TRIAL TO TABLE - SPRING CELEBRATION 2023 at The Mule, Asheville NC
The Utopian Seed Project's Chris Smith joins Pat Battle and host Lisa Almaraz to talk about the exciting local food community event, Trial to Table on May 13 from 1:30 - 4:00 pm. Chris is a James Beard award-winning author of the book, "The Whole Okra: A Stem to Seed Celebration".
The Utopian Seed Project grows a wide range of crops and varieties with the aim of increasing agro-biodiversity into the food and farming system. They host food focused events and partner with incredible local chefs to showcase the crops they are working with.
Their food events cover everything from simple variety tastings, to crop specific pop-ups, to the signature "Trial to Table" events, as well as larger sit-down ‘farm to table style’ dinners.
Our Spring Celebration will focus on root flours and alternative seed flours. We grow achira, yacon, cassava, ube, yam, sweet potato, turmeric, ginger, arrowroot and more. All these tropical roots make great flours so we are bringing together bakers and pastry chefs to show off these crops! Expect something creative and delicious.
