Thank you for highlighting the dreadful skin cancer malignant melanoma. I was diagnosed in 2019 & was totally devastated & was convinced I was going to die. Thankfully there was no spread to my lymph nodes & I have 6 monthly checks and I remain clear. This awful sneaky cancer if diagnosed early is treatable with good outcomes. We need to be aware of any changes in our body & be persistent to get checked when thing don’t seem right. Best wishes for continued good health & living your best life x

Hi Bridgeen, thank you so much for sharing your experience with me, I really do appreciate it. I’m so glad that you were OK and have kept well too. You’re right, more needs to be done to highlight awareness and we do need to remain persistent in getting something checked if it isn’t your normal, we can never take our health for granted! Thank you for supporting me and being so relatable 🩷 xx

My dearest Denise! I am saddened by all of this news, but also very elated to know that your well! I am so very sorry to learn of the loss of your mom, at such a young age! I just cannot begin to express, how much I wish that I could be near you & give you many, many really big hugs xx ❤ It was wonderful of you to share your story with the hope of helping others! This message you sent was so very important for people to hear. James sees the dermatologist every few months. He usually has something removed and sent for biopsy each time he goes. Many of them have come back pre-cancerous, over the years. He grew up working on the family farm never wore sun protection. No too stays out of the sun. We both do our best. Make sure to protect your eyes too! I am sending you all of my love, hugs & support ❤ xx - here for you always too! Xx 😘 Roe

Hi Roe, thank you so much for your lovely, supportive words 🩷 xx I just hope that my video can help someone save their own or someone else’s life. I’m sorry to hear that your husband has areas removed often, but thankfully they do check him regularly. I was always covered up with high factor sun screen etc and hats/t shirts and sunglasses and, we only went on holiday for 1 week of the year. Also, Scotland isn’t exactly very sunny all of the time…so it is unfortunately genetic and age related as I’ve been told. I hope that you didn’t find this video upsetting, I just wanted people to know where I’m coming from and what’s been going on! Sending love to you 🩷❤️💜 xxx

Thank you so much! 🩷 I have had a good focus on Slimming World, and glad that I’ve been able to keep it all going nicely in the background. I’m glad you like my new hair, I like a little change every now and then 🩷 my hair is finally back to the colour it was before COVID, I always had it a nice bright tone so I’m glad it’s back to that 🥳🥳 have a fantastic day! Hi Denise, I've had it too, such a shock as not in my family. It was in my leg, I had noticed a shape, colour and size change in a mole on my lower leg in late 2022. Urgent appt, several weeks later not good result. I've had it removed coming u on a year and further one too as precaution. I'm glad to say, like yourself, all clear 😊. They took photographs of my whole body, I've had 2 six monthly check ups all good and now will be reviewed annually. Was in Mexico last February (found out 3 weeks befote i went,, was then booked in for when I returned. Factor 50 on all holidays and foundation has SPF coverage too. Good luck, and thank you for continuing your videos, inspiring us even though your mind was elsewhere. God Bless x

Hi Sandra, thank you so much for sharing your experience with me. I really appreciate it, and I am so glad to hear that you are OK and had the mole removed. I really do think that there should be regular TV adverts/radio adverts to highlight how to check and why it’s important too. It could save thousands of lives. I’m so grateful for all of your support and encouragement, as always 🩷 xxx

So pleased your surgery is over and you have the wonderful good news that everything is okay. What an emotional and informative video. You have been through so much and not to have emotionally eaten is somewhat of a miracle being under so much stress and worry. I love the heat but not the sun, I am always in a hat and wear factor 30, I was blond when younger and have blue eyes but I am lucky I don't burn. But I still protect myself. Your hair looks stunning 😍 it really suits you shorter xx

Hi Kim, thank you so much. Also, thank you so much for your lovely message to James. He told me earlier on and I was so happy to hear from you, it really did make me smile. I really appreciate you sharing your experiences with me. I have completely shifted my mindset since joining slimming world, and I’m so glad. I’m mentally strong enough to cope with things better now, thankfully. I’m glad to hear that you keep yourself safe 🩷 Thanks so much - I fancied getting it a little shorter for a change. My hair colour is finally back to how I had it before covid. It’s taken years to get it back to an all over blended colour and tone of blonde too. Thankfully, it’s all happened just at the right time 🩷 thanks so much for your unwavering support xxx

@@ScottishFoodieLassie Bless you Denise, thank you so much for your kind words 🥰 I just wanted to say a few things in private , I too have gone shorter, I wanted it really short but my hairdresser wouldn't do it as she thought it would be too much of a change🤣. Going again in March and it will be cut shorter then. Have a good week and I very much look forward to your next video. I feel I am on your journey too and I will always be there to support you 🥰. Well done for bringing awareness to this, I am sure your family history and the fact that you are a nurse has given you a power and confidence to deal with this and not let it slide. So many folk have no understanding about such topics that they ignore things and it goes too far and it is not a positive outcome. You are looking amazing and what strength to have been able to stay the course with your weight loss with this hanging over you. Sending love.

Denise, thank you for raising awareness and sharing your story. My parents both have skin cancer - my dad has squamous cell carcinoma (13 growths treated so far) and my mum has basal call carcinoma. My mum's surgery was only two weeks ago and they had to shave off most of her hair on the top of her head to remove the tumour - she cannot bear to look in the mirror or at photos. It is so important to get checked - don't just wear SPF, wear a hat too. By the way, your hair looks lovely!
@ScottishFoodieLassie

Hi GH! Firstly, thank you so much for sharing your family experience of different skin cancers. I am sorry to hear that both Mum and Dad are having treatments but I do hope that they are curable treatments to manage the condition. Definitely, I always wear a hat when I can, and James does too in the summer. I went for a little shorter and finally have my hair back to how it was before COVID. It’s been a long process to get it back to how I want it, thanks so much 🩷 xx

So big shout out to them plus Stobhill hospital. I’m still getting checked and regular CT scans as well as MRI. Hopefully it won’t return, if your ever in Glasgow and would like to offload over a syn free coffee to another high risk melanoma survivor haha let me know , best of luck ❤

Aw bless you ❤ it must have been hard on you. I really worry about skin cancer . I have a large mole on my back getting larger, I was thinking of going to the skin clinic, did get a price list, but got scared they would shave it off. Do you have a pic of yours x
@ScottishFoodieLassie
@ScottishFoodieLassie 6 месяцев назад
Hi Jane, I would recommend to speak to your GP regards this mole that you speak of. They may ask you to go in or to send a photo in to them but I wouldn’t delay, if you have any worries then I’d call them today. They don’t shave moles off if they are suspicious, they always fully remove it by biopsy in my own experience. I may have a pic of mine but each mole is different due to skin colouring and your genetics too. If the one you speak of it getting bigger though then please do seek advice xx
