Trex arms gives you a discount if you do your duty to carry everyday, pledge to legally carry, and promise to protect yourself and others. Now if that isn’t American, I don’t know what is 🇺🇸🦅
@@mikelangelo2020 their customer service is awesome too. I bought their owb holster and ordered the pancake clips but they missed them in my original package and when i messaged them about it no questions asked they have a set in the mail for me already
In regards to the pricing, if anyone needs justification... here it is: "Buy once, cry once!" OR "Buy NICE or buy TWICE!". Especially for something that's gonna be carrying a firearm that may potentially save your life... (or anything really relating to firearms/tools being used for self defense) GET QUALITY SHIT. DO NOT get UNCLE BOB'S/MIKE'S Leather holsters from your local outdoor sporting goods stores... they are garbage and sometimes even dangerous.
Agreed on the price topic. I wish price wasn’t even factored in when comparing the 2 models. Certain things are important so I think in a world where everyone is walking around with a thousand dollar cell phone in their pocket, the price of a holster should be irrelevant. Great video!
I work in IT, and I find the idea of anyone spending anywhere close to 1k on their phone to be hilarious. Oh, you bought 1/20th of a gaming computer for the same price? Very smart.
Glad you mentioned the claw slipping a bit when wearing cheaper belts on the Tier 1. Not a big deal but I noticed this as well. Very helpful video for those shopping around.
On the topic of belts, my "gun belt" is 1.5" wide, but the Tier 1 holsters are equipped with 1.75" clips... so there's room for slop. I'm wondering if that slop is acceptable for most or if I should either get a holster with 1.5" clips instead or a belt with 1.75" clips... Thoughts and what do you wear?
@@anonypersona3189 I have only used a 1.5 inch wide belt with my Tier 1 holster and haven't had any issues with "slop" in regard to the clips. It is not noticeable and acceptable at least for me. My first belt was pretty flimsy but I have a Blue Alpha Gear belt ordered so hopefully that will help things a bit.
@@robertwoodall8871 Glad to hear! Yeah, I ended up ordering a Tier 1 but I've heard some people complaining about the 1.75" clips when using the common 1.5" belts while waiting for the order to be fulfilled. I did some searching around and worst case I'll buy some 1.5" aftermarket clips to rig with the Tier 1. Thanks!
I absolutely appreciate the detailed explanation of your business relationship with each company at the start of the video. Automatic thumbs up!!! Keep it up and people will appreciate the transparency!!! It's missing or incomplete in most of YT videos First time I see your video, love the analysis, honest review and truth to the viewers when they're "not always right". I see this vid is a year old so I hope you didn't switch your style
I honestly find that for me, appendix carry is way more comfortable than any other method of carry. I think the only method I haven't tried yet is belly band and shoulder holster carry. Plus, it feels more comforting knowing that my gun is on the front of my body where I can easily control access, instead of my 4-5 o'clock where it feels a little more vulnerable. Finally, it's so much more comfortable when driving compared to hip carry that I can't stand carrying on my hip while I'm in my car anymore. Not to mention that with AIWB in my car, I can actually access my gun without having to take 5 seconds to do all sorts of gymnastics lol great video, I can't say it helped me make up my mind, but I can now rest assured knowing that no matter which one of these I choose, I'm going to be very happy with it and it will be money well spent.
What are you considering for belly band? I'm brand new to edc so picking holster now but have seen belly band options and since I wear gym clothes a lot I've wondered whether this a separate "holster" altogether or which company makes a solid AIWB holster/band combo.
Great review, I've had the axis elite for my P365 for 2 weeks now, first appendix holster. I have had zero issues and see no reason to try anything else. Little gun I know also 6'4" 215 and even in a solid color light weight shirt that thing damn near disappears. Keep up the good work Ryan 👍
Good job bro. Explanation along with side comments base on your experience was spot on. Yes, it really depends on the end user but a frank review really helps in sales of the individual product. Rock on!
I will definitely try one of those holsters, I also appendix carry. Greatly appreciate the time, and work to put this video together. As with the real facts, and opinions on good quality products.
Ive just recently gotten the tier one slim for my Sig P320 carry. First time ever to carry Appendix style. and I have to say I cant even tell i have it on. sitting driving bending over ive even laid down and went to sleep with it on and never even knew it was there. I love it.
Does your p320 have an optic? I have a Vedder Holster that I love but going to upgrade my slide of the P320 Carry to the P320RX(which I think is literally just a slide with a cut out and romeo1 optic added on). My current holster isn’t optic ready
i will say, those who want a Trex holster a little cheaper, they do sell their blem holsters and 2nd hand (probably returned) on ebay. i got mine from ebay and it works great.
FYI: Trex Arms now has a totally redesigned 2.0 holster out with a hinge and the ability to attach other things to it besides just a mag carrier, so I would check out videos on that vs the Tier 1 before making your decision. Both are good holsters.
“The sidecar has been the sidecar the whole time” Truth! I love trex arms but it’s like they refuse to adopt any changes to the sidecar that didn’t come from their brains in house. For instance they say they don’t do a Flex sidecar because of lack of consistency or keeping it together during force on force but it’s been my experience (and the experience of a lot of other people) that that isn’t necessarily the case. imo they don’t adopt the idea because A. It’s a pride thing for them and B. It’d be costly production wise. But there’s definitely a market for it and a lot of people are switching to tier 1 (myself included) and they’re definitely shooting themselves in the foot with all that. Edit: I’d like to add that if Trex arms had a flex sidecar I 100% would’ve bought it over a tier 1 because I love Trex arms as a company and there are other features on the sidecar that I like over my axis slim. That flex center is just such a game changer that ultimately it’s something I couldn’t ignore and it’s definitely what drove me to switch.
@@oatmealwheatgrain But they had to one up on Tier 1 with that hinge pin lol, if they're going to copy someone by God they're gonna greatly improve on their competitor's innovation..
@@920Tactical maybe. But that design originated from trex arms. They even stated that they did not patent the design to let other companies produce it or innovate from it.
🤣 trex arms has thee worst customer service I've ever dealt with. They sent me a holster that had absolutely no retention. I was told to " make it work ". They refused to fix it. They are most definitely not top notch. It's awesome you had a good experience but they literally did me the worst they could have.
I just ordered a bravo concealment torsion 3.0. Good price & They have a good sale right now, and I liked the flexibility of choosing an appendix configuration or a strong side configuration. I’ll probably upgrade to a t1c axis slim eventually.
thats what i use when i carry my 19 MOS, its a great holster but i just ordered a tier 1 because im putting a tlr1 on my gun so i have to get a new holster anyway, might as well go big.
The Sidecar is my EDC for my SigP365XL. Works great and the spare mag being canted is very nice. Also the fact that it is a single piece means a slightly less possibility of failure. Buy once, cry once.
Just for the record my sidecar arrived in under a week and it’s a custom one, granted it’s a 43x with a light. Did get a red back though and it came quick!
One of the biggest differences for me being 5’6 slim build was how much holster is below the pants line. The T1 is so wide below the pants it ends up smashing my junk sitting down and stabs both of my legs pushing the pistol into my stomach. I just ordered a Sidecar because it’s so much thinner down low. That being said T1 holster is awesome and I have had no issues with it.
Cade Brown the side car is soooo much better. I filed down some of the sharp bottom corner edges on it and I don’t even realize I have it on half the time. I have a full range of motion compared to T1. I can ride Bmx with sidecar no issues.
25evets i appreciate the input. Idk if i would try to ride at the park with a sidecar back in the day tho. I used to eat shit over the spine alot. Ill look into grabbing one lol
Found your reviews a while back and purchased Axis elite for G43 and G45. I recently got a T1-M for the G43 for unique situations and love all my holsters. I’m sure you’ve seen on the Non-light bearing Elites the concealment claw is more of a wing and I haven’t had any issues with mine slipping under or above the belt. I’m 6’4 220lbs so I really enjoyed your perspective, thanks for the reviews!
I have a Tier 1 for my p365 and love it. I looked to see if the made a holster and side car for my P220 legion in 45 and they do not list it. P226 ok, 1911 ok, but P220 nothing. T Rex does however. And it’s less expensive. Well done!
I, personally, don't like Glock's ergos-- never have, no matter the model. But I'd be in denial to say they arent the benchmark for every pistol out there. So... #1) I'm glad your doing your comparisons using a Glock cause we're all familiar with it's size & weight-- For now, I *still* carry a PPS which is easier to conceal than a 19. (Although, I'm thinking about 'upgrading' to a duty-size Smith). So, I know your opinions will probably be more than valid, at least for me #2) All the holsters you're comparing here are good, quality holsters that you just cant go wrong with. I, for one, am glad to hear your 'real world' input-- even if a little biased (I dont really think so, tho)
love the reviews. great job as always. I need to do a video review, but i simply have no time (2 kids, 1 on thr way). Been running the T1C AXIS Elite for a few months now. When researching before that purchase, I could not find ONE real world review. One video did a good job showing patterned and solid color shirts, another discussed seated and driving, but no transitions. Someone should discuss - print from sitting position, transition from standing to seated and vice versa...maybe more as a technique and tips video than product review. So for your viewers, here is my situation. Im 5'8", 170lbs, semi-fit with a bit of a dad bod (wee spare tire gut) I have discovered SO much variance in printing with regard to different shirts and belt tension. Now, with the T1C, I can nearly completely conceal a P365 w/12 rnd spare mag under my slight spare tire while wearing a fitted "athletic" fabric shirt AS long as I really crank that klick belt down! HOWEVER, during sit-stand-sit transitions, I WILL print and must adjust/pull the shirt to avoid the "cling". Patterned button down shirts with moderate belt tension is my easiest and best conceal/comfort combo. ALMOST ZERO print in most body positions, even when twirking. just kidding, no twerking here. just plinking. As far as the T1C, they offer the UltiClips as an upgade. I thought they would be awesome. Maybe for those who have specific needs kr dont use a belt, they might work. I found since the clips attach to the pants, the hoster and it's claw would ride low, reducing purchase so much I could never get a consistent draw. The pistol grip was basically buried against my belt which is not forgiving nor flexible. I opted to install the standard clips which fit this particular belt so well, they actuall clip onto it. It is a phenomenal set up. Hope the additional viewpoint helps somebody!
I was running a trak line belt and always had issues with printing mostly because of the huge buckle. I switched to a blue alpha gear belt and I can carry concealed in almost anything.
i hear the Blue Alpha Gesr belt os great. I run my belt right side with the buckle behind the first belt loop and tail going rearward. this is so it doesn't print the buckle and the quick adjust lever on the buckle is accessible. I might try that belt you have some day.
I did exactly what you said. Bought 4 holsters that were 40-80 and just ordered the T1C axis slim! Now just 2 months until it comes in. If it works. Worth the weight.
Thanks for doing the video, Ryan. Job well done on the comparison. Came your way via a comment about Trex Arms over on John Lovell's Warrior Poet Channel. Was 95% of the way on the Axis Slim. You made me feel confident in my direction. Like how you break things down. Looking forward to checking out your other stuff. Stay Safe.
That was a very fair assessment. I’ve been on the fence on buying one or the other, as they both seem very comparable in performance. And one might add more weight to one your categories over other considerations.
The LLOD holsters are good, but there are others of better quality yes. I like the single clip, smaller design and it’s more comfortable, with a small gun it’s not the best though. Two clips is more sturdy and consistent IMO
Tier1Concealed during normal demand have lead times of 10-15 days. Their lead times have continued to increase as people panic buy guns and ammo because of Covid. Hoping that comes back down soon.
@@guns_n_graphics I know you will!! I totally understand that you can't decrease lead times without exposing yourselves to issues when demand returns to normal. I'm just glad I got my new Axis Elite before it got up to 5 weeks!
@@tristan4543 yeah it is wild in the shop right now! We're attempting to expand building operations so that we can get our lead times back down to a reasonable time frame. I'm excited that you're excited! What did you order?
I had the T. Rex Sidecar less than 24 hours before I returned it. Quality product, just not comfortable for someone who is 5'9 195 with a dad bod-ish type body.
@@MrJBARRON Honestly it worked out really well. The holster fits great. I use it on my Blue alpha gear cobra buckle style belt. I ordered it with the TLR-1 configuration. Great holster. I’m impressed so far. Only regret is not picking a cooler color😂 If you want I could make a post on Reddit later on with pictures.
Bought a Tier One axis, has broken 5 times and been replaced 3 times. Bend radius cracks along pistol ejector on slide. Broke at 3 months, then 1 year, then 5 months. Finally quit replacing it. Holster is now jb welded heavy in two places where bend radius cracks kept forming. Would not buy again. Quality and improved design needed. The bends are on the T Rex have wider radiuses and seems a more durable design.
The pistol make was P229. Tier 1 did replace the holsters at no charge, but who wants to replace the $140 holster every 6 months or less? 6'3", 185#. T1C is a fast draw and fairly comfy, conceals quite well. Design just puts too much shear stress on the slide bend and claw when I squat, move, or sit ( I drive 3 hours a day) and forms cracks. Just my experience.
Have both and I use the Tier 1. Nothing against Lucas and TREX. TREX does have great support and good shipping. My Tier 1 did take a while but worth it.
so basically if you want a comfortable holster go with Tier One. But, If you want one thats going to save your life, Trex Arms is the one? Appreciate ya boss.
@@EmbracetheRecoil I don't know if they've added it now, but I ordered mine around that time, and just let them know that was my optic, and they were able to provide me with a compatible version of their Sidecar.
The sidecar 2.0 is leaps and bounds better than the earlier models. The hinge system they put in the middle really helped. I run a trex, but I’ll tell you who else makes a good holster and that is Black Arch. The Black Arch Entrada is a really nice sidecar style. Definitely pay the money. I bought a tier 1 Xiphos (waited 4 weeks on the stupid thing) and hated it. Could not get comfortable with it. I feel like you need to spend the money on a sidecar style holster if you want the max amount of comfort.
Speaking of times; I had a gun painted once and the guy told me 3 weeks. 9 weeks later I had to go get it...in pieces. Lucky for me I'm very handsome so it was easy to put together
Love my Tier 1, but to let other CZ P10 F owners know. The Axis for the P10 F with a TLR-1 does not work lol. I believe it could work without a TLR-1. It makes the holster just long enough to stab you when you sit. Granted I’m the dummy trying to EDC a P10 F with a giant flashlight on it. No grudge on Tier 1, super high quality!
Dude yes preach the holster cost argument. I hate it when people buy a Shadow 2 or some other expensive gun and then get a crap sub $50 holster. A good holster and belt is what will let you comfortably carry the gun instead of it sitting in the safe. Granted these are usually the same people that complain about a holster company when the gun starts to show holster wear.
I have a Tier one but I noticed the claw had same problem so I ordered one from trex and put that on lol much better. Had to drill a new hole in the claw because they don't match. Also I'm a first time watcher and I'm also Ryan and 35 haha but only 6'1" 205lbs hahaha
Some of have very little choice if we are left handed have a weapon light and don't use glock or Smith and Wesson. Tier 1 is the only sidecar like holster of quality that offers left hand draw while supporting a web light I have found so far.
The Axis Slim is my preferred for ONE reason and it’s a big one: T Rex Arms does not make the side car compatible with the Walther PDP, which is my cc firearm.
Last Line Of Defense “Associate” holster is insanely comfortable. I own a T1 but got tired of trying to pretend it was comfortable, even after installing the pads.
I own both and fit a finish wise the trex arms is superior but the tier one is a little more comfortable overall, if I eat gluten I swell lol and the tier one expands with me but if I stay away from bread I actually like the solid construction of the side car more. But they are both great can’t go wrong.
I waited 3 months for my mckinatec kina flex and it was definitely worth it... had to stick with a cheap kydex for the time being. I think the holster is almost as important as the gun.
Just a thought on the comment about why people may want different colors. I have a Beretta PX4 Storm and a Glock 19 they are similar size but the mold is different and they are the same color. The next time I buy holsters for those gun they will be different colors so it is easy to know which holster is for which gun.
My experience with tier 1 is that their current quality control is not where it needs to be. I own the slim. Contacted them multiple times about poor build quality. They sent out a replacement that was bad as well. Not sure if they check it before it leaves the warehouse.
The last score was on company and you want a company that are “gun people”. It seems like TREX wins that because they’re not just a holster company-but a gun company. Plus the sidecar stays where you want it-which is the idea of a holster. Curious if the review would go another way if TREX gave you a free holster instead on a discount code. Ps- I don’t own either holster and I’m not an appendix carry dude.
Lol if you only know how much I spent on gun stuff. I ran a Trex for 2 years. Tier ones better. For me. All personal preferences. If I’m gonna be bought. It’s not for $100
