Philomena Begley, Ireland's queen of country music, has recorded a song about her friend Billie Jo Spears, who passed away in December 2011. After numerous tours and a friendship going back over 30 years, Philomena recorded this moving tribute for Billie Jo's Memorial Service held in Texas in January. After numerous requests for the song and with the encouragement of Billie Jo's family, UK country music label H&H Music release the single and video, in Ireland, England and the USA. Billie Jo (in UK & USA) and Philomena (in Ireland) both had big hits with Blanket On The Ground. Other songs associated with Billie Jo include What I've Got In Mind and 57 Chevrolet.

It's always hard to describe great legends...but Billie Jo is certrainly one on them.This is a very beautiful tribute.Billie Jo was incredibly beautiful and talented woman,and my very top favourite songs will always be '' Blanket on the ground'' and '' What I've got in mind'' . I really liked this song and thank you so much for sharing.

I love Billie Jo Spears voice and music style, she is a huge loss but whilst she was here, what an assett she was to the world. I have a friend like that one you sing about, She is also gone, Ivy Sommerfield, she was killed in a car crash. RIP both ladies of country and great friends to certain people. Like you and me. Thanks for that beaur song. xo

What a heartwarming, yet sad tribute to one of the best female country singers ever. I had no idea that Billie had died until recently. If my memory serves me right, Billie was support act for Buck Owens when he played the London Palladium back in the 60's. Sadly, due to the passing of time I don't recall a thing about the show. Ann Robinson of 'Weakest Link' fame was a big Bilie Joe fan and when she had a programme on BBC2 way back she would often open her programme with one of her records.

I Fronted and played Bass Guitar for BJ for 3 years. She was one of a kind, Never met Philomena, but great job on the Tribute. I have a copy of the Entire show we did in 1979 @ The Lone Star Cafe in NYC. I was with her fronting her Band "Tennessee Mash" in England as shown on the You tube video from The Wembley Festival where Blanket on the Ground was performed... Miss Her, ,Wayne Anderson

Billie Joe Spears was a huge female artist in the USA in the 1970's. I loved her music. I believe her Mega, Mega Hit "Blanket on the Ground" was No. 1 in the USA for several weeks! I loved her!
