i want to join the legion to find fulfillment, a sense of duty and purpose, and because it is something i will never regret doing. i want to look back when i'm old and think of the hell i had to go through to earn the kepi blanc, and even more hell that i'd go through in a regiment. i want to look back and think i went to hell and back, and i'm a better person because of it, and i made unforgettable friends and memories. VIVA LA LEGION!!
i am going to the FFL the moment i turn 18 and im going to go for the 2nd REP! they're the toughest, most hardcore people IN THE FUCKING WORLD! no US ranger could come close, not even an airborne ranger... i want to be part of the brotherhood of the FFL, it's something you can ruly say you are or were a part of!
i want to join the legion, i have my heart and mind set on it. i want to join the legion because if i can get thorugh the legion, i will be proud of it for the rest of my life, and if i can survive the legion nothing in my life will ever stand in my way! i want to be the best of the very best, A LEGIONNAIRE!! LEGIO PATRIA NOSTRA!

You will learn french along the way, people come from all around the world and most of them have had 0 exposure to french before, but they learn it eventually.
If you don't like cold weather you should try to enlist in spring. I'm a Finn so the cold weather did'nt bother me. I also had officer training in Finland, so the military background is always good. Served 1990-1995.
i new this guy CAPITAIN RICHARD COPPER wen i was a kid he was legion and then SOE ww2 , that was my inspiration to join , they quiet nice chaps , be your self no Dreamers , it is real they are a real tough bunch of chaps , from all around the world , no mess about , it is the ut nuters party and wankers and dreams want to be soon find there real iner self
Don't, that is the point... Haha, no just be straight up about it. Seeing that a few years have passed, I wonder where you life sailed you to and how everything went. I'd love to hear a goos story! ;)
It's a great thing i think, that will be a legioner.I want to join, and it's very close i think, because my life is going to wrong way now.Respect to every legioner!
@infantrypfc okok man, i can go anytime. end of june or end of july, yea that would be great to end up at selection together. im thinking of the legion recrutment in Aubange near Marseille. we keep up for the date to join the legion. take care man.
@infantrypfc damn man is good to know that there's a lot of people like me out there im working to save money and after i finish my studies ( 2 years or less ) and i have the money the very first thing im gonna do is go to the french foreign legion. I SEE YOU THERE BROTHERS !!!
french is taught to all who join except those that already know it to a good useable standard. Its obviously a little easier for those who already speak french.
study math ,fractions ,and simple english paragraph comp, and they will 100% accept you ! Legion wants smart people I know because it took my cousin 3 trys to get in . Thanks for wanting to serve in the future! GOOD LUCK
@FoxDiaz22 im thinking about joining later on in life. but first i will go in for the canadian infantry. after 3 years i want to join the FFL. what does the physical test look like? and i cant speak 1 word in french. will i have problems?
@zarathusa888 is that true man, teeth?? wow had no idea of that, but i have good teeth...what do you mean by bad teeth? so how was the sports tests, pretty hard? where did you enlist?
@MrRbn5 check out their website because it's very well run and you'll find all the information that you need there (legion-recrute), but please don't even try to join if you are not mentally and physically fit for it, I'm not a Legionnaire but the thought also crossed my mind to join them, still I have to fix some mental issues of my own (medium depressive symptom) and train hard for at least 1 year before going in for recruitment. Take Care and I hope you'll find what u need on the site
@qwidaa women can try to join it in theory but the selection is too hard even for the majority of men, that's why there are no women in Foreign Legion : the selection does the work. Women military are sometimes affected as officers but they are not "Légionnaires"
@Paul00hyeah Plus the latest soldier to win the Medal of Honor is the only living soldier that carries on the line of the Medals of Honor and he achieved it soon before the Super Bowl and was a VIP there. He was a Staff SGT. I think, not sure, if anyone else knows please correct me but he's the only one right now, and if I'm wrong someone please correct me. And most Medals of Honor are given to such brave deeds that most soldiers died during that deed. So get lost bro.
im looking to join this summer was hoping someone could tell be is there oppurtiny for real action in the five year contract i know years gone by there was pleanty but its all a bit quiet now
Although it is an asset it is not going to be a problem at all, they will give you a dictionary and pare you up with someone who speaks both languages. You will learn under the whip though and considering how french and English are similar they will expect you to learn fast. Orders will be given in french, you translator will help you out but learn FAST as you can.
@zarathusa888 ok man, im thinking to join too. i check my teeth on monday at the dentist, enlisted in paris, i think about Marseille, aubange. so are fixing your teeth and then join again?
You forget that operation overlord, "D-Day", strategicaly speaking, was a disaster. Almost everything went amiss, and was only successfull because of sheer numbers and luck. And leland 369, the USMC does NOT have the hardest trainning, not even in the US (that title goes to the Navy SEALs)and "The Crucible" would be a day at the beach for a legionaire. Do some research and dont be a zealot, both of you. Anyway, my respects to all military men and women.
@Asmodejsvk Go to google and type french foreign legion. You will find an information page. with all the information that you need to know before joining.
Totally agree, but then the training regime is the same, So that must obviously tell you that the French people dont have what it takes to be proper combat soldiers, Maybe there chefs are good though ;)
from various video testimonies of ex legion soldiers. first round of training is done in a normal base and failures are discharged but for second round they go into wilderness with no civilisation in a 80 kilometers radius in dangerous wilderness so only choice is to endure or walk away in which case if you are caught you are severly punished or if you manage to get away its probable you will die in the wild. Thats way some of them die or commit suicide. Its harder than seen in movies ;)
@UpTehCooch if your going to join the canadian army first, since canada is a bilingual country, the canadain forces offers french classes for free. but you have to make a decision if your going to go career then stay in the CF but its all personal prefrence, im going to go leagon first, they do teach french in the leagon but you better put all your effort into learning. As long as they see your french progressing they wont do anything to ya.
