The whispered “suga” is what Yoongi says all the time in songs he participates in, even in BTS you’ll hear it before his verses! It’s like his signature. Hobi sometimes says “hope world” which is self explanatory & Namjoon occasionally says “RM” or “Rkive” (his studio name)
it's very funny cause when he got to work with epik high (!!!) for eternal sunshine he tried to play it cool but then at the end he realized he hadn't put his signature and begged them to let him go back to add it LMAO
Nothing will ever be more iconic than suga randomly dropping out of NO WHERE during "that that" lol no one was expecting that when it happened. You should look up Jungkook dancing to that that. He loves this dance and does it all the time
It was really the preliminary start of Chapter 2, before we knew it was coming. It was the first time (ever?) that one of the guys was alone in someone else's video. Such a shock, and so damn much fun.. :)
@@Always4Bangtan exactly! Lol we were all sad thinking BTS wouldn't be back until all their military service but on reality suga kick started what would become all their solo/Collab successes before we knew what was in store for us. I agree
Eight is a tragic but beautiful song. Ita heavily suggested that the song is in reference to the passing of at least one but more than likely 2 idols that IU knew and was close with due to suicide. Mental health is not a priority in korea like it is here and they have a very high suicide rate. We just lost another beautiful soul this last week to it. I dont blame reactors when they dont pick up on it with a first viewing, especially if they dont know the history of IU and these artists who took their lives. But once you know, read the lyrics again and watch the video... it's an entirely different experience.
I just got chills. I never looked at it that way. Well i wasn’t there when this song dropped so I haven’t read any theories about it. Now, reading the lyrics again… 💔
her friends are referenced during the animated part. the lizard was one of the friend's representative animal and the girl that jumps on his back is not iu but the second friend, that is made clear when they cross the plane where iu is, where she sees them with a sad smile and tears up a little
@@mamtadehariya9305 honestly same, the news just popped up on my feed suddenly and I felt my heart drop to my stomach. Eight came to mind not long after😢
the girl singing in the background used to be a producer of theirs but debuted now as a solo artist! her name is ADORA and she still sometimes does vocals for yoongi (she’s the voice on SDL from the new DDAY album)
@@AnnieDHarpie she’s actually not on People pt2. The bg vocals is IU. I got the album today and she’s not credited for that song but is credited for SDL and Life Goes On.
@@AnnieDHarpie she is even in a few BTS songs like home, she is in daydream, euphoria, and other songs as well, even 134340. I def missed her voice in BTS songs so I'm so happy she came back for SDL
Also the woman in Max's video is actually his wife and she was pregnant, they had a baby girl!💜 Max and his wife also learned Yoongi's verse in Korean! And the cat in the MV represents Yoongi, lol!
Yoongi rapping as the personification of music itself in Song Request always gets me. It’s not the first time he’s done this, the verse is a callback to his song “First Love” which I highly recommend listening to. It’s so beautiful
The song eight is most likely about IU's 2 friends who passed away by suicide. The dragon and lizard are animals that were commonly associated to them (Similar to how Suga is usually associated with a cat for example). So the song is about meeting her friends in her happy memory since she can't meet them in real life anymore. In the song she says she never wants to wake up but at the end of the MV she's awake, symbolizing that it's impossible to stay in the past and that she has to move on. I think it's worth listening to it again knowing this context :) Coincidentally, the following song UGH was about a similar topic - especially j-hope' verse calls out people's malicious comments towards celebrities, warning them that their one second of negative commentary can become a whole moment in another person's life, and that one's anger can take another one's life - most likely also referring to celebrities like IU's friends taking their own lives due to malicious comments among other things.
fun fact : yoongi produced "that that" and sent the beats to psy asking him if he was interested in collabing with him which psy replied with a yes right away. At first yoongi was just gonna produce the sond then psy convinced him to feature in it and later tricked him [in yoongi's own words"] into showing up on the music video and even made him do the choreo haha
Its worth listening to the explanation videos for Eight and UGH both. You don't have to react if you don't want to but you'll be blown away by both for different reasons and it will give you even further appreciation of their music/production/philosophy/lyricism. Cheers!
‘that that’ live is SUCH an experience lol. Psy did a massive festival show with thousands of people and yoongi showed up as a surprise and people FREAKED out. You gotta watch! Also highly recommend watching “ddaeng explained by a Korean.” There’s a lot of cultural context in this you probably didn’t understand :) it’s my favorite rapline song, the message is perfect
That’s my favorite thing about SUGA, he never shys away from talking about mental health and the battles he’s faced with his. He helps normalise what some consider a taboo topic by putting himself out there. My full respect on that.
omg Tribe Loui discovers Rap Line songs exist!! Hehehe the 3 rappers have an arsenal of fire songs together you AREN'T READY!! I'm so excited for you to dive into them!
As a person who loves music, I really respect yoongi's range as a producer. Some producers stick to the same genre or beat and it's rare to see this kind of variability these days
i hope the interlude: shadow by suga won't be missed. that song left goosebumps and i swear you'l like it! also the way you reacted to UGH!yes that was all us indeed 😭😭😭
Yoongi and RM have both famously said that BTS was formed because of Epik High. If you listen to EH's discography and stories, you'll see why. All of BTS but especially Namjoon and Yoongi are so incredibly influenced by their message and style. They're very very deep lyrically. If you do decide to take on their discography, I wouldn't be mad :D
Yeah yoongi decided to become a Rapper after hearing their song "fly". I'm obsessed with the song too, it's on my playlist. I have a lot of respect for epik high.
The story with Psy slowly getting suga more and more involved from Just producing to Dancing in the Video and even him appearing at his concert during this song
Epik High and BTS's history is so rich, it's always amazing when these two teams work together or talk about the other. You'll find a lot of crossover in fans with them (especially army who bias rapline). For some extra info, Tablo worked on Song Request and when So-Ra asked for a feature, Tablo recommended Yoongi - I believe they hadn't even met at that point, so imagine how massive it must how been for Yoongi to be rec'd by one of his biggest inspirations??? Epik High even have a song they made inspired by the BTS boys called "Lost One", in which Epik High gives advice to the team. It came out in 2017, which was the year BTS won their first Billboard award. Yoongi has spoken about this time since and how he was terrified and they had no-one to go to about it from their country who'd done it before. You'd love Epik High. Their lyrics are incredible and the team is absolutely hilarious together.
21:30 they actually did make yoongi's verse their wedding vow! learned to say it in korean too, and even named yoongi as their child's godfather... that's two celebrities who have given yoongi uncle status in their kid's eyes (max, then halsey❤)
I respect you waiting for the (doolset lol) translations! Esp with this album and yoongi being yoongi, there are lyrics in the songs that are really complicated so the translations out are very rough (stated by the translators themselves too)
The song with IU (eight) is part of her series where she makes a song for each year of her life. 8ight was for 28 and it is presumably about the... "early d****" of her best friends - also in the kpop industry. Watching again today makes me cry all over again. People...please be kind to each other. Words are a weapon. The 8 can turn to be an infinity symbol which symbolizes how she will forever remember them and how they are eternal in her memories. The lizard is a representative of one of her friends and he becomes the dragon in their memories.
The one girl in the backing vocals on seesaw is ADORA, she was part of the production team of big hit and has participed in a lot of bts songs, she made her debut last year but she is still working with them from time to time, since she is part of vocals in the d-day album, her voice is so beautiful, I love when she is singing in the background
This is why we call him a genius he can flow on any beat and the variety of music he produces is crazy. Each song has a story behind it but the one for Eight and That That are the most interesting. For Eight IU has been one of the top female artists in Korea for about 10 years and is the same age as Suga. She wanted to do a song about turning 28 and as he was also turning 28 they worked on it together. The Mv seems to have many visual references which we speculate refer to the passing of two of her closest friends (both kpop stars that tragically took their own lives) and the lizard and the girl, IU would be the girl watching from the plane as they fly off without her and she has to come to terms with going on in her life without them thus her tears. That she trusted him with such a poignant important song says a lot and he absolutely delivered. That is just hilarious in contrast. Suga wrote the hook decided it was ridiculous for anyone but Psy so cold called him (they didn’t know each other although Psy had hung out with other members of BTS like Taehyung/V) and said “hey want a song?” Psy was floored because everyone wants a Suga song he’s the “hands of Midas”, but he was only supposed to produce it but Psy tricked him into featuring then being in the MV then learning the choreography (apparently like he can’t say no to his boss BangPD he can’t say no to Psy). BTS truly is overflowing with both talent and 7 people who have insane work ethics and creativity. Ugh is an absolute banger and putting all 3 rappers on a song is deadly 😂 the live went so hard Taehyung and JK basically lost it (ok mostly Tae) when they were watching the 3 do a rehearsal. They have also famously lost it listening to the 3 practice the Cyphers, Ddaeng, and Seesaw so really no one stans BTs as hard as the members hype and are truly obsessed fans of each other’s songs (it’s the most hilarious run BTs like chaotic wholesome thing). Also there is speculation at least one line in Ugh is referring to hate kpop stars (or anyone who gets cyber bullied) got that caused them to take their own life and how angry it makes BTS. Mental health is pretty much the core of BTS music and especially Suga who studies psychology in his spare time.
What you need to know about That That is that there is a dance practice and live performance when SUGA joined PSY on stage and it was crazy. Also JK from BTS is still dancing it randomly :D
hahaha, in my case it's impossible for me to listen to the music of any of the members and fully enjoy it without the lyrics. It's always better when you know what they are saying to the world. But sometimes the content is recent like D-Day and there's not good translations. 😢
In the Blueberry Eyes song, that’s actually Max’s wife, who was pregnant at the time. So sweet! Also the cat in the video was meant to represent Suga. 💜
Loui I really hope you react to DKDKTV's explanations for the songs Eight (with IU) and Ugh because both songs are way more than what a non-Korean can pick up from just reading the lyrics. also that dancing wolf had me howling
if you pay attention to the lyrics of eight you'd know it's a tragic song iu is definitely talking about the idol friends she'd lost to suicide ( it's a nightmare i don't want to wake up forever ). the lizard suddenly disappears and meets her again among the clouds as a dragon as she watches with tears in her eyes. this feels even heavier now after moonbin's passing recently i was sobbing the whole time. rip angels 💔
Heard Suga say he was expecting to produce a collaboration with PSY and his contribution kept getting bigger. Well I am pleased because that's so much fun.
so the rap line has the 3 rappers and the vocal line has the 4 vocalists! when a song features the 'rap line' it'll have the 3 of them and the same with the vocal line, there are quite a few songs in the various albums like UGH!
Will you have a rap line week?????? I CANT WAIT 🎉 Please, please watch the live performance versions of Seesaw, Ugh, That That, and Respect. You were right it was killing me not knowing if you would or not! 😂 The live performances add another layer to everything. I hope you get a chance to.
Yes bts songs includes all ot7( all 7 members) songs, subunit songs with 2,3,4 members, rapline songs (jhope rm suga) , vocal line songs (jin jk v jimin) and solo songs of members too. Dont forget to watch explaination videos! And live performances of all songs too u are missing a lot if u dont watch live performances!!!!
omg Ugh reaction was so unexpected LMAOOOOOOOO i'm dying i'm really waiting for Shadow reaction though, hand's down one of the best Suga solo songs, it has MV too
I did not expect Ugh to show up just yet! What a pleasant surprise! 🤣 I was gonna suggest that you do a BTS rapline week after Suga's week since you would be done w/ each of their weeks, but I can't wait for you to get to BTS as a whole. I'm looking forward to D-Day's reaction & then which mbr is up next. I love it here! Lol 💜
Me too i never subscribe to reactors but he made me do it.i have fun watching with him the runbts contents and also listening the precious music of our boys.
Eight" follows IU's previous singles "Twenty-three" (2015) and "Palette" (2017) which together comprise her "coming-of-age" series. The song's title derives from the last digit of the Korean age "twenty-eight" of both IU and SUGA. Some think it’s also about her two dear friends Jonghyun from SHINee and Sulli who both took their lives . That’s why she’s sad at the end - that dream sequence is over and the reality is she is alone without them.
It's important to watch UGH Explanation videos (DKDKTV has a VERY good one) to really get the FULL MEANING of it. It's deep! It's not simple rage -- they are AGAINST unnecessary, malicious rage! they are ANGRY at the stupid Anger that hurts others and the Anger that is wasteful which buries the justified anger that can actually change the world. Also, PLEASE WATCH THE STAGE PERFORMANCE FOR UGH! There's only ONE live performance of it at their Online Concert! UGH IS FIREEEEE!!!!!!!
Song Request always gets me in the feels. It’s such a “looking out the bus window when it rains Otw home at night after work” type of song. The way suga becomes the personification of music is such an beautiful and emotional take. I absolutely love Lee Sora, her voice and lyrics has the sentiments to bring you back in time 🕰️
Seesaw is one of my favourite songs ever. It gave me the strength to end my toxic relationship. It helped me acknowledge that we did love each other, but it just had to ens
11:55 - No cap, "Seesaw" is legit one of my favorite songs from Suga to date! This song is such a vibe and never fails to put the biggest smile on my face bc it's just that good! The female vocalist in the background, I believe, is Adora, who used to be an in-house producer for BigHit and is now pursuing a vocal career as a soloist. 39:45 - If you enjoy EpikHigh's style of music, I would highly recommend checking them out. Their entire discography is insanely good! A personal fave of mine is "End of the World" (and the rest of the songs from that album, tbh). 46:35 - 🤭🤭Omg... you haven't heard Outro: Tear yet? DUDE! You need to listen to that song! It is so effing emotional. I'm sure ARMY will also let you know the context of that song when you react to it, but yeah, that rapline song is intense AF. 47:50 - I don't think I have ever listened to this song! Thank you so much for introducing a new Suga song for me! I really hope you enjoy Agust D's new album; lowkey, it's kinda a masterpiece. 💜
our translators on twitter said the songs on D-Day are very complex, so translation is taking longer than usual 😭. I don't blame them at all, and I appreciate how dedicate they are, but yeah, we're just gonna have to wait a bit longer to get the full brunt of it 😭
IU’s eight (written composed by iu prod and dear Suga) has been taken to Be about the suicides of fellow Artists Jonghyun (Shinee) goo hara and sulli…. This week anpthernidol Lost to suicide moonbin of Astro It makes jhopes verse in Ugh really hit 💜
Oh yeah 1st love is a treasure but maybe he will when he gets to bts albums.if he keeps listening for the whole album per video he will get to listen to it in no time.
I'd so glad you reacting to UGH! it's probably my all time favourite bts song and has such an important message that I've never really seen before. I can't wait for you go react to other bts rapline songs!!
Hey dude...WTH a dancing wolf?! 😂 man's was getting down to Ugh!! Yes there are Rap line songs & Vocal line songs! Check out the Cyphers!! 😊 not sure if you've heard of Dimple....RM wrote it about his dimples for the vocal line to sing! Epic! The song is SEXY...Got to see live performance!
30:28 it’s actually about the loss of her three friends who were also kpop artists, but passed away (all due to taking their own lives). The dragon and lizard representing Jonghyun (he was often compared to lizards and dragons), the girl in white in the animation is Sulli but also Goo Hara. Tbh it’s crazy that you put this out now because unfortunately on the 19th of April Moonbin of Astro was found dead in his apartment by his manager. All of the bts members are best friends with his band member, Cha Eunwoo, so they’re most likely mourning his death at the moment along with the rest of the idol industry ☹️
Seesaw live is a whole other experience. My concert outfit is inspired by it because I’m trying to manifest him performing it when I see him soon 😂😂 So glad you checked out Respect and All Night and a rapline song! You do an awesome job of taking requests 😊
Thank you for these reactions!💜 Oh and I freakin love the whispered "Suga", I hope he continues to do that in all his collabs! P.s here's a better translation(And not such a simplified version lol) of Yoongi's verse. Suga - "Hey, did you forget what I do?" Psy - That that I like that (Like that) Suga - "Even if time passes nothing changes" Psy - That that I like that (Like that) Suga - "I don't care I don't care that I like that" Psy - That that I like that (Like that) Suga "To everyone I’ve been looking to and longing for Everyone Ready set go What didn’t kill me made me stronger Those who hit me must be feeling uncomfortable All the people who raised an offering hoping that we’d fail exactly how they wanted Gather them round and give them a light smack That’s enough Oh oh oh Just shut up and let’s have fun together Oh oh oh Min Yoongi and Park JaeSang(Psy's real name)"
i suggest you listen to bts's life goes on! d-day's final track is yoongi's rendition of that song (and i believe the version he submitted when the Be album was being made that was ultimately turned down, so he saved it for himself) and the contrast is beautiful
Song Request is my favorite collab among all the collabs BTS made. Maybe because I was raised on a household where radio was always playing on the background, maybe because I love The Carpenters and this song reminds me of them, maybe because Yoongi giving voice to music is my favorite kind of Yoongi (I can't remember if you already checked First Love). But it's a beautiful song
Mm I don't know much about it, but I read some time ago that the music video of eight it's dedicated to two friends of Iu(both being idols in the industry) who pass away some time ago, the girl and the lizzard/dragon are their animated versions, that's why when Iu is looking from the window in the plane, she is crying, bc she is letting her friends go, the lyrics are also pretty direct if you think about it that way :( feel free to correct me if I'm wrong in something
The whiplash I know you had going from UGH to Song Request! Thank you for taking the time to react to all 10 of these songs, because they really are wonderful and show the range of Yoongi's musical talents and interests. He and RM were deeply influenced by Epik High (His Suchwita with TABLO of the group is fantastic. TABLO also wrote Song Request and recommended SUGA as the feature to Lee Sora). I'm only just learning more about Epik High, and their music, lyrics, and messages are so good. I can definitely see the influence throughout RM, SUGA, and BTS's discography now.
The girl in the background 11:53 is ADORA -- she worked as a producer in the production team when she first joined the company and produced quite a number of amazing BTS songs while lending some background vocals. She has now joined another label and this time as a vocalist herself. She also did some background vocals for 2 of Yoongi's songs in D-Day: SDL and Life Goes On! She sounds amazing.
One of the thing I love a lot about your reactions other than you react true and honestly is that you maximise your screen and background for the viewers💜
Casually stumbling upon the rapline 😂 So many good rapline songs! But just a heads up, there's vocal line only songs too and songs with different duo or trios. Back to Suga, I hope you listen to Suga's Interlude. I love his friendship with Halsey.
Normally for new releases we get translations on Twitter in like 20 to 30 minutes for one song. Our Army translators work wonders. More in depth takes about a week or two. I usually take a group and compare them to land somewhere in the middle bc they tend to vary in the details
