First time I heard this song just now.... Came here through a link from a Portishead song ' the Rip' ......which I came across watching BBC drama' Chloe' last night....so lucky to have such amazing culture and talent in the UK when it comes to music and TV. Love the Bristol scene.
Hubo un día que me quid quitar la vida y mientras esperaba viendo una preciosa puesta de sol sonaba Poema es decisión propia si lo volviese a hacer sonaría lo mismo con un te caliente . Buena transición gracias Tricky
deep and dark trip hop, yet a unique voice like Bjork, good notice! I never thought of him like that till now. The generation was similar too. Great song.
Who is listening in 2020? Tricky´s Nearly God is my favorite album of all times. Pure piece of poetry and art. Keeps me quiet when i´m restless too.....love it!
I listened to that when I was 15 and I was on the bus going to holls in Italy . The bus drove into tunel in Alps... ) and all the lights were dancing with the Tricky beats.. Peramnent brain changes, From then on I knew Im gonna be making electronic music :)
There's this really cool group called Stereolab. I was working at this gas station doing graveyard shift and heard one of their songs on Dots and Loops. Been hooked ever since.
"I rue the day that I ever met you, And deeply regret you getting close to me. I cannot wait to deeply neglect you, Deeply forget you, Jesus believe me, You promised me poems."
I remember watching this video on MTV on alternative nation and I must have been like 15 and it was pretty shocking. Found it very violent and dark and grey. And me being south american, these cloudy british skies were really post apocalyptic for me. Utterly genius. For the record, ive been living in the UK for the last 13 years lol, something must have struck me somehow from these weird scenes.
@@jacquesmesrine8031 I see what you mean, I figured that you meant the vibe but I wanted to be sure. I agree that tone can feel violent too. There is something sinister about it. The same way I feel about all of Mezzanine.
People, explain me plz. Why such an absolute genius as Tricky has so absolutely few views? Other artists whom i adore have millions and billions (Asap Rocky, for instance). Maybe because Tricky doesn't really love being famous and maybe not promotes his songs?
Haven't listened to this for years - it's amazing. Reminds me of being 23, I moved from the city to a farm, I'd listen to this over and over alone and in the dark.
Less than 10 years later I worked in a bar in London. Terry Hall would spend hours sat there drinking coke and looking sad. Never occurred to me to tell how much I loved this. Funny ol' world.
I never heard of Tricky when I was trying Owsley and Orange Sunshine back in the day. But I definitely could have trippeed to this song, for sure. Blessings to all who come here
Tricky : I can vibe to anything Do I have to hide from everything? Everybody wants a piece of me Reach their origin and cease to be Sit back and let it happen, Let us take your time away. I dont understand you. I dont want your time of day. If youre gonna walk, might as well walk your way Always walk the hallways, Forget the punk, I pack the funk. Im gonna take a piece of you. Making money for good health, But first I learn to see myself But first I learn to see myself You promised me poems..
From the album Nearly God (1996) one of the best songs of all time. It was the nineties of the 20th century, amazing times and Lucy who was a fan of Tricky music so much that she took my album and listened to it many times. RIP Lucy.
martina: Dreamed of ringing voices, And contemplated choices. Taste like a real kiss, To heighten my awareness. With all fairness, greatness with gratitude. And simply riled with attitude Now do promotion on tv, and ya still can't see. We're down the hill cascade And keep away the masquerade, Dreamed of ringing voices, And you promised me poems
@TheLastLaffer you still don't get it. I have nothing to let go at all. You made a douchy comment and I called you out on it. "In front of your peers" what the hell is this a jury trial? These are youtube comments. I can make funny comments and continue to do so when you exhibit funny behavior. Please continue.
@TheLastLaffer Again with the amusement. It's funny. That's all. It's still funny. For the record, I am employed. Shit, I don't even own a computer. It's funny to make egotistical claims like you did, then to keep on with the same line of thought is even funnier. That's all that's happening here.
Adrian Thaws is a brilliant poet who doesnt' care much about his music, but I hope you like the icy accoustic guitar as it was recorded wit Martina 's cheap 100€ guitar on a tour bus on a USA tour...I played it in 2 takes that is why there is 2 guitars
bullshit music hmmm mate i like grime but trickys a ledgend here and in the states uk grime will never make it over there and you all sell out dizzee sold out the mitchell bros sold out there last to songs wrer powder puff guff..... tricky never sold out
Engulfed in crime, the apparitional merit, groin of a sea captain. Beseeched to breath, a citizen plane ship. Omniclumsy surveillance off a drunk minimal, covers in buttons exaggerated edifice, for true. Aqua play.''
u need to listen to juxtapose his album with muggs and grease witch was mainly uk grime.... an album which was made in 1999 get some british music history in ur brain mate........ tricky fans i thank u
Thanks for not taking my comment so damned seriously...lighten the hell up, folks! Nowhere did I say that Tricky sucks...can I help it if he reminds me of Tyrone Biggums? Blame it on Dave Chappelle!
Nearly God was a very strange and isolated CD. It pushed you away and yet something made you stay with it...to find out its meaning...what it's trying to say....and that's a great fucking CD...
"Now do promotion on tv, and ya still cant see." maybe i'm wrong but i think its about religion, churches, new spiritual sect...and how they promised"poems". "JESUS BELIEVE ME"
So true, quality. As a man once said and it deserves sayin again..... Only a G like terry hall can get punched in the face and still sing ......roflmao but quality
