I just realized that the link to the tabs wasn't working due to "a security update." This link and the one in the description box should now work. If they don't, let me know. drive.google.com/drive/folders/0B6hQrAGoL8IRfnpOTk8yQ01LUnp2cHJsUk1ZSVJXa09pbE81dVE3YzRnc0t2UVQ2X29NWWM?resourcekey=0-zxrGZ130sribRaVTK_YhjQ&usp=sharing
Smacker Jack I know! That's the one thing I wish I could've changed in this. At the time, I didn't know anyone who had bongos. I asked David to try doing the part on djembe, but it didn't come out sounding very good, so I ultimately left it out.
I love this cover. You did an outstanding job. Also, while I generally prefer if there's little to no improvisation in covers, I feel it was done very well here. It added to the song, instead of taking away from it. I love frequently coming back to this video and listening to it.
Thank you so much! It really means a lot to know that you keep coming back to this video. I know what you mean about improvising in covers. Like sometimes it feels forced, and it's clear that the person is just coming up with an excuse to show off. The main idea of this cover was me trying to imagine how a "full" version of this song might sound since, as far as I've seen, there's no official full version. And yeah, I tried to make my solo part fit in with the feel of the song the best I could. Again, thank you so much!!
@kidyuki1 I thought so! Beck was a great anime. It's a shame it only ran for 1 season. It would have been great if we could have gotten an anime run of the full manga.
A really damn good cover. You didn't over-shred the solos, kept it all in theme and tasteful. Really everything this song is capable of being right here. Awesome awesome job
Well, thank you very much! I'm not the best guitarist in the world, so I don't even think "over-shredding" is an option for me, but I did try to keep it tasteful and in the style of the song.
I haven't said it on this video yet, so here goes. MP3s of all my studio recorded videos are available on Bandcamp and Soundcloud, which are linked in the description.
Haha glad you like! I don't provide gpx files for all my covers. I just happened to have made the file for the live band, so I figured I might as well share it publicly.

I don't know why I never thought of learning this on guitar! So much fun. You're a great inspiration! I'd love to see you do "Rise on shooting star" by the bands The Pillows & from the great anime we all know and love FLCL! Also I love your channel, keep up the top notch work. Just hit six years of playing guitar myself and I really can respect your level of talent! Keep up the good work and I truly look forward to seeing your future work.
Thank you very much, both for the feedback and the suggestion! Always good to hear from a fellow guitarist. This song is a lot of fun to play, and there are plenty of tabs out there if you want to learn it. Also, I know I said "no promises," but I was already planning on doing "Ride on Shooting Star" either for my next video or the one after that, so stay tuned! (I accidentally posted this reply using my other account lol whoops.)
Kid Yuki I love playing that song, but some of the tabs are a tad bit off, I kinda just used a hybrid of a few I looked up. I liked you on facebook and I subbed to your channel. Looking forward to the future videos!
Randoodle lee Shoot, there's something wrong with the drum track for "Ride on Shooting Star" so I'm gonna have to work on a different song for now. Don't worry though, I'll definitely do that one soon!
I know! The lack of bongos is one of my biggest regrets on this channel. The drummer didn't have bongos at his disposal, so he tried a couple takes with a djembe, but the recordings weren't great, so I ultimately cut them from the final mix.
For one piece fans like me I recommend covering "We Are" which is the theme song for season one of One piece and it is the song that every one piece fan knows and loves.
This is great! As someone who doesn't watch any of the big three, trying to learn a song from one of them can be intimidating since they have so many openings and endings. Thank you for the suggestion!
yaka gogo Oh, of course! Pretty much the only time I learn English words to anime songs is if the songs are originally in English, like Stray from Wolf's Rain. Thanks for the heads up, though!
I had to go back and listen to that one to remember what it sounded like. It's a great song, but it's really dependent on that percussion - bells and different hand drums, and I don't have any of that kind of stuff. Plus, I'm not sure I've done another instrumental song since I did this video.
Dude, just found your channel. Don't even know most of these songs, but you rock! Your musical prowess is obviously evident, but I love your editing! Fantastic. Do you ever cover any more traditional rock songs un-related to video games/anime? Seems like you definitely could!
+Igor Zamboni Yup! I'm a huge Beck fan. I'm actually in a band that covers songs from the anime. We just have a couple live clips up, but check us out if you're curious. facebook.com/projectbeck/
The bass is pretty similar to the guitar, so the guitar tabs should get you pretty close. But I mean, if you insist, you can message me on Facebook or Twitter or email me at kidyuki1@gmail.com and we can work something out.
Awesome Cover Kid Yuiki ^_^ I like where this is heading. Thank you so much for subscribing man. Means Alot to me ^_^ Hopefully we can do a collaboration or duo sometime in the future since im still a noobie at guitar :P Anyways Good luck man. I might be thinking about watching trigun soon so yea :P
That sounds great! I'd love to collaborate sometime. I'm not the best pianist in the world, so I'm sure we can find a song with piano for you and guitar for me or something like that. And Trigun is definitely worth the watch. It's a classic.
