You should do a series where you take a craft - one that’s in an overpriced craft kit - and try to remake the project yourself, using materials purchased for less. We often see you compare the cost of a project in a kit vs. the cost if you were to buy materials at the dollar store. Do it in real life! Take us shopping with you, and make sure to include all costs. For example, if we need a foot of wire, the cost of a full spool would need to be included (as we can’t buy just a foot), or include shipping costs if materials have to be purchased online.

You should check out Peter Brown. He does all kinds of household colorant experiments with resin and makes some really interesting things with weird resin add ins on a lathe mostly, but a couple other shop tools as well.

If you are interested Peter Brown has a series of trying different household items as resin colourants. It is called "DYE TRYING" and is super useful for those of us trying to craft on a budget.

Almost surprised you didnt use this opportunity to make your or miniatures! That way the looks and pieces would be the correct size and maybe pop with the colours more. I think make You could try Polymer clay inclusions of the food next time as a fun challenge and to reduce food waste . 😋 I think thats What Angry Pom Dice did with their Ramen dice.

Those inserts are called "pen refills." My dad makes pens on a lathe (mostly wood, but sometimes other stuff like countertop material), and you can switch out the refill when it runs out, or customize it. Obviously these pens will be useless once the ink runs out... but they'll still look cool =)

Hi Jackie! If you wanna make more food resin projects, I recommend watching Peter Brown's youtube series Dye Trying. He tests a lot of food and sometimes other weird things in resin, to see if it could be used as a colorant.

Best way not to use to much resin is to fill the mold with water then empty the water into a measure cup. keeping in mind the solid items will displace the previously measured water or in the final product of resin. love this project!

Realistically I would probably just put gummy bears into a pen, I think it would look nice with the strong colours. That, or try to do Lasagne, the way that you can see the layers from the side. But realistically the idea of writing with something filled with food kinda disgusts me.

I love that you two are doing resin together, it's fun seeing you bond over this! XD I dunno what I'd want to put into resin that's food-based. Maybe something like Sweetarts or Nerds? I think the smores one is my favorite out of your set. I have to wonder, would it make sense to coat the marshmallows in UV resin first and stick them to the bottom of the mold with a UV light, before pouring the AB resin? I feel like that would help to secure it a little better so that it doesn't float, but I'm not an expert, so I could be wrong. The whole time I was watching this, I couldn't help but think back to Rybonator's channel. He's an artist that creates dice made out of resin, I think you'd like his content if you haven't already seen it. He has a video called "Resin Dyeing Experiments" that I think you might find helpful if you ever do something like this again. He goes through about 30 different materials for coloring/decorating resin to see how they fare, and a lot of them are spices or powders that you can find in your kitchen, along with some more proper art supplies.

If you do the cereal again it might help to dampen it first, so it would be heavier and sink down. It would also be more pliable to position.

i really reccomend doing the resin in layers, id do a bit let it cure then do another layer. it would also prevent things from floating on the top AND lessen the amount of bubbles.

I have those molds( I found them at my local hobby lobby) for thr pens there is a little like rubber stick that the end of the pen goes in to stay in the middle of the pen.

You sisters make me think of my older sister and me. She is six years older than me and would do things like crafts and drawing and playing tea with me. There is nothing better than a sister!
