I really like how every single other character understands that you can't just think to yourself in the world of the dead. But Sissel just never learns.

julia asked whether or not joy and olive are tuxedo tabbies and ig i immediately decided to go down a whole rabbit hole of learning what different cat colorings are called. the short answer is that tuxedo tabby is absolutely a fair way to describe the girls; anyone familiar with cats will know what you mean, and anyone who corrects you is being pedantic. The long answer is under the cut. Okay the first thing I learned is that there is not nearly as much standardization and formality in cat colors as there is in dogs (which is what I'm more used to), so I don't think there's really a "right" answer to this question. I found quite a few people on reddit arguing about whether or not a tabby with a white chest/belly etc could be called a tuxedo, and none of them referred to a formal source of any kind. There is no AKC equivalent for cats. There is the Cat Fanciers Association (CFA), which, according to wikipedia, is the world's largest registry of pedigreed cats, and there is The International Cat Association (TICA), which, according to it's own website, is the world's largest registry of pedigreed cats. The CFA was founded in 1906 and has a very limited internet presence, their main website is behind a log-in for some reason? But I was able to find a single pdf from them (which according to how it's sourced seems to be mostly a rehashing of a book called The Book of the Cat from 1980). Here's the link to that pdf: cfa.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/ColorsAbridged.pdf . TICA was founded in 1979 and has a functional website. Those are the main two resources I treated as authoritative. Second important note is that cat colorings are not the same as cat breeds; most pet cats in the US are domestic shorthairs, which is a breed recognized by both the CFA and TICA. Some colorings are more common in some breeds and some breeds are always a certain coloring, but since we're mostly talking about domestic shorthairs if we're having this conversation as hobbyists, we can ignore breed when we talk about coloring. If you do your research about cat colorings on reddit, you will see tabbies casually referred to as "standard issue cats." Turns out, the reason for this is because that is the genetic norm for the species of cats that is domestic in the US. That pdf from the CFA I linked above might explain it a bit better, but basically anything outside of solid tabby is caused by genetic mutation. More specifically, the most genetically standard form of tabby is called a classic (or splotched) tabby; this is the kind with stripes that swirl and twist a bit. Other forms of tabby include the mackerel tabby, which is the kind with straight up-and-down stripes, and the ticked tabby, which is the kind which really only has visible stripes on its feet. There are more; you can see examples of each type starting on slide 30 of the pdf linked above. From what I can tell, the tabby parts of Joy and Olive seem like classic tabby patterning. The term "tuxedo" doesn't seem to be used by formal organizations. As far as I can tell, there are two main reasons for this: first, because the white area on what people call a tuxedo cat can vary a lot and doesn't have a shape or size that seems to genetically repeat with any consistency, and second, because the term was coined to refer to black and white cats specifically but the white frequently occurs in cats of a wide range of colorings (look up tuxedo torties and tuxedo calicos, they are lovely). So formal organizations refer to cats by the number of colors on them, not the shape/placement of those colors (with the exception of colorpoint cats, ie siamese, because on those cats there is a genetic component that puts the coloring specifically on the face, feet, and tail. (siamese is the breed, not the name of the coloring, but siamese is more widely known so i used it here to be clear lol.).) Anyway! So what do these orgs call cats with multiple colors? The CFA uses piebald for white with another color, bicolor for two colors, and tricolor for three colors. TICA uses particolor for any cat with multiple colors. I should clarify: in this context, tabby is a color, as is tortoiseshell. It feels a bit weird since those are patterns are multiple colors, but if the cat was fully that pattern (without white) it would not be considered piebald/particolor. So, all that to say, in formal terminology, Olive and Joy are particolor classic tabbies. But again, in formal terminology, there's no such thing as a tuxedo cat, so there's no reason to say that they can't be tuxedos as well. If you go on the subreddit for tuxedo cats, there's several examples of people posting tuxedo tabbies, asking if they count and wanting to join in the fun. There's always someone in the comments saying that no, tuxedos have to be black and white, but there are also always several people in the comments welcoming OP, praising their beautiful cat, and talking about whether this cat might be sporting a leisure suit, a cardigan, or some sort of shirtwaist and shorts. anyway. sorry to write an essay in such a quiet comment section but i got excited and wanted to share :) also thanks as always for another fun stream
their "yona burger" convo reminded me of when I was studying in Japan and my other American classmates and I tried to explain how "did you eat" became "d'jeet" to my professor and he got very distressed
Just wanted to say, watching the ghost trick vods every Wednesday in my hour and a half bus ride home from school has been one of the little routines that keep me grounded in a very weird time of my life, and I dont know what I'll do when they finish the game. I love this game but mostly I love the dynamic between Jacob and Julia and I'm so glad to know not everyone is a little shit like the people I have to deal with irl all day. Secret sleepover is so precious to me.
during one of the ad breaks, it was refreshing to hear them talk about food and deciding not to buy something because it didn't have ENOUGH calories in it. you usually hear the opposite so much!
“When you read the Bible, it’s like he had a murder phase that he got over” It’s almost like the first testament and the second testament were written by totally different hundreds of years apart by dozens of different people.
@@mastermarkus5307oh my god that is incredibly niche but i understood the reference. those animations were actually how i learned a lot of bible stories being raised by two parents who left christianity long before i came into the picture
Wait holy smokes I didn’t realize there were subtitles on these vods. That’s genuinely super impressive an awesome, I’ve tried transcribing stuff and it’s so hard even for like 30 seconds. I can’t imagine doing it for 2 HOUR videos. Amazing work Kaz!!
Luckly for me there are tools that can make the job much faster, it still takes a couple days to finish them up but it's nowhere near as unattainable as it used to be just a year ago. -Khaztaroth
I think if I was in the club and a ghost tricked my girl, I would go "Huh? What was that? ... Must've been the wind." And then go back to what I was doing before and immediately forget that anything unusual happened
it took me So many tries to figure out the bullet swap trick when i played that i eventually had to look up the solution. i’m so pissed that they got it first try LMAO
I am SO disappointed they didn't try the hardhat first, one of the funniest goddamn moments in the game, and I *know* Julia would have loved it given her unreasonable hatred of Cabanela. EDIT: By the way, given that Ghost Trick is a Capcom game, it's likely that the prison clothes looking exactly like those used for Cody in Street Fighter is intentional, given that they're pretty distinct (the thickness of the bars and the blue instead of black are pretty much unique to characters in Capcom games).
Thank you so much for this comment because I immediately looked it up and watched it a few times in a row because the animation of the impact was just *hilarious!* 😂
Your kitties might be Torbies. One of mine was, and it took a while for me to identify her. Her littermate was a tuxedo, black and white, so maybe they are hereditarily related patterns.
Torbies are both tortoiseshells and tabbys. Each of these traits (one coloration the other pattern type) are separate from white spotting (aka the amount of white on their body). In fact white covers up any initial color that would have been seen without it. For example a female cat that is completely white could have tortoiseshell kittens, black kittens, or red kitten's depending on the sire's genetics. I would also personally say that Joy and Olive are just brown tabbies though I can't say for sure, One looks to have some red coloration on her face. I can't tell which I'm a fake fan sorry! Tuxedo is just a name for a certain type of white spotting often on bellies, chests and paws, some people consider cats of any color to be tuxedo and others to black and white. Ultimately it's just a matter of opinion for that but I personally only consider black and white cats because of the name tuxedo itself. Thank you for coming to my cat genetics TEDtalk! Lol I talked a little on the stream about it but yeah
I never expect it, but I should have--I learned about the parable of long spoons and the baldy who set two divine bears on crowd of rude children from these folks after all xD
1:29:25 - THANK YOUUUU, i felt like i was going mad with the friggin controls! Part of why I'm so psyched to see YOU play it, Jacob! Even better that you're GOOD at flying the ship! Yesss, thank you!
34:17 From what I've found, the producer's color pattern would be called piebald tabby! Piebald is an irregular patterning that usually causes big white patches, and while tuxedos and piebalds are similar, tuxedo cats are strictly bicolor black and white. Some people use piebald and tuxedo interchangeably, which is what caused the mixup!
The most fascinating theory I've heard is that the Abrahamic God is actually a combination of two previous Canaanite gods. The channel Esoterica has a fantastic documentary about it
I don't know if he's a combination of two specifically, but I know that even the Bible itself has references to there being multiple gods, such as in Genesis, with lines like "let us make man in our own image". I've heard about Yahweh possibly being a war god and that he's sometimes traditionally called "Elohim" in Hebrew, which originates from the name father of the canaanite gods, El.
how can cabanella be considered to have a perfect spotless record when in one of the first cases he ever worked he essentially gave his gun to the suspect?
It is mentioned that the only person who knew of this mistake is Jowd. So Cabanela created the facade and image of having a spotless record to the public as a way to help Jowd. He never had a spotless record but he never made a mistake ever again as a way to maintain said image and to rise the ranks.
1:15:35 I’m from Georgia but I’ve never been up there at most of the mountains, but that’s a damn good catchphrase and would definitely make me eat a burger at that place.
I am SO EXCITED for outer wilds, I tried to play it but unfortunately a lot of the planets severely triggered my claustrophobia to the point of hyperventilating so I had to quit only like 6 hours in, but I only ever hear about how incredible the story is and I’ve ALWAYS wanted to experience it
If you're still trying to figure out what kind of coloring Joy and Olive have, they're bicolor classic tabbies! The classic tabby patterning is also known as blotched tabby.
I legit just looked up coat patterns yesterday XD I think they might have too much white to be tuxedos. I'm no expert but I think "mask-and-mantle" might be more fitting
He's not brought back to life. It's just that another Trunks that had already gone back and went through the Cell saga ended up killing Cell before he could go back in time. That Trunks then has the Super future arc happen
Still wishing Twitch would make a watch-only app for Roku. Then at least I could tune in live, even if I couldn't chat (which I don't really do anyway).
from wikepedia "A tuxedo cat, or Felix cat or Julius cat is a bicolor cat with low grade white spotting (generally close to 25% white) in the coat. The term "tuxedo cats" is typically used for black-and-white colored cats, but tuxedo patterned cats come in all cat colors."
Trunks was killed by having his ribs pierced by Cell's attack, just like Jesus with the spear. He then came back from the dead, just like Jesus. Also, he is famously associated with his sword, which is cross shaped. Like Jesus.
Cell did kill Trunks, but the thing about Dragon Ball is they have these wish granting orbs that can bring the dead back to life. I forget what they're called.
Julia discussing Wilhemena and Ulrika from Dragons Dogma 2?? 🙏 Yes please. Wilhemena is everything, she can call on my Arisen to do anything and she'll say yes. No spoilers, but I loved our girls night during her quest. 🤣 Ulrika... I don't like you like that. We are just friends. Everything I did was for the village. Here is a chaste hug and a request to not come to my house anymore. Please.
oh man i missed the stream where my cat genetics knowledge would've come in handy... i'd describe both girls as black classic tabby bicolors in "proper" genetics terms! but most people won't know what the hell you mean by that and will know what you mean if you say tuxedo tabby, plus it accurately describes their colors, so there's nothing wrong with julia's description of them imo, especially if talking with people who aren't cat color nerds. black tabbies are usually called brown tabbies because they look brown, but genetically are the same as a black cat + a tabby gene. my tip is to look at the color of a tabby's stripes to determine their real color! classic tabby is their tabby pattern (the swirls/bulls-eyes on their sides, as opposed to stripes or spots), so someone saying classic tabby in chat wasn't a joke, it's a real name for patterning haha. there's a lot of ways to describe cats with white (bicolor, piebald, literally just "with white") and i see bicolor used for cats whose bodies are roughly half white and half another color like the girls. tuxedo is a common name for black bicolors but really i don't see harm in using it for tabbies or other colors, people will know what you mean and all the official recognized cat genetics language is pedantic and convoluted anyway lol tldr let julia cook she's right
Look, yeah pawns in DD2 are dumb... but honestly, NPCs aren't much better. There was a very glum looking noble in some house. He looked sad but pretty, said some depressing shit and I gave him a bouquet of flowers. He veeeeery slowly got up from the chair he was sitting in, waited a second, then raised both arms into the air and shouted "HUZZAH!" in celebration of receiving this gift. There was no further interaction. He just as slowly sat back down. Game of the year.
I have to admit I did read the thumbnail as "shown me new ways to do men" instead of "to do me in" WHOOPS (I guess with the way they react to the rock container coming from the floor and all the jowd/cabanela comments it isn't too far from the truth)
With Jacob talking about surprised lack of drop-off, I'm just like I'm here for the goofs and jabs of J&J but I'm also surprised cause I've played some of this game on my own and god it's just way too dialogue heavy, it gets so heavy and boring at times 😂
Your cats are marbled! Certainly Olive is, that’s a marbled pattern on her for SURE. Not really a tabby I don’t think. Tabbys are more tiger-striped I think. My girl Sophie is a marbled part-bengal wif a widdwe tabby face and one of her sons is a tabby.
I think your cats fit in the general category of "bicolor tabby" but I think they might also be a sub-category of that called "cap and saddle" but there seems to be some disagreement about what exactly qualifies 🙄
So frustrated. 1:47:22 I skipped a few livestreams and VODS because I was so sick and tired of watching Lynne die and be rescued and are you kidding me?! I casually was listening to this episode while enjoying my delicious dinner after a long day and then we got to this nonsense, again!! I hope there’s a Ghost Trick 2: The Unkillable Lynne & Missile
Good chance you skipped all the ones where the dead person is someone other than Lynne, and landed back here when it's her again :P That's kinda funny :)
@@Poldovico I did deserve that! Never, ever, skip a SSS stream! I ended up watching them out of order to attempt appeasing my desire of a single Zero-Lynne death sequence episode 😆 Boyoooo that was a journey! Still stand by my frustrated statement though! Lynne is just attracted to danger her entire life! Just dodge & hit, Lynne. Dodge & hit.
I wouldn't skip the Bloodborne, but Julia ONLY using the saw cleaver legit made me not want to watch it. 1. Because it's disappointing to see someone not try out all the cool weapons in the game. 2. Watching fights with the saw cleaver is literally more boring than with most other weapons because it has a very visually uninteresting moveset.
