I still love this track, the blend of the different style of vocalist each act as their own hook tied together with the instrumental... Tricky's raspy trip hop vocals, Hawkman's raspy reggae voice, and Ed's clean vocals... sure it's not cutting edge experimental stuff but just works
Totally agree. Over 20 years I rotate through several styles of music, but for some reason this song pops up and I HAVE to listen to it no matter what mood I'm in. Solid track from some very talented people.
Back then, I used to watch a lot MTV. You know, out of the many music videos they were showing a day, you often got at least one that stood out. This video was one of those, simply because the style was so unique. The song wasn't any different. The combination of both really impressed me, and still does today.
I actually remember this video being kind of a big deal when it came out. I watched it on whichever MTV was showing music videos at that point the day it premiered. Not intentionally, I was just watching videos that day, & happened to accidentally watch the premiere. Ever since this one has been one I've found myself going back to once a year or so & watching/listening to for a few days.
I've been looking for this tune so long...only remember those white top tanks in video. After all these years I've found it by accident. It was worth waiting.
First time I heard this song, I had fallen asleep with the radio on. I woke up in the middle of the night to hear this creepy beat with Tricky's scary ass whispering shit at me. I was terrified. and then I saw the music video.
That last shot of them walking in different directions gave me chills! this is about coming together over tremendous odds and differences and making the future happen and making good happen.
Same dude! I’m so glad I’m not the only one. He has so many tracks I love indeed. But the ones less positive not so much! But atleast it’s not Portishead. They unfortunately have way too many less positive ones. I love Massive Attack and Tricky. Both are so damn good!
I remember seeing this video when I was like 8 years old in 2000 on MTV after hours, scarred me for life in a good way. A song I’ll never forget and always vibe to.
I think its safe to say, some of you spent years trying to find this song from the faint lyrics alone. Welcome friends you found it. Also this song is criminally underrated in views.
Everyone my age thinks I listen to weird music cause I listen to the old good stuff. My generations music shouldnt even be called music, its so rare to find something good.
i find it amusing how you find "new music" only to be pop. Ever heard of bands like Bokka, alvvays, bosnian rainbows, crystal castles, death grips, clipping? That's just a few i mentioned, i know and support way more. There's a variety of non-mainstream music that is succesful, just not in a huge scale. and it's very easy to reach it. You just have to look beyond what you see on trending page.
Tricky is the man. In 2018 in Moscow, Russia on Park. Live music festival.I was wasted.Hard year, lots of bad thoughts, problems, very hot day, alcohol, tension with my babygirl.Just one of those really shit stripe on your life scale. I was in the VIP zone of the festival and there was a Johnny Walker's promo bar there is a bad idea to mix whiskey with wine especially considering all of the above.Tricky was there after the performance. 10 minutes before that I was sitting on the grass under a tree and sobbing like a child. All the shit came out of me like water from a fire hose. I'm drunk and leaned on the dude in front of me and it was a Tricky, the security wanted to do something but he stopped them, saw my tear-stained, drunken, lost face, lost eyes hugged me, asked how I was, shook me and said that everything is ok. I just :wow this is Tricky and took a selfie where he hugs me more than i hug him. He is a subtle soul who recognized the confusion and discord in another person and gave me tenderness and humanity in return. Thanks!
90's had the best music. I was only born 1995, but I listen to a lot of 90's music, instead of the mainstream stuff that's on nowadays. I like channels where I can listen to 90's music and 70's and 80's music and it was before my time, but I love it. :)
I heard this song so long ago when I was very little. Maybe when it first came out and I was trying to remember the lyrics for years (hearing the beat in you head and not remembering the lyrics is so frustrating) and finally I typed "this revolution has just begun" and I found it yay!! Love Tricky.
I love this song! I can't believe I never heard it before. I've been eating at Chipotle a lot this week and every time I'm there, they play this song. The chorus stuck in my head so I googled it just now.
Instead of making the bullshit "who's still here in 2020" comment, instead I'll say that it is truly amazing that so many people have been inspired by this track that came out almost 20 years ago! God damn, what a good song.
Now that you got it right Bring love and it'll make it alright Bring love and we'll take it tonight Now that you got it right Who wants the sinner Coming 'round for dinner Who needs effects Who needs to pay for sex When they drop the bomb Who will stay calm Blood will spill Who would you kill Now that I understand this right Let me take it to the mic This revolution has just begun Now that I understand this right Let me take it to the mic This revolution has just begun Walking down the road with my little rude gun Top of my gun, cock it for fun Block on ya tongue Top of my earth Tip of my birth Top of my death Tip of my breast Top of my chest Tip of my guess I like the singles I got the jingles Bet you ate Springles Walking on your road with my little rude gun Now that I understand this right Let me take it to the mic This revolution has just begun Now that I understand this right Let me take it to the mic This revolution has just begun Stepping on the street with my little rude girl Tip of my toes Top of my world Top of my world Top of my earth Top of my rock Tip of my block Now that you got it right Bring love and I'll make it alright Bring love and we'll take it tonight Now that you got it right Now that I understand this right Let me take it to the mic This revolution has just begun She was born in the ghetto outside the Bronx In the project blocks Where time stands still It don't tick, it don't tock Top of my sun Tip of my land Top of my chest Tip of my breast Top of my earth Tip of my rock Walking on the road with my soul in my hand Tip of my toes Top of my span Now that I understand this right Let me take it to the mic This revolution has Just begun Now that I understand this right Let me take it to the mic This revolution has Just begun, just begun, just begun, just begun Now that I understand this right Let me take it to the mic This revolution has Just begun Now that I understand this right Let me take it to the mic This revolution has Just begun Now that I understand this right Let me take it to the mic This revolution has Just begun
Metal was my favourite music, but my instinct guided to reach much more. Was then, when I accepted the long, long way of progressive rock and, by the way, opened my eyes to different great music like this.
I heard this song for the first time on a free CD on a Kerrang magazine in 2001 ish. While my musical taste has changed in the past 20 years I always remembered this. Great tune.
Somewhere in the early 2000s i heard this song in a channel called GamesNetwork for a game video. The time was young and I was a small kid back then. Lookin back the time in youtube trying to find this song. It is true that music stimulates memories.
*Three vocalists. Tricky, Ed K (from Live), and Hawkman (Garrison Hawk.) But yes, they're all so distinct. Tricky's breathy almost seductive vocals, Hawkman's deep Jamaican raps, and Ed's higher cleaner tones... love it!
i remember this song but had never seen the video before. just seen this beautiful creative being at the arches, glasgow... small intimate venue, just fanastic... he gave out cuddles and i caught one... nice memory
The Artists, The Video, The lyrics, Its a perfect mix and a modern day classic! there really is nothing else to say about this, if your watching this your fucking watching the best of the best, I hope that Tricky and Kele meet in New York and make some music! that would be my wet dream!
