Yes the Nicholas Brothers was the best African-American tapping Duo back in the day still to this day nobody can tap dance like them two. it was sad back in the day there was invited to play at The Cotton club club was pretty much packed with African American people and pretty much everybody was able to use the front entrance but sadly the Nicholas brothers and every African-American had to go and use the back door to get into the club because they didn't want to see a black man walking in to a club for black people it was sad but all the greats performed there. Still to this day you will never find two African American male tap dancers who did what the Nicholas brothers did with the home stairs sequence absolute masterpiece they were

@@im-gi2pg This is true, but there are so many 'hidden figures' in the American fabric. People, who in the height of the fame or era, were denied so much because of their color. For foreigners that don't know, there is an old saying in the United States that goes as follows. "How do you get to Carnegie Hall". The answer is "Practice". Carnegie hall is a world famous music venue in New York City but some may not have heard of it. His statement about hard work pays off made me think of it.

Not only is it one of the best/most difficult Tap dances done, it’s done so smoothly and they make it look almost effortless- smiles the whole time. Landing in a Splits move is tough, but even tougher is how they slide their legs together to stand, no using their hands to push up to standing. It really is the greatest Tap Dance performance.

The drummer seen at 0:53 is J. C. Heard. I spoke to him a few times on the telephone back in the mid-1980s when I was an announcer at a jazz radio station in Trenton, NJ. He was a really nice guy and was excited that my station was playing his records. (He was leading his own big band out of Detroit at this point.) I first saw this dance clip when I was taking swing dance lessons in the mid-1990s. The Nicholas Brothers aren't only incredible dancers but outstanding athletes as well. They knew how to both control their muscles and take care of them, too. Nobody does stuff like that without getting injured unless they knew proper stretching, warm-ups, etc. This dance is a marker by which all other dances need to be measured.

Cab Calloway was one of the great old entertainers. He could dance, sing, and bring a great band together. He's entertained people long after his lifetime! Watching this today in 2023 in as exciting and fresh as it was when they first released it in 1939. It's sad to think that wonderful talents like Mr. Calloway endured horrible racism, and that there is part of the system wants to return to those unenlightened times. There was nothing "great" about being anything that wasn't heterosexual, male, Caucasian and Christian in those days. Countless people suffered horribly and the system allowed it. So, please, I don't want to hear a word about "making America great again." What a load of rubbish. Thank goodness there are some brave and balanced souls fighting to make the dream of true democracy a reality for all.
