some people just get used to fighting all the time and don't know how to react to someone who wants to help solve the issues that have become so pervasive in our society. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. knew we needed allies of all backgrounds. How, in this current environment do we bridge divides and bring an understanding that people should not be dismissed if they are truly trying to understand their own privilege as it relates to the people they are trying to help because they don't understand why there is inequality and don't agree that they should have any privilege that others do not simply due to the color of thier skin?

I was kind of surprised at the man asking Trevor Noah how does he feel about the black people in America who were offended by his impersonations of black people. All of the black people I know and myself have always loved and admired Trevor Noah. Trevor Noah even said himself that black people seem to embrace him more than white people. I truly love Trevor Noah and what he is doing. I feel like the world needed to see someone like him and know that Africa is full of diverse people and not the stereotype that America has created. I also love that he talks about Black Americans and what we go through.

I have been trying to say this for the longest time... “ im mixed with black but black culture in U.S is COMPLETELY different and I can’t identify with that. As a born Dominican living in the U.S I didn’t understand why I was called black in the U.S because we shared nothing but skin complexion. Skin color to us is obvious, we all pretty much look the same and not something that I had to think about as much , we had bigger issues like electricity and running water. It is not that we as Dominicans don’t accept our Afro ancestry because it’s reflected in our music food etc but the term black in America is a culture that is completely different from the Latino culture we grew up with on the island. We’re all still black lol everyone originated from Africa but the 1 drop rule culture didn’t happen to us and we (most) equally embrace all the mixtures that made us Native, Afro and Euro because we know that without one we wouldn’t have our culture food or traditions. It is the 1 drop rule that forces us to only accept our blackness stripping us of our “other” which make us.
@handsonwithharriet1749

Not Dominican. But after hearing Trevor totally understand. Whereas I didn't before. We so often get caught up in our owness that we fail to realize there are others. Like Trevor, once YOU got to America, or maybe since you've heard him, you can understand now why you were relegated as being Black. It's the culture of America.
@rosahacketts1668

@zoep.2891
@zoep.2891 7 месяцев назад
@rosahacketts1668: I think he meant, that by the one drop rule of the US people are seen as just black, even if they are of mixed race. That's what I never understood. Someone who has three white and one black grandparent(s) is still considered black, even though their ancestry is 75% white...
