What’s so beautiful about watching horses forced into very painful and uncomfortable positions by these horrible people? I can’t believe most if not all of these things still happen today...
This is the history of Dressage, like it or not. You were so busy judging and bitching about what they were doing, that you completely missed the point. This was the original, very start of Dressage. The only thing not still done is the Aires work, because today's horses are so lightweight and thin in the bones, that they lack the strength and intelligence to master those movements. Next time, pay actual attention to the horses themselves, their gaits, the headsets of which are no different than today's dressage horses. Many things have been improved upon by today's standards.. So stop judging and start paying more attention to the history and beauty of it. And understand this: If those Lippazans that were stolen during WWII, and destroyed like Hitler ordered, where would your Dressage be today? Our American soldiers risked their lives to invade and rescue these beautiful horses, with Patton's orders. The Spanish Riding School was so grateful, they put on a special performance for all the soldiers who were there. Walt Disney made a movie on it, "Miracle of the White Stallions" in case you need a refresher course.
Beautiful and did anyone see that reinback I have not seen one like that for many years. Today dressage riders are all about show not elevating the movement of the horse This is years of slow careful training with both horse and rider. Wonderful if only this level of partnership would be present at the olympics oh boy what a joy
Our mentor Schmit Jensen was at the SRS with Chief Rider Herold and met Meixner and knew Polack and Lindenbauer ~ this was an era of superb horsemanship ~ as can be seen in this video all this knowledge is all but lost bar a few classical scholars who try to keep it alive
As the oldest still living prof rider and former student of Col Georg Wahl i must say, what a mess, this video should be prefaced as not what the SRS really should be doing. Attention Col Armand Schuster de Ballwil, Rittmeisters Jan Maiburg and Carel Eijkenaar
What happened to the movie Florian. Iwatch it as a kid and would love to see it again. It had an influence on my life and I trained and competed sucessfully in dressage.
The rider at 2:20 has a stiff back which must be horrible for the horse.- Using spurs is mean - the horses probably hate them..-- The horses would certainly prefer to be taken out for a ride in the open air from time to time and additionally go on pasture. - I would have appreciated to see their stables and the other places of residence.
Uh, no. This is the Spanish Riding School, which has been around for, oh, four hundred years or so. Go read Wikipedia if you want to know how very different their training is from what they do in circuses.
@BPD D2L okay because it is ''culture'' then it is fine to have max tension on the curb rein? I feel sick. And it is still the same snobbish culture show.
No abuse here ,understanding between horse and rider, there's plenty of horse abuse , racing industry , kids pets, but no abuse here, in the beginning stages of riding rider accompanies the horse in the middle stages horse and rider accompany each other, in the final stages of riding the horse accompanies the rider
@@paulschmidtke425 it depends at what kind of eyes you use to look at this. Rollkur has beeb a part of the training, horses here is hyperflexed with hanging backs like all other dressage horses. And this is NOT a noce way for a horse to move him self. And because The Spanish Ridingschool are culture, peolpe get blind.
@@vibeskouenborg6842 hi vibe , had never heard of rollout, had to google it ,and utterly condem it ,barbarism,, head carriage is something that comes from the hands and mouth of the horse ,in fact horses will stretch their necks out to seek contact with the bit when the reins are dropped,if all things are done right, I find it hard to believe the Spanish riding school would take such shortcuts, thanks for your information
