The fact that Aron mentioned that finally a usable auto sensor, checks one box. Top load, checks second box. Circle dot option, Third box. Looks like dreams do come true!
He did approve of the Holosun SCS MOS auto brightness if I remember correctly! Have to say, my new SCS 320 is absolutely phenomenal. Fully enclosed (which is a requirement for me) but quite thin, solar charging and non replaceable lithium ion battery, and great auto brightness and clarity. Optional circle dot as well. They say the battery will last at least 10 years but the Sig rep said conceivably much longer as they never fully charge the battery with the solar so it will last a very long time.
"My Brother in Christ, there's slide releases." All in all, a great step forward for the RMR as a "system", but as you said the price of admission is what it is. For those that want it it's there.
Thanks for another great review! However, unlike Aaron, I broke my RMR HD - but that’s not the end of the story. Long story short, there’s a reason to spend a fair amount on a Reflex sight and Trijicon’s warranty and service department really help add value to the equation. In my case, I’d been using a screwdriver to change the top-replaceable battery, when the screwdriver slipped and broke the small emitter window. I told Trijicon what happened and, after examining my new and broken RMR HD (which, by the way, still “worked”), they offered to replace the broken unit with a new one. I could not ask for more. THIS is why I’ll buy another one when the time comes.
@@fmxmyway Optics Planet the first day they went up for sale. Ordered another one a couple weeks later (right after I posted here) and got “ETA Unavailable”. Evidently, they’re pretty popular.
@@dylanwatson8468 Yes. They sell a red plastic offset tool with a Philips-like engagement for the top of the battery compartment. It'll keep from damaging the optic when changing battery, but they really should include it in the box with the optic.
@@doughhandel Trijicon and Aimpoint have the highest recorded history of optics out-surviving their users. You won't survive an IED, but they will. The RMR, ACOG, and aimpoint's Mserie's are the pre-hinged gameboys of the optic world.
I agree with open vs closed emitter. I’ve carried open emitter professionally for 6 yrs in rain, snow, etc, and never wished for a closed. Wipe off the screen, flick the gun, and move on. Nice video.
You’re incredibly well spoken. Even if I have no vested interest in whatever you’re covering for a particular video, I still like watching and listening to what you have to say. It’s reputable, relevant and respectable. Props.
Thanks for the review. It is nice to see Trijicon finally coming out with an RMR that meets and exceeds the feature set from the competition. I do not really have a need for a larger RMR, but I hope and can't wait until they come out with a compact version with the same feature set.
Recently subbed on patreon. Maaaan I missed out on SO MANY REVIEWS 😭 I look forward to taking a class with you in 2024. Since I already live in Atlanta, this is wildly easier than flying somewhere else.
This video on is making me go over to Patton and look you up .. I appreciate it very much , finally finally I was able to get one of these . Now to pick out the plate . Thanks
I recently had the opportunity to see two Glocks at my local gun store that the owners had dropped on hard surfaces, concrete or ceramic tiles. One was a Glock 41 that fell directly on the magazine release button which resulted in a broken part inside. The button either broke or the magazine release button spring, so that the button no longer sits firmly on the pistol frame. The other model was a Glock 19X that was dropped on a lanyard loop that cracked leaving a few millimeters of the round ring missing... My question here is: what guns have you had the chance to see that have been noticeably damaged by being dropped on a hard surface, and do you think metal guns (steel or aluminum) hold up better than those with polymer bodies? Thanks.
Is there a pistol compatibility list out yet to ensure you don't encounter the breech overhang issue? I couldn't find one after a cursory glance at Trijicon's website
Great review. This is the first video from Sage Dynamics that I have seen, and I like the content. I watch 2nd amendment content almost exclusively and I'm impressed by the production quality of the video and the costs you put into it; 2k rounds of ammo, scuffing up your new RMR, ect. I'm glad that I found your channel and now wonder what I've been missing. Guess I know what I'll be binge watching this weekend... BTW there is a white powdery substance under your right nostril at the 16:43-16:44 mark. I was waiting for you to cut into a slow motion segment (kind of like Kentucky Ballistics doing his "Watermelon Time") with you you making a overly exaggerated effort of wiping off your nose before clearing you sinuses, followed by a super fast paced cardio routine, laps around the range, or burpees, lol. Guess that might not have fit in with the tone of the review, but it definitely played in my ADHD riddled head. I've subscribed, shared and cut on the notification bells. Anyways thanks for the video and keep up the good work!
Nice. I’m going to pick one up in 6ish months when they’re hopefully more available and there are more reviews. I have a personal rule to never be an early adopter of guns and optics after being burned a few times.
@@musicman1eanda yup. I ended up buying a SRO instead since it was for a concealed carry gun where I’m as worried about the optic not being “duty rated”. 6 months and a couple thousand rounds later and I don’t regret my decision.
Just bought and SRO wish I would’ve seen this before. I actually mounted it on a 509cc edge xl just like the one you use. Not sure if I should even shoot it since it hangs over port 😢. The fact that nothing happened in your testing gives me hope but I can see why it’s not recommended. Great video, valuable information like always 🤙🏽
Can anyone comment on safariland ALS holster compatability with these? I know there were problems with the SRO not working on most guns because it interefered with the ALS hood. I suspect this may have the same issues but would love to hear someone speak from experience.
Would this have issues sitting on a Bul Armory SAS II 4.25 Tac Pro? It comes with rmr mount built in in front of the iron sights. Looks like it may block ejection.
Which is a better application for a Glock Model 26 - the RMR HD or the RMR Type 2 ? I very much like the features and larger viewing lens of the new RMR HD, but I am concerned that it is too large in size for the Glock Model 26 application - both concealability (i.e., does it defeat the CCW purpose) and proportionally (does it look proportionally too large for the small size of the Model 26). Has anyone yet mounted a RMR HD on a Glock Model 26 ? Please let me know your thoughts ...
Well, no surprises here. I do own a couple of RMR s first GEN and I have had no issues in about 10 years now at least eight not sure when I got them . By all means this will be the next one that I buy. . Don't care for the toaster on top of my handgun to each their own .now like you said, what's the purpose or what conditions are you using it for? I know for a fact I on one of my hand guns that has an RMR on it battery life was easily five years ... thanks for the video. Great review as usual.
I see you've got an AEMS on your Spear LT: I know your review was very positive, if you were to choose between the AEMS and an E/XPS-3 for civilian use, what do you think would make the most sense?
I'm not Aaron but have both. The auto on on the AEMS makes it a no brainer pick over the EXPS for a home defense rifle. You won't remember to turn on the optic after getting waken up in the middle of the night. I'm guessing the EXPS is more durable which might make it a better option for other purposes.
What’s the best kind of pistol optic for someone with a astigmatism??I have a couple different ones and there all red ones with 2-3 moa dots and they all have the starburst glare thing going on. I’ve herd to go with the green dot in the 32moa that there better for a astigmatism??
I hope the next administration can get inflation down and the economy rolling. Then maybe we could get these down into the $550 range, which is the upper limit of my budget for optics. It hurt paying almost as much as my pistol cost (Glock 19 Gen 5 MOS =Blue Label) on the RMR 02 that I currently have. This new one will cost more than a good sale price on a Shadow Systems. It's always been said that you should spend 2-3 times what your bolt gun cost on quality glass, but dang prices on everything are insane now.
Not sure if your comment is serious or if it's a meme, but I'll treat it like a legit comment: No, putting the battery forward of the optic in this particular case is not going to solve the problem. And if your having a tough time mentally processing the concept, just imagine the optic glass is where the battery is, and now imagine the battery compartment where the optic hangs off. So not a solution. The real solution is to make sure whoever milled the slide, mills the optic cut further back towards the irons, and not to the front closer to the ejection port.
I work in the snow, so I’m a fan of the closed emitter. It may be just my own mental block, but I can’t get behind the mounting system for the RCR, it eeks me out.
i figured that you told them to put that rib on the optic once i saw it.. i remembered your rmr having the white out on it in class and was like guess they talked to aaron haha.
So how many guns out there does this optic actually sit fire enough back on in the normal RMR type cut.? Side-by-side pictures the RMR HD obviously protrudes quite a bit further relatively speaking than the older IMR.
I’m sold on the HD, and previously I was SRO all the way. Would you please tell me the maker and model of the gun used in this video? Thanks for a terrific presentation.
Since you test confirmation of a bag at 25 yards have you found some pistols that don't perform well from a bag compared to others? I don't mean direct bag contact.
