This is a classic; for a reason! I wonder (thinking out loud) if this can be adapted to the 21st century; using an object that the current iPhone/Twitter/Netflix generation carries around. Like Playing Cards, coins are also becoming a bit obsolete and “peculiar” when a Magician pulls it out of a pocket.
My do or dont on tricks as a main rule is deception. How deceptive trick is. This is waaaaaay to low on that scale, Id never perform this. I know, theres probably a nice amount of ppl that would be fooled by this with proper presenation and cleaning, but no, no way that amount is big enough.
@@thecommonmagician yea, I dont do it often, but here and there when I do some of better imo tricks with the rubber bands I do ocasionally perform that also. Alstrough the best band trick I know is also a penetration, rubberband trough pencil or similar object so it doesent have much sense. But here and there ppl ask for it as they saw it somewhere they ask if I know it. I like it only, and ONLY for the phase with them holding one band. Im very, VERY picky about deception lvl. For example I would never EVER do a classic hindu force, imo thats waaaay to obvious. Especially when you can improve that also easily, let alone having gazzilion better forces. I buckle or pinky pull the lowest card, transfer it to a thumb break for a hindu, do the procedure and when they say stop I just kiss slightly the two parts ask them here? and in the process I leave the force card on top of the part you catually shuffled, where it needs to be, without discrepancie of shuffling from top and showing thze bottom. Or at times I just go infront with that part of the deck to leave it on table in front and while doing that I simply drop the force card on the part in left hands from some height while going over it. Its well covered, never had problems. Ppl are lazy imo, I KNOW hindu force does fly by pretty much above ninety percent of ppl, but why do it I cant understand. Its same as riffling the deck in the back to catch a break with your right thumb, crazyness, learn a damn pinky count, and even that some ppl dp so obviously bowing the deck corner. You bow the LOW part, you leave the top card from the start, just counting the second while holding fourth finger on top of the top card so it doesent jump when hit by the second card. If you miss and pull down in the start leaving two, great, you have the break. OI never EVER missed to leave three. Simple things, I wouldnt practice something for a year to make things like that better, same as you Im not a professional, but if it asks a simple improvements why not? Sorry for long post, I have no one actually to talk about magic beside the internet, you skip it if you like :D Trick like this are almost childish to me, Im actually really interested of how many percentage of ppl are actually fooled by that. But I bet there are also those who see whats going on but they dont say it. Id HATE that lol PS. If it came a bit harsh it aint my intention, you do you, no worries. @@igorsvacic217 fair enough. I asked about the CMH because I have noticed a fairly large, increasing group of magicians that avoid the trick on the assumption that it is too exposed and known. I was wondering if that was where you were coming from with the handkerchief trick. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
