I’m glad that Scary Godmother has become a cultural tradition for Halloween. They’re such bizarre movies.

So one of the origins of the poisoned/tampered Halloween candy is the case of Ronald Clark O'Bryan who laced a bunch of pixie sticks to kill his own kids for insurance payment and tried to cover it up by giving out laced candies to kids to make it look like someone else was responsible. I think there are plenty of true crime series and stories that cover the case if you look for the guy's name or The Candy man.

This was the first commentary track that I listened to in time with the movie. It was a wonderful experience. Tricks certainly did attack the Treats.

I glad that, no matter the pondering, they always spend half a hour talking about just the general theme. Its cool, beacause it shows that the movie really did make them think about past experieces, that kind of is one good thing about movies.

I caught this movie at like 11pm on TV in the middle of July a couple years ago, and it put me into the halloween mood instantly despite all that. It's so good at just being a Halloween movie.

Holy smokes, I just watched this for the first time in full last night with my partner. The Achilles Tendon scene traumatized me as a kid and I never knew the name of the movie, so this has been weirdly cathartic to watch and listen to.

I will say the no signal still works. I kind of hate the hillbilly town trope with no signal because it’s just my hometown 😂 I lived in a swamp most my life. I shit you not I watched Pumpkinhead last night with my husband who’d never seen it and he said ‘this is just our hometown but more people’ when the old witch came on screen he was just like ‘we literally have a bog witch as their HOA, well I guess it’s better than the usual gator or Florida man joke’ he ended it with ‘I bet they still have better signal in the fucking fruit stand than the college’ referring to our alma matter. Also every time they have ‘unidentified dirty rural people’ my husband always says ‘ah yes we come from a long time of distinguished turd farmers’

Candy weapon? A good ol' titanic lollipop called Choppa Chopps (if you know you know). Also! Speaking of candies, have ya folks thought of doing "taste testing" series of sweets, beverages, etc? Could even call Picking Sugary Treats.

I’m pumped you guys covered this one. I always walked past it at Blockbuster when video rental stores were still a thing. I shopped based on cover art and Sam didn’t stand out to me. I’m glad I got proven wrong. I finally gave it a chance on streaming years ago and it’s become a staple of my Halloween season rotation. It’s a modern classic. One of the best crafted anthologies out there. To top it off it has one of my favorite werewolf transformation scenes in all of media. It’s just barely a second to ‘An American Werewolf in London’. This movie kicks ass, thanks again for pondering it.

The essence of Halloween attacks the town.

The candy scare rooted partially in that a father, Ronald Clark O'Bryan, poisoned his own son with cyanide in pixie sticks and tried to point blame that someone else poisoned the candy. Police figured out it was him because the guy had put a dozen life insurance policies on his kid worth a total of a million buckaroos. The fentanyl case tho is a lot sadder, as the kid accidentally ingested some fentanyl that was left out as the parent iirc was selling the stuff and when it happen the parent sprinkled the fentanyl on the kid's candy to try and coverup they had been selling it and had it easily accessible for a child to accidentally grab and consume it.

Regarding coconut chocolate, we have Bounty over here in the UK. It's kinda niche relative to Snickers or Dairy Milk, since not everyone likes coconut. Same goes for the little blue "Coconut Eclair" in collections of Quality Street; those tend to be the last ones that people go for. Also, I'm not surprised that Twin Bing stouts are real, since I've tasted my fair share of dessert stouts. For instance, Neon Raptor's "Centaur Army" is like a stout version of a peanut butter cup a'la Reese's, and it's fucking LUSH. I used to not enjoy most beers, but I now realize that I enjoy dessert stouts (and stouts in general), and while I don't like most sours, I enjoy pastry sours and ice cream sours, since the lactose helps dial back the sourness just enough for the other flavours to come to the forefront. *_[spooky little boy cryptid attacks the heretics]_*
