That's exactly what you would have found in my late mother's Royal Dansk tins - needles, threads, a pair of scissors, and bobbins. She had another tin filled with Minlon wool yarns. This was in the late 70s.

Oh, my dear Rana... folks all over the world keep their trinkets in the Royal Dansk tin box after the cookies are gone 💖 It's a tradition - welcome to the club!

My grandmother put sewing supplies in her box, then my mother and now me! Yes we all save our tins or at least most of us do!

Hey Gents, those tins are a staple for holding sewing kits and buttons when we're done with the cookies.😉💚

So, in Canada, the tin of these cookies are more famous than the actual cookie, because it always contains sewing stuff! Lol no one really remembers eating the cookies. They've just always had one of these tins full of sewing things. Usually at their Granny's, sometimes also at home. (It's a joke. You can find and buy the cookies. But it's true that the tin is a very good reusable container for all kinds of things. Why is it almost always sewing stuff? I don't know. Hahaha 😁) I think it's a requirement to have these cookies with tea or coffee. They're really very boring on their own.

Some people put sewing stuff in the tin to make visitors think they don't have anymore cookies so they can eat them all by themselves. Just kidding. But they are a great container for sewing goods.

American here, it's not just a Canadian thing. Those tins often get used for sewing supplies here, too.

@CherryCherry Five "They're really very boring on their own." The blasphemy is strong with this one. See my original post for further details. But the short version is, you're wrong, they're delicious. And seeing them here, made me hungry for them. There must be something wrong with your tastebuds, if you find them to be boring. I thought canadians were supposed to be nice, guess everybody got fooled, lol. Mini-rant done.

1. My favorite xmas cookies. Brings back great memories and I eat them every year and 2. Mr. Rana is on the right track. We definitely reuse the tin to keep stuff in. 🤣🤣🤣 How universal people truly are!

1:04 LoL we do this too! Almost every house in America has a cookie (aka biscuit) tin with buttons or other sewing kit items kept in them. I love to see the differences between cultures but even more so, the similarities. It truly is a small world. ❤😊
