My headmaster was the brother of Mr. Michael Robins. Such fun and laughter was had watching this talented Actor and co Stars back in the the days of Real proper Television.
@@michaelhenderson2812 that's interesting, his sister taught me English at one of the worst relegious schools in the area at that time, she was the only real teacher in the school, and I still praise her for unforgettable inspiration. I went onto become a writer and broadcaster, so she must have made an impression on me, Michael and his family were absolutely top people.
I can still remember the sketch from On the Buses when Olive and Arthur have gone to bed and Olive is pregnant, she’s having cravings so she’s eating out of a huge jar of pickled onions, suddenly the baby kicks and she asks Arthur if he wants to feel, he replies by saying “ He’s probably playing football with all them pickles” .....bloody classic.....still makes my cry with laughter.
For me Michael left a huge gap in On The Buses when he left the show. Arthur was my favourite character. My favourite Arthur line - "What a load of rot you do talk mate.," often said to Stan.
On the buses was good harmless fun, Arthur was a key character in it and the way his face twitched when his operation was mentioned (we never found what it was for) always made me laugh.
He had to have the operation because he was a ventriloquist dummy and they had to make the hole bigger underneath him so that the puppeteer could get his hand up there 😂😂😂😂✋🎄🏃🏃🏃🏃🌙
What unreal channel how up lifting to enjoy my childhood of all these people i laughed an enjoyed the show case of actors you brought back to life thankyou an you both are excellent people an respect you highly an enjoy the channel cheers i had a enjoyable upbrigging by the thanks of all the actors an remmeber them fondly 💯🇦🇺
Thankyou. How lovely 🥰 of you to give us this wonderful information of these stars. And they were. Our generation are the lucky ones. We got to experience comedy as it should be. Uncut. God bless you♥️
I remember olive saying to Arthur. I used to love your hair. Do you remember how I used to run my fingers through it. Cue Arthur. You always were heavy handed. Luv it 🤣😂🤣😂
@@fran-kittyayers5329 another one Stan says about the bus stop post it will take an elephant to lift that cue arthur then says olive grab that end lol 😆
RIP Michael, aka Arthur off On The Buses, a very funny man, who made us all laugh, his legacy will live on. Shame there is no grave or final resting place to visit and pay respects? 62 is no age at all, at 54 I'm shuddering thinking about that! At my age he only had 8 years left! 😮😔, he didn't even make retirement age! 😥
Like so many of our comedy greats. When one passes on I often think. I can't think of any present day comedians that could take their place. Different era now. Give me 70's comedy anyday ♥️💞
@@glengraham7080 Such a shame, there should be a screening program for that automatically when men hit 50 or so, just like there are cervical and breast cancer screening for women! Totally preventable with early treatment. In fact being a smoker doesn't automatically mean you'll develope cancer, sure it gives you a higher risk but I've worked with elderly guys in my job, who were heavy smokers, 60 a day and they've lived beyond 90, my own grandparents were both heavy smokers and lived to 79, my stepdad never smoked in his life and passed away at 64 just a year short of retiring! 😯😔😥
Arthur was probably my favourite character in On The Buses. He was brilliant in the episode "The New Nurse" when Olive became jealous of Arthur's new love interest, being their new Nurse lodger. As Arthur he had brilliant comedy timing. We loved those moments when he was just about to fill his mouth with a fork of food and just at that point Olive would say something dumb. One of my favourite episodes when they thought that Inspector Blake was ill and was going to die, Olive said...."I'd be very upset if I thought I was going to die." And just at that point Arthur looks at Olive in a wishful thinking mode. It was a priceless moment. Nothing today on tv makes me laugh as much as those great comedies.
@@missingcat9293 .......M. Cat, If they put On The Buses back on primetime in the evenings, it would be a winner. They're just so funny. Why oh why won't the main channels put on any comedy. As for the sit-com, there's no such thing anymore. All killed off by the pc/woke culture. Ah, you've got a couple of Nick Drake videos. He was quite an enigma. I have a BBC4 Documentary on him. Still haven't watched it yet. Must do soon.
@Captain Black You really summed up that character of Micheal Robins, no one could have fitted that part of Arfur Rudge better we have lost our way when it comes to making great comedy
I always remember Michael Robbins from On the Buses but on the show he was normally tight lipped or was wearing a semi-grimace, he actually had a lovely smile in real life.🌹
I was just a kid growing up in the 70's and I absolutely loved "On the buses". I still watch it daily on ITV3. Michael was a wonderful actor and a huge part of the shows success. I love the episode when the family believe that Ma has won a foreign holiday in a raffle, and Stan and Arthur are bickering with each other over who'll go with her. Stan: "Well I'm her son so I should go". Arthur: "Yes, but I'm her son-in-law, that means I've got the law on my side."
Brilliant tribute, thank you! I was looking for videos of Anna "Olive" Karen from On The Buses and I just realised I uploaded a clip of him with Peter Sellers in The Pink Panther Strikes Again (The Pavlova of the Parallels) and Michael was hilarious in that too eh? I wonder if he ever... you know... "did it" with Anna? Lucky man!
Remember watching these as a child with my dad,,he no longer is with us,,and watching these old comedy brings back so many memories,,these are classic comedy timeless,,just like steptoe and sons,,give anything to go back in time to spend an evening with my dad watching these,,,funny enough I am actually watching these again,,on daily motion,, Absolutely brilliant,,
He was great -l really enjoyed him in “ on the buses”he played a real important part of that show and I couldn’t wait to see him appear in the episode it was always worth the wait he was a classic-Thanks for the video!
Was a very good actor he made us laugh all the good actors are passing away one by one it’s very sad what can we do we’re getting old when it’s your time it’s your time God bless you
It's good that this channel exists...or we would never know what happened to all the funny and interesting people who has sadly past on and who have given us all much needed laughter....if there is a heaven these characters will have the boss in stitches...
Thanks for the memories, made me laugh so much, he owned the character Arthur..on the buses wouldn't have been the same without him, RIP Michael Robbins. Never forgotten..
Classic like from on the buses still gets me laughing...olive says Arthur are you coming to bed he looks up and says I do believe this floor needs another scrub....RIP MICHAEL ROBBINS...
One of the old ones when comedy was comedy without the need to shock with bad language.... Sadly, we cannot go back, but we can look back with much affection
He also used to say “I find it all very much”. I will forever be indebted to him for that as I don’t think I go a day or three without quoting this remark when something meets my displeasure. Bless him !
Back when people had a sense of humour and didn't. Take things to heart. Today the world is full of cranks. Cant say nothing anymore. or your labeled. One big big brother house now this planet
When you watch on the buses you see all the cast but sadly they have died. I watch on the buses every night absolutely Hillarious they should bring back the series the best comedy ever. May jack Arthur Stan @ Elthal Rest Internal Peace 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
I’m a new subscriber and I just wanted to say the way you show your tributes and respect to the actors and actresses that we love and miss is amazing I’m glad I subscribed working my way through your videos happy new year all the best for 2021 god bless
Yes , he normally called Olive a ' stupid great lump ' , but very occasionally when he was being affectionate ( for Arthur at least ) he would refer to her as ' Sunshine ' .
Lovely upload. I loved Michael he so cheered me up. Although he was mainly an actor to play a depressed part he was always always funny. Very sadly missed.
Radio 4xtra played a short series of a radio comedy he was in with Hugh Paddick. from the 70s I think I cannot remember the title but they were brothers who had to live together for a year to benefit from their mothers will It was brilliant. well acted and very funny
