I had to redo the work they did when they installed my backrest. They did a pisspoor job and when I took the seat off to start doing the work I wanted to kick myself after seeing just how easy it was to install it. I’ve done a lot of work myself on my Electra glide, oil changes, lower fairings, even installed my own tour pack thanks to RU-vidrs like yourself showing me how. It’s ridiculous how much they charge you at the dealership.
After battling the rear seat bolt BS. I bent bracket slightly then took a 2in long ' 1/4-20 all thread, with nut under and nut with lock washer over bracket, tightend down, now seat will slide onto all thread and i found a 1 1/2 inch long nut thats easy to start and leaves no threads sticking out. PS this vid shows that the backrest install works. thanks for making vid... S CTRL TENNESSEE
Thanks for the video. My Brother-in-law just purchased a new Trike last fall but the backrest isn't even close to working for him, and he was told "that is how it is". Now that I watched your video I know how to fix the issue. Just subscribed to your channel. Thanks again. Larry.
Thanks for the info & video. You saved me a bunch of money. H-D said I needed to spend $300 + for a backrest w/toggle switch and battery hookup to adjust angles. I didn't want all that stuff. Love my tri-glide (2015). Still miss my Road King, but just got to old to hold it up all day long (69 yrs).Hope to get in another 20 years. :>))). Hope your back gets better. Safe riding !!!
Thanks for the video TRNRR! My battery died this morning, and your video was the only one that showed how to take the seat off! Thanks bunches, so glad mine already had the backrest on it.
Thank you for making this vid. Just got my back rest for Christmas and wanted to install right away but didn’t have a clue how to get started. This will certainly come in handy!
Must be some little thing that Harley sees to be an issue. Have found in the past on other parts that they say don't fit but actually do. Good job! You answered my question, as I have the expensive cable release adjustable backrest on my Ultra and am now going to remove it before trading. Thanks again for your time doing this video.
Thank you for doing this video, I was told the same at my local H-D. That I needed a type specific backrest for my Tri Glide. A little knowledge goes a long way, keep up the good work! Stay safe!
Just installed on my 2019 TriGlide. I had to place a couple of washers as shims underneath the small bracket to make up for the difference in thickness of the passenger hand grip base. That allowed the holes to line up perfectly on the piece that bolts between the small bracket and the main seat mount.
Yep , they told me the same thing . I put my old one on too and it worked fine . We are going to try running without the grab rails , as they dig into my wife’s legs for some reason . I am glad to have my backrest on too . Thanks for the video .
Thanks much. Catalog says bracket won't fit trikes. I have the backrest from an 08 that I want to use on a trike. You answered my question and will be picking that bracket up soon.
Thanks for the information sir.. I got one just like yours in black...Harley is always try to tell you there's nothing you can do to your trike so they can make $$ from you.
I found out the same thing . Thanks for the video . It will help people who are wondering what the difference is . I wonder if there is a small difference ?
Just goes to show that not everyone who claims to know what they are talking about, actually does know what they are talking about. A very reminiscent scenario among pastors, priests and rabbis these days as well. LOL. Looks good Bro.
Why do you have that “support” plate going down from the bracket? I don’t have that. And Tks to you my mount and back rest that came off my 06 Street Glide now is on my 2020 Trike. Tks
I run without the hand grabs . Wife isn’t comfortable with them . Some people put passenger pegs on that lift their legs up but my wife doesn’t like that either . They need a redesign .
Be careful when replacing bolts you have sensors that also screw on to the bolts if they're not the right bolts you'll have problems with sensors believe it or not that's what happened to me took my Free Wheeler down to Harley and they determine the bolts were messing with the sensor 🤷🏾♂️
Thank you, Your video clip already answer my question. I asked these couple dealers they all said this mounting kit won't fit on trike. My trike is 2015 and the same color at your trike. I will order the mounting kit and install. Rider Backrest Mounting kit PN: 52589-09A and the Backrest pad PN 52914-09A
