If penning pans out at RT it would be further more truth than pete Carmichael and the rest of the offensive staff last year had no clue wtf they were doing because if klint and his staff see that hey maybe penning footwork ect is better suited at RT can see that from jump that's crazy 😂

Honestly I believe Trevor Penning don’t have the feet or quickness to play tackle, I think he would be an excellent OG. He’s not good in space, speed rushers killed him, technic sound DE’s killed him, bull rushers kill him because his foot work was tragic, at guard he’s not in space he’s working in close quarters and can utilize his strength smashing people. Penning is far from being a failure he’s just not used properly, OG is his NFL position.

Still believe we are in "collecting data" mode. They already knew how Fuaga performs at RT and Penning in the blind side. That said, if the results are similar, probably the best player will earn LT duties

I believe they still have hope for Ram. I think that they are thinking, worst case scenerio, Penning plays a few games at RT. Next year depending on how it works out, will draft another tackle

Fuaga, I think, will be a very good pro , and Carr doesn't want Penning on the blind side after the injury when Trever did the Peat ole' move. They are trying to do the factory reset with Penning and it has a chance to be successful

Haener looks good and he has more experience than rattler, people keep over hyping rattler like he's all that, but he's just a rookie like Haener was last year and how Derek was his first year. Rattler doesn't look like a day one starter yet.

Man I hope I’m wrong on Penning as well, hope he becomes a pro bowler. Just being realistic on him as he couldn’t play in our jumbo package last year. So him starting anywhere in our Oline would be a huge achievement and would help us save face on the draft pick becoming an official bust. Noone’s rooting against him that’s a real Saints fan.

I’ll believe in Penning when he shows us something against real competition, until then I have zero confidence. I heard some reporters today saying Penning looked really good on the right. Hell I could too, and I’m 43 and out of shape. There’s no D-Line. He’s defending against the spirit of NFL past, he better look good. 🤷🏻‍♂️

All i heard about penning is that the coaches gave up on him last season, even though he looked real good in the few snaps he had. Why not keep him at left tackle and move fuaga to guard.

It’s too risky and the staff knows enough or has seen enough to not try and risk him getting Carr killed from his blindside. This is a last ditch effort move at RT to not have to release a 1st rd pick. We couldn’t trade him for a combo meal right now from Whataburger.

I will be optimistic. I think that the new staff is simply ensuring the right people are on the field in the right positions this season. It is after all a mostly new offensive staff. But here is the other possibility, realistically: It's just another shot in the dark, much like the decision to draft Penning in the first place. We just got a LT, so perhaps let him develop and keep our world class RT at RT? Either way, definitely shaping up to be the most interesting season in recent memory.

Fuaga is pronounced with an ng sound for the g. It was mentioned on draft day that Taliese and his family have always pronounced their Samoan surname with the Samoan pronunciation. The letter g represents a velar nasal, as in the English word sing, rather than a voiced velar stop, as in the English go. Thus, the correct pronunciation of Pago Pago is [ˈpaŋo ˈpaŋo]. SO- those pronouncing the Samoan way are doing it because it’s correct. They aren’t just mispronouncing it in a completely non-intuitive way. Instead they are just respecting Taliese and his family and heritage. Taliese informed at the time if the draft, but stubborn folk may hold sway as he doesn’t have time to correct everyone. Give the conscientious announcers and media some credit. It’s ok to get a name wrong when it’s not obvious but only until you have been corrected. Let others know the correct pronunciation and let’s get behind our new talented Left Tackle!

@@LouisWinthorpe3 I did too, this just speaks volumes at where Penning is and isn’t. The new staff has evaluated him and don’t want to try him at LT. That speaks volumes to me, here’s to hoping he wins a spot at RT. Otherwise “he gone” sooner than later.
