Hello Indian Guy . Your video was really good. Did you get the shifting problem sorted out yet ? I just ordered one, it seams very good value. I will take it up on Exmoor and try to get fit. I have not ridden for 30 years since I had a little accident and wrote off my old road bike.
Yes, i did, have visited decathlon store and they confirmed that it was great tuning.Looks smooth and haven't had any problems so far in 300kms.As you said,that's what attracted me to this bike in the first place,its so value for money and there is nothing in this price range atleast where I live if you look for a gravel Great to hear that, wish you all the best and happy riding.
Hi , Could you pls describe your experience with this bike and its performances when making steep climbs especially on hilly areas and steepy bridges. I am also planning for the same bike by migrating from an MTB
It's been good.From my experience, the climbs are fine, the cogs are able to handle it well. As i said, you might feel that you have outgrown it especially if are making the transition from mtb.
Hi, thanks for your very good review. You say the bike is a bit sluggish on normal roads. How fast can you go on flat, even road surfaces? Is it hard to get to 30-35kph? Thank you
The casette is 11/40T and crankset has 38T.I've felt it's not equipped for a sprint on flat roads and downhill,you will outrun the casette in no time.Coming to the speed, there are multiple factors as you know, person to person and conditions it will have an impact. My avg speed on mtb is 16kmph where as on 120 grvl it's 21kmph on 1hr plus rides. Maintaining avg speed above 30 is a task on this for sure,well that's the case for me, i do hit 40 more often but couldn't keep it there.
I've clocked over 1.7ks on this bike. The 38T crank was an Achilles heel of this bike and I knew it from the day I test rode it. after 1.5k, when I had gone to replace my chain and rear cassette, I had replaced the crank with a 44T (from a Triban 100) and Man oh Man! it is FAST. Before the upgrade, I used to average at around 23+/- on 30km rides and I am able to average 26-27 kmph over the same rides. My top speed has increased too. And this is in spite of city traffic. This is a fast, comfortable and practical bike once you spend the extra Rs.900 towards the crank upgrade. But be ready to work your muscles when you are riding on 11x44. That is really hard on your legs. However, over the couple of hundred kilometers, I am getting used to it . However, remember that these come with 38C tyres and they aren't the best for speeds. But hey! you can run over anything on the road, unlike a road bike and it is a win for me.
Much better I felt. It's more upright, I come from MTBs and u found the transition easy, the flared handle makes it easy in my opinion. Do consider the terrain you ride, based on that you will end up using hoods,tops or the drops more.
I cannot really say that since both are from different segments, one is a road bike and the other is gravel.What Incan tell you is, 120 grvl is a great gravel bike for the price you pay, if you are someone who is looking to get started with gravel, go for it,else you might feel that you have outrun it a bit sooner.
Currently i have mtb (rockrider st100) but doing 100 kms on it is tiresome so I want to upgrade cycle with good speed for long distance but considering indian roads (potholes/rough patches on highways) should I buy triban rc 500 or rc120 gravel ?
I come from similar background as I've started with Trek marlin and Marin bobcat and felt that I wanted to cover long distance.Now choosing gravel or roadbike depends upon your style,the roads around you and what performance that you wanna reach. For me, speed is not the key but endurance, ride comfort and the locality i am from,is filled with mixed roads and hence opted for gravel.
